Hosted by anchors Karen Davila, Anthony Taberna, at Atty. Pochoy Labog, “Lakas Banda, Lakas Pinas” will celebrate Pinoy pride and excellence in the field of sports together with your favorite bands and artists like Imago, Barbie, Tanya Markova, Peryodiko, Itchyworms, Malay, Kamikazee, The Dawn, Rocksteddy, Bayang Barrios and Pedicab.

Robin Padilla and Vina Morales Reunite in ‘MMK’ This Saturday

After two decades since their last movie together, Robin Padilla and Vina Morales are reunited this Saturday (November 12) in a special ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ (MMK) episode as part of the drama anthology’s 20th anniversary celebration. The said MMK episode is Robin and Vina’s first team-up on the small screen, making it more memorable for the two Kapamilya stars.

This week’s episode will feature the life story of an inmate of the New Bilibid Prison named Willie, played by Robin, who spent most of his life outside prison running away from the authorities; and what he and his wife, played by Vina, had to went through while he was running away from the authorities.

In an interview, both Robin and Vina admitted excitement over their MMK project. Robin shared, “MMK is known for featuring real heartwarming stories of real people, that’s why it’s an honor for me to do an episode that carries a quality story with an amazing cast and high-caliber director.”

Vina, on the other hand, shared, “It’s been a while since we’ve done a project together and fans have been waiting for something like this to happen. I’m happy that even after a long time and now that we’re living our separate lives, we still have that on-screen chemistry that our fans loved.”

Unlike their films which are mostly action-packed, Robin and Vina’s MMK episode is a family drama.

Meanwhile, despite admitting that he personally requested for Vina to be his partner, Robin stressed that they worked on the episode as professional actors. “I wanted to work with Vina because I believe that the character fits her. Unlike before that I have to be really in-love with her to show that I love her on-screen, now the intensity of acting is different. I rely on my own emotions in the dramatic scenes.”

KC Concepcion in Indonesia for SEA Games

Following her successful US concert tour, singer-actress KC Concepcion flew to Palembang, Indonesia to prepare for her performance at the opening ceremonies of the 26th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) which begins on Friday.

In her official Twitter account on Wednesday, Concepcion said she arrived in Indonesia after catching four planes.

“Hi guys! 4 planes, 2 sunrises,1 sunset & 27 hours later... I am now officially a CLOUD IMMIGRANT! :) For now? Touchdown: Palembang, Sumatra!” she said.

Concepcion will be singing “Together We Will Shine” with Indonesian actress-singer Agnes Mojica and Malaysian belter Jakclyn Victor.

The SEA Games opening will be aired live on Studio 23 at 8 p.m. on Friday.

Snooky Serna Lauds Young Stars of Angelito: Batang Ama

Veteran artists Snooky Serna and Elizabeth Oropesa on Thursday praised the young stars of ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Angelito ang Batang Ama."

In a press conference on Thursday, the two agreed that young stars Charee Pineda and JM de Guzman have a promising future in show business.

JM plays the lead role of Angelito.

"Na-impress ako sa kanilang performance, very professional sila, kahit sa set they don’t fool around, very down to earth. Very well trained, if I may use the word. Malayo ang mararating nila," said Serna, who plays the role of Adel, mother of Pineda's character.

Oropesa also had good words for the young stars.

"Ang mga batang ito, lahat magagaling. Lahat magalang at gustong matuto. Hindi sila late, marunong mag-adjust, walang nakasimangot. Laging handa pagdating sa set. Sa palagay ko, malayo ang mararating," said Oropesa, who plays the character Lola Pinang, grandmother of Angelito.

Directed by Theodore Boborol, "Angelito, Ang Batang Ama" also stars young actors like Matt Evans, Felix Roco, Devon Seron and Sam Concepcion.

The film revolves around young parenthood. It will premiere on Monday, November 14.

Maria la del Barrio' Extended Until February

It's official: ABS-CBN's remake of Mexican series "Maria la del Barrio" has been extended until February next year.

In an interview during a press conference for the said show on Thursday, lead stars Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee thanked all those who have supported "Maria la del Barrio" since it premiered last August.

"Magbubukas na po ang Book 2. Dahil sa success ng 'Maria la del Barrio,' extended po kami until next year. Dahil po 'yan sa pagsisikap ng buong cast at production. At sa mga nanonood, salamat po," Gonzales said.

Early this week, Gonzales said her show has been extended until next year. She did not mention a specific month.

"Yes, sa Book 2 may papasok pong character na talagang aabangan," Dee added.

