On April 16, ABS-CBN Corporation and TFC are unveiling yet another milestone teleserye – Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo (If You Will Leave Me) via Channel 2 and TFC worldwide. The very first overseas Filipino-serye or OFserye, Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo tells the story of two individuals who traversed miles to be with each other and was mainly shot in Doha where the OFserye was set. Doha in Qatar is in the Middle East, home to the third largest group of Filipinos outside the Philippines. Interestingly, while several movies have been made to tell the story of overseas Filipinos in the region like Dubai, a Star Cinema movie released in 2005, this is the first time that a teleserye has been shot in Dubai, UAE and in Doha, Qatar.
The OFserye tells of two children (Jake and Shaina) of two best friends, played by Christopher de Leon and Phillip Salvador, both overseas Filipinos who served as inspiration to their kids’ chosen path.
When Phillip Salvador saves Christopher from imminent death, the latter feels responsible for the welfare of Phillip’s family until he himself dies. Fate seems to always be bringing Jake and Shaina together as they fall for each other, and then torn apart with the presence of another girl played by Bangs Garcia.
