Kiddie Cooks Take Adobo Challenge on Junior Master Chef

Top 20 kiddie cooks face first elimination on October 9.

Two of the Top 20 kiddie cooks will exit the culinary competition of the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” in its first ever elimination round this Sunday (October 9).

The six underperformers with the lowest cumulative scores from the cooking challenges will have to make their own adobo dishes to escape elimination. Catch how they will reinvent and add a twist to the classic Filipino recipe.

Who among the kiddie cooks will present scrumptious dishes such as adobong hito with Thai salad, adobong antigo, Spanish style chicken adobo, and adobong basil pasta? Whose unique adobo dish will dazzle host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and chef judges Ferns, Lau, at Jayps?

But before the competitive cook-off and elimination, the Top 20 will go “back to basics” this Saturday (October 6) in a series of challenges that intends to showcase and improve their cooking skills.

The first challenge aims to gauge their ability in measuring ingredients, where they will have to extract a liter of juice from oranges without the aid of any measuring instrument.

The top 10 contenders will then enter a training-cum-challenge with Chef Lau where they will learn to peel and blanche tomatoes. From this round, five will be carried over to the next test where they will be tasked to make their own salad dressing.

The third test’s top performer will earn six points on the scoreboard, while the second and third placers will get four and two points, respectively.
Watch “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” this Saturday, 6:45 PM and on Sunday, 7 pm on ABS-CBN. For updates on the program, like http://www.facebook.com/jrmasterchefon Facebook, or follow @jrmasterchef_ph on Twitter.

Data from Kantar Media also showed that in Metro Manila, ABS-CBN led all TV channels on primetime with an average audience share of 35 percent vs GMA’s 33%.

Thirteen out of the top 15 most watched programs in September were on ABS-CBN, sweeping the top ten slots. GMA’s top rating locally produced program, “Amaya,” only ranked 15th.

“MMK,” which is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, topped the list with an average national TV rating of 32.8% also dominating the weekend programming, while “100 Days to Heaven” came in second with a rating of 32% and remains to be the number one weekday program.

The live airing of the prestigious “Miss Universe 2011” in Sao Paolo, Brazil where Shamcey Supsup bagged the third runner up honor, rated an unprecented 31% during daytime, heralding a new benchmark for a beauty pageant genre. This is in stark contrast to GMA-produced “Miss World” where the rival only rated 9.2% in primetime.

Meanwhile, “TV Patrol” is still the undisputed primetime newscast in the county as it earned an average TV rating of 28.1% vs GMA’s “24 Oras” (18.6%). “TV Patrol” also soared high to a rating of 32.6% Sept 26 as the entire country braced for the coming of Pedring. “24 Oras,” on the other hand, rated at 22.4% during the same day.

ABS-CBN’s newest primetime offering “Nasaan Ka Elisa?” instantly rose to 7th spot with an average rating of 25.3% and consistently beating GMA’s “Munting Heredera” hitting only an average rating of 19.4%.

Other Kapamilya programs in the top 15 were “My Binondo Girl” (27.4%), “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” (26.4%), “Rated K” (24.6%), “Guns and Roses” (23.7%), “Pilipinas Got Talent” (22.8%), “Wansapanataym” (22.7%), “Maria La Del Barrio” (21.9%), and “Goin Bulilit” (20.9%).

Romero and Associates, Adformatix, Starcom, OMD, PhD, Mediacom, Mindshare, MEC, Maxus, Universal McCann, and Wellmade Manufacturing Corporation. They also include pan-regional networks likes CSM Media Inc., Fox International Channels, Star HK, Discovery, AXN, HBO, MTV, and Sony Pictures Television International.

ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court.

"Alam mo mahirap mag-promote sa ASAP because of the Party Pilipinas it's a given no, no. I think I can do MYX yung mga ganoon. Maraming shows na pwedeng pag-promotan yun nga lang kailangang hingin ang pahintulot kasi kilala ako bilang GMA artist, yung courtesy at respeto nandoon," she said.

"Ang ano ko lang sa ABS-CBN is that they have also this parang open arms if I need their help they are also willing to lend a helping hand. Like yung sa Happy Yipee Yehey nakapag-guest na ako doon, nakakalusot eh. Saka ang sarap minsan maiba lang na nakakapag-guest ako. Nakaka-miss talaga yung may freedom ka to go around pero naiintindihan ko din ang concerns ng mga network, if given a chance I can promote somewhere else pero as much as possible hinihingan ko ng pahintulot," she explained.

Veteran actor Tirso Cruz III shared his excitement over his comeback TV project with ABS-CBN.

"Ito ginagawa namin, luckily I'm working with director Ruel Bayani again ang series na Budoy with Gerald Anderson and it's going to be shown very soon. Sana magustuhan ng tao because ito kakaiba, we are pushing for an advocacy here," Cruz said.

The actor said that Filipinos should really watch the series because of its good story line.

"So far ang nakunan namin, hindi naman sa nagbubuhat kami ng bangko eh very interesting talaga, very deep at ang gagaling ng kasama ko doon tulad nila Barbara Perez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Mylene Dizon, Janice de Belen at very outstanding ang performance ni Gerald," he said.

"You know this is a welcome return for me. Well I'm proud to say ever since naman always dito sa ABS-CBN I'm always given meaty roles everytime," he added.

