Sharon Cuneta Talks About Proposed Movie Projects

As her show The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition gets ready for its grand finale this coming September 30, host Sharon Cuneta is also getting ready to start shooting for her role as a call center agent in a yet-untitled Star Cinema movie which starts shooting next month, as well as other upcoming projects like proposed reunion movies with Richard Gomez and Judy Ann Santos.

With regards to aborted film project with Vilma Santos which will be pushed back to a later date, Sharon said she is still looking forward to sharing the big screen with the Star for All Seasons. After being paired together in the 2000 film Minsan Minahal Kita, Sharon says she is open to doing another film with Richard Gomez although there are no concrete plans about it yet. “Siguro matutuloy pero siguro it’s not with Star Cinema. Baka somewhere else. Hindi ko pa sure yung iba eh. Mag-mi-meet pa kami nila Boss Vic (Del Rosario) at ni Mother Lily (Monteverde),” she shared with Push.com.ph.

Fans of her 2002 flick Magkapatid with Judy Ann will also have to wait a little longer as the Megastar admitted she has not been formally offered to do that project just yet. “Wala pang kumakausap sa akin tungkol sa movie project na yan although isa yan sa mga ibi-bring up ni boss Vic sa meeting namin soon,” she said.

Sharon shared that she is also looking into getting into producing movies not just for herself but for other stars as well in the near future. “I’m going to go into co-production with certain projects. At saka I’m hoping na kahit hindi ako yung artista, sa iba makiki-co-prod ako possibly with Star Cinema and Viva. So dadahan-dahanin para naman maiba. Matagal ng plano yun. It’s just parang my time is really eaten up by all the projects I do as someone who works in front of the camera. And this is my bread and butter so it’s not a priority to co-produce. But it would be something nice ‘di ba? To be able to do it on the side,” she said.

The actress also admitted that for the first time in her life, she is now open to the idea of doing a teleserye if the right offer comes. “Aaralin ko yan at baka naman sakaling matuloy. Dahil interested din ako for the first time in my life. Pero kailangan ng schedule na maayos, hindi yung ang ganda ng teleserye mo pero naka-IV ka na kasi wala kang tulog (laughs). Hindi ko kaya yun. At gusto ko naman nakikita ang mga anak ko. So baka magawan ng paraan, depende yan. Sana ipagdasal natin matuloy. I am thinking it can be a light drama. There will be dramatic moments but it has to be inspiring.”

With a fully-booked showbiz schedule, Sharon also dispelled any rumors that hint on her entering politics in the near future. “I thank God I have no plans to enter politics. Kumplikado na enough as it is ang pulitika sa bansa natin na ang ginagawa ko imbis na isipin na sana maayos na yung bansa natin more than anything,” she said.

The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Final Weigh-In on October 8

The country’s biggest reality TV show “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” comes to an exciting finish when the Fab Five and other eliminated contestants come together for a final weigh-in that will determine who among Angela, Art, Hazel, Larry, and Raffy will lose the highest weight percentage since the start of the show and be declared the very first Pinoy Biggest Loser at the Grand Finale this October 8 (Sat) at the Ynares Stadium in Pasig.

Armed with the knowledge gained during their four-month stay in the Biggest Loser camp, the Bigating Pinoys continue their journey in the real world and undergo rigorous weight loss regimen without the help of trainers Chinggay Andrada and Jim Saret.

Through the weeks, viewers have seen how the reality show has transformed the contestants physically, mentally, and emotionally. Some have visibly lost weight, while others have gained more confidence. As they work towards the finals, the remaining Fab Five have their own strategies to win.

While sweethearts Hazel and Raffy try hard to work out twice a day, Art and Angela make sure they get enough sleep and have a balanced diet.

“All these years, I have carried so much burden, pain, humiliation, anger, and sadness. So every lost pound was like an excess baggage thrown away and a symbolism of the new me,” bar owner Art said.

By zooming in on the lives of overweight people and the negative impact of obesity on health, the program and its contestants have taught viewers how to adopt a healthy lifestyle and that losing weight can be achieved by exercising and eating the right food.

Hazel even considers joining the competition her second life, saying that it “unraveled the Hazel that has long been suppressed.” Though she admits that the whole world does not only revolve around losing weight, the Bigating Pinoys have proven that any obstacle can be overcome as long as one has the will and determination to reach his or her goal.