"Maria la del Barrio" has been dominating its timeslot. Latest data from Kantar Media/TNS showed that the series earned a rating of 21.2% last month, beating GMA Network's "Daldalita" which had a rating of 16.2%.

Directed by Rory Quintos and Richard Somes, "Maria la del Barrio" airs weekdays before "Reputasyon."

Papa Chen of 'My Binondo Girl' Becomes Twitter Trending Topic

Papa Chen Sy, a character in ABS-CBN's hit series "My Binondo Girl," became one of the top trending local topics of microblogging site Twitter on Thursday morning.

On last night's episode, Sy gave his blessing to the relationship between his daughter Jade (played by Kim Chiu) and Andy (played by Xian Lim).

"My daughter is very precious to me. Take good care of her," he said during the show.

Sy is played by Richard Yap, one of ABS-CBN's newest stars.

A number of Filipino netizens praised Yap's character on Twitter, causing "Papa Chen" to rank tenth on the list of top trending topics in the Philippines.

"Ang gwapooo (sic) talaga ni Papa Chen. OMG," user Nicole Santiago wrote.

"Uber kilig at saya pa rin ang nangyari sa #MBG (My Binondo Girl) kagabi. I SO LOVE Papa Chen, and lalong gumwapo si Andy," user Joan Marie tweeted.

"PAPA CHEN!!! u (sic) are the hottest Chinese dad out there!!! Ako to, c (sic) Loraine!!!" user Jude Martinez wrote.

In a previous interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Yap said "My Binondo Girl" is his first acting job.

Yap, 44, first appeared in television commercials of a telephone company and a popular fast food restaurant.

He is 100% Chinese, but was born and raised in Cebu. He is a graduate of De La Salle University.

Lito Lapid Gears Up for ABS-CBN Teleserye

Senator Lito Lapid, a former action star, is set to do his first television project with ABS-CBN.

"Meron tayong gagawin na ano dito, teleserye. First time ko magti-TV," he said in an interview on radio dzMM on Thursday.

He did not give further details.

"Sorpresa po ito, wala pa pong title," he said.

Meanwhile, Lapid thanked the local entertainment industry for paving the way to his success.

"Dito po ako nabuhay, dito ko rin binuhay 'yung pamilya ko, at dito ako naging governor, naging vice governor, naging senator. Kaya malaki 'yung utang na loob natin sa showbiz," he stressed.

Lapid started as a stuntman in action movies. His break came in 1978 when he starred in the film "The Jess Lapid Story," where he played the role of his uncle, Jess Lapid.

He has starred in 87 movies, among them are "Kalibre .45" with the late Fernando Poe Jr., "Kastilyong Buhangin" with Nora Aunor, "Yakapin Mo Ko Lalaking Matapang" with Vilma Santos, and "Ang Alamat ni Leon Guerrero."

JM de Guzman in Angelito: Batang Ama

JM de Guzman said that he would be more focused and disciplined now that he has been given a title role in Angelito: Batang Ama. “Oo, excited ako magtrabaho. Naging ugali ko na in every project na gagawin ko, right after nun kapag pinanonood ko parating kulang na kulang [ako sa acting ako]. Kaya excited ako na mas makapagbigay ng magandang performance ngayon,” said JM in an interview with Push.com.ph.

Although he’s a bit nervous about the viewers’ feedback on his performance, JM said that he would try his best not to be affected by other people’s expectations. “Ten times ang pressure at expectations sa akin ngayon compared nung ginagawa ko yung Mula Sa Puso. So mas pinaghahandaan ko na maramdaman yun. Yun din ang natutunan ko sa Mula Sa Puso. Kailangan huminga para maganda yung kakalabasan ng trabaho at hindi pressured.”

JM further shared that his character is a typical teenager who grows up in the province and has no sense of responsibility. Despite his elders’ constant warnings, he gets his girlfriend pregnant. Asked about his take on pre-marital sex, the 23-year-old actor replied, “Depende yun sa mga magulang natin kung paano nila ilalayo ang anak nila [sa temptations]. Well, masama talaga ang pre-marital sex. Kung well-informed yung bata, pwede naman kasi nilang pigilan kung gusto nila. Pero yung case dito, mangmang sila e, wala silang guidance. So kung gusto nila maiwasan yun, ma-i-inform sila this time.”

Should it happen to him in real life, is he willing to father a child at a young age? “Ako, paninindigan ko. Kasi pangarap kong magkaroong ng sariling family. Kasama sa pangarap ko yung family na yun. So pananagutan ko yung girlfriend ko kasi gusto ko buo yung pamilya namin. Ayokong lumaki yung magiging anak ko ng walang ama.”