Cruz was also part of Star Cinema's film "No Other Woman" which was also directed by Bayani. The hit film stars Cristine Reyes, Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay.

Cristine Reyes Says Rayver Cruz is Proud of Her

Actress Cristine Reyes said her boyfriend Rayver Cruz is proud of her performance in the hit Star Cinema film "No Other Woman".

In an interview during a thanksgiving party for the film, Reyes said Cruz is very happy about her latest achievement.

"Mas tuwang tuwa pa siya kaysa sa akin, alam mo yung panay text siya sa akin na 'oy nanood daw si ganito ang daming nanood.' Sabi niya parang sobrang proud siya dahil hindi niya akalain na mangyayari ito sa akin. Parang feeling ko mas natutuwa siya for me. Nakakatuwa kasi very supportive siya," Reyes said.

With the film's success, Reyes believes that Cruz is her lucky charm.

"Si Ray oo (siya ang lucky charm ko) I guess kasi nandiyan siya palagi hindi ba? Iniintindi niya ang lahat sa akin at thankful ako doon," Reyes said.

The film, about extramarital affair directed by Ruel Bayani, already earned P100 million in ticket sales during its first five days of release.

JM de Guzman Topbills New Series 'Angelito Batang Ama'

It's a dream come true for young actor JM de Guzman, who is now topbilling ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Angelito Batang Ama."

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com on Friday, de Guzman admitted that he didn't expect to get the role.

He said that it's a blessing and a great surprise to have his own show.

"Excited ako sobra. Siguro from Mula sa Puso, ngayon yung excitement ay 10 times more. Dito iba na, ako na talaga ang lead character at parang sa akin nakaatang yung pagdala ng show," Guzman said.

In the new series, de Guzman will play the role of Angelito, a young man who falls in love with Charie Pineda's character.

De Guzman admitted that he has to lose weight to look younger to play the role of a 17-year-old in the series.

"Well physically kailangan kong magpapayat kasi medyo lumaki ako ngayon, para bumata sa show," he said.

"No rice ako, talagang mahirap pero kailangan for the show. I need to lose 10 lbs. more," he said.

Directed by Ted Boborol, the show also stars Jason Francisco, Felix Roco, Sam Concepcion and Matt Evans.

The show is set to air before the year ends.

Shaina Magdayao Agrees With John Lloyd Cruz That Their Relationship is Boring

Young actress Shaina Magdayao clarified speculations that her relationship with John Lloyd Cruz is on the rocks following the latter’s recent tongue-in-cheek remark that it’s “boring.”

"Talaga naman wala kaming bagong iku-kuwento sa inyo. Napaka-boring talaga," Shaina was quoted as saying in an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com.

Asked about his more-than-a-year-old relationship with Shaina, Lloydy lightheartedly told Push in their Oct. 2 story, “Ganun pa rin, boring, nothing new.”

He quickly added, “We’re doing perfectly fine.”

Shaina stressed that it’s better to keep their personal lives away from the spotlight. She also looks forward to their respective upcoming projects.

“Wala kaming bago pero marami kaming bago sa career. Sa personal, wala talaga masyado," she maintained in the same abs-cbnNEWS.com interview.

The Kapamilya actress apparently doesn’t see the need for her and her beau to work together in a project for their relationship to last.

“Until now nagsu-survive kami ng hindi nagwo-work together. Ibig sabihin, it's working," said she.

Lloydy echoed Shaina’s sentiments about their relationship in an earlier interview back in July.

"Again, I'm sure, meron lang nagpapalabas na mga ganyang balita dahil tahimik kami. Ginagawan kami ng isyu, na may pinagdadaanan. But sincerely and all honesty, okay kami. Tahimik lang talaga kami,” he related.

The box-office king is busy shooting for his first film with his “Imortal” leading lady Angel Locsin which is reportedly gunned for a November 2011 release.

As for his next TV project, Lloydy told Push in the same interview, “Sana hindi masyadong matagal [ang paghihintay for my next teleserye]. ‘Di ko alam kung tatapusin ko muna itong pelikula para mag-movie ulit or magsabay or mag-overlap. I’m not sure sa ngayon, di ko pa masabi.”

Anne Curtis Apologizes for Magazine Cover

In the heels of her widely successful film “No Other Woman,” actress-TV host Anne Curtis humbly apologizes for the “inappropriate” message supposedly conveyed by her recent magazine cover.

“I think it’s proper to really apologize to the people who were offended,” said Curtis in an interview with “Bandila” aired on Oct. 5.

Curtis was the October issue cover girl of Rogue magazine that recently drew flack from anti-smoking advocates after showing the star holding a cigarette.

The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) lamented that Curtis’ cover photo—as with Nora Aunor’s YES! Magazine cover—sets a bad example to the youth who apparently looks up to these renowned celebrities.

The “Showtime” host, however, mentioned that she understands where the critics are coming from.

“Syempre na-sad din kami that it was given that kind of publicity but at the same time naiintindihan din naman namin ang point nila,” Curtis enthused.

To set the record straight, she maintained that it was not the magazine’s intention to promote or to engage the youth into smoking.

“I don’t smoke. So I do not promote smoking. Just to be clear also,” shared Curtis.