“There are times you gain weight instead of losing weight. You should exert more effort. Though there are times you fail, you should carry on and not give up,” she said.

The two other contestants affirmed how the show has transformed their lives. Sporting a new and healthier physique, Larry plans to return to the police force. On the other hand, Raffy has changed his outlook in life. He used to make excuses that stood between him and his weight goal but he now realizes that change must start with oneself.

“You don’t need to be a contestant in ‘Biggest Loser’ to lose weight. You only need yourself,” he said.

While the transformation of the Fab Five is evident, only one of them will be declared the first Pinoy Biggest Loser and take home P1 million, a newly furnished condominium unit from DCMI Homes, a Vespa scooter, a 40″ Sony Bravia Internet TV, Whirlpool appliances and a lifetime Fitness First membership.

The second placer will get P500,000, a Vespa scooter, Whirlpool appliances and one year Fitness First membership. On the other hand, the third placer will take home P300,000, a Vespa scooter, Fujidenzo Home Appliances, and one year Fitness First membership.

Not to be outdone are eliminated contestants Alan, Andy, Eboy, Edden, Eric, JM, Joy, Leigh, Ryan, and Winwin who will also battle at the grand finale weigh-in. The one who will lose the highest percentage of their initial weight will be proclaimed the At-Home Winner and will get P200,000 and one year Fitness First membership.

Who will emerge as the first ever Pinoy Biggest Loser? Catch the “Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Wellness Fair and Grand Finale” on October 8 (Saturday) at the Ynares Stadium in Pasig, with host Sharon Cuneta, game master Derek Ramsay, and trainers Chinggay Andrada and Jim Saret.

Reggae Band and African-Pinay Belter Made It on Second Semi-Finals of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 3

The country’s number one talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” heats up as more diverse acts fill the roster of grand finalists who will compete for P2 million in the much-awaited season finale.

For the second round of semi-finals, reggae band Sandugo Band and Fil-Nigerian diva Muriel Lomadilla made the cut. Laguna’s pride Sandugo Band topped the nationwide votes.

Muriel, on the other hand, competed with Geo Ed Rebucas’ Mariah Carey piece but in the end, her rendition of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep got the votes of judges Kris Aquino and Fredd M. Garcia, thereby putting her through the finals.

Will one of them become the grand winner? Keep watching “Pilipinas Got Talent,” hosted by Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford, airing live at the PAGCOR Grand Theater Airport Casino Filipino Paranaque City every Saturday, 9:15 PM, and Sunday, 8:30 PM, on ABS-CBN.

Jessy Mendiola on Budoy

Actress Jessy Mendiola wants to avoid being typecast in sexy roles.

Mendiola, who rose to fame by playing the lead role in sexy television series "Sabel," is set to appear on ABS-CBN's upcoming show "Budoy" opposite hunk actor Gerald Anderson.

"Thank God at hindi ako na-typecast sa ganoong role," she said, referring to sexy roles.

Asked about her role in "Budoy," Mendiola said, "Ibang iba po siya sa 'Sabel.' Sa 'Budoy' po very much good girl po ang role ko."

Last month, Mendiola admitted she has been receiving hate mail and negative tweets since she started to work with Anderson for "Budoy."

It was reported that there are still members of Kimerald -- fans of the loveteam of Anderson and actress Kim Chiu -- who do not like Anderson's new leading lady.

In an interview, Mendiola said she fully understands the reaction of some fans.

Members of Kimerald, however, have denied that the hate mail came from them.

Biggest Loser Fab 5 Open to Showbiz Career

The five finalists of "The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition" are one in saying that they may consider a career in entertainment.

The Fab 5, namely Art Mendoza, Hazel Chua, Larry Martin, Raffy Tan and Angela Lupangco, revealed their reasons why they want to become stars as well as their dream roles and projects during a press conference on Tuesday.

"Of course comedy ang una, pero gusto ko ring i-try ang drama. I don't know why, pero gusto ko lang ding i-try ang drama," said Tan, who said he wants his sweetheart, Chua, to be his leading lady.

Chua, a Christine Jacob lookalike, said she would like to work with Prince of Indie Coco Martin.

"If given a chance po, why not po. Kung mayroon pong offer, okay lang po sa akin," she said.

Martin, a former policeman, said he really wants to have a project with his idol, Prince of Action Robin Padilla.

"Walang iba siyempre kung hindi si idol, si Robin Padilla. Action talaga ang gusto ko. Hindi na ako pwede sa drama kasi matanda na ako," he shared.

Meanwhile, Mendoza and Lupangco said they want to work with "The Biggest Loser" hosts Sharon Cuneta and Derek Ramsay.

"Siyempre gusto kong makasama si Ms. Sharon at Derek kasi sila ang nakasama [ko] sa camp, so masarap lang na makasama sila ulit. Pero gusto ko din si Judy Ann, kasi medyo ma-drama din ako sa buhay. More on drama talaga ako. Comedy pwede rin," Lupangco said.

For his part, Mendoza said, "I will take an opportunity if it's given to me."

"The Biggest Loser" is set to hold its grand finale on October 8 at the Ynares Gym in Pasig City.

Ejay Falcon Says No to Casual Sex

For actor Ejay Falcon, sex should only be done by couples who truly love and care about each other.

Falcon, who is part of ABS-CBN series "Guns and Roses," said it was his father who told him to be extra careful when it comes to having sex.

"Kung hahantong doon (sex), dapat eh mahal mo ang babae at hindi lang [tawag ng laman]," he told "KrisTV" host Kris Aquino on Tuesday.

"Ang sinasabi niya (father) laging mag-ingat. Basta 'yun ang sinabi niya sa akin. Huwag kang gagawa ng isang bagay na pagsisisihan mo."

Falcon and other Kapamilya stars Empress Schuck, Jessy Mendiola and Enrique Gil guested on "KrisTV" on Tuesday to discuss teen relationships.

Last year, rumors surfaced that Falcon got a non-celebrity girl from Mindoro pregnant. The actor has denied the said rumors, which he called "baseless."

He added that he can never leave a pregnant woman behind.

Martin del Rosario Looks Up to Coco Martin

Actor Martin del Rosario said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Coco Martin.

The two actors worked together in the defunct ABS-CBN television series "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin."

"Sana si Coco Martin, kaya tuwang-tuwa ako noong makasama ko si Coco," he told abs-cbnNEWS.com during the Star Magic-BNY press conference on Monday.

"Pero before pa mag-'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin' nakita ko si Coco na magaling na aktor talaga, 'yung sa 'Tayong Dalawa' at 'yung mga indie films. Grabe ang ganda talaga," he added.

Del Rosario said that he admires not only Martin's versatility as an actor but also his kind heart.

"Tinuturuan niya ako, alam mo ang bait ni Coco sa scene. Tinutulungan niya ako minsan kung paano mag-monotone. Tapos sinasabihan niya ako na 'oy, hindi mo character yan dapat ganito ka.' Ang bait talaga ni Coco, tinutulungan niya ako," he shared.

Del Rosario said he is flattered when he is touted as the next Coco Martin.

"Siyempre kapag sinabing Coco Martin eh big time," he said.

He stressed, however, that he still wants to make a name for himself in local showbiz.

"Gusto ko ding makilala as a dramatic actor pero ayaw ko namang parehong-pareho kami. Baka iba sasabihin eh 'si Coco yan,' ayaw ko naman ng ganoon," he said.

Asked if he is willing to do daring scenes just like Martin, del Rosario said, "Hindi naman. Siguro pa-sexy pero hindi naman 'yung dating indie."

Del Rosario is set to do a new television series. He is also part of the upcoming film of Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson.

Sam Concepcion's Peter Pan Starts This September

STAGES and Repertory Philippines’ Peter Pan is undeniably the biggest musical of the year- an apt project for the celebration of its star Sam Concepcion’s 10th year in showbiz.

Peter Pan goes onstage at the Meralco Theater from September 30 to October 30.
Forever Young, the promo single for Peter Pan, entered the twitter trending charts (along with Sam) after the song was launched last Sunday at ASAP Rocks.

Peter Pan further cements Sam’s stature as the prime leading man of family musicals in the country having topbilled three hit productions The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, High School Musical, and NOAH.

“Peter Pan is big in so many aspects. It can be said that this is the most expensive show I have been in,” says Sam. “I am very fortunate that this project has been entrusted to me.”

This production is also the first time that this version of Peter Pan, written by Stiles and Drewe and the late Willis Hall, will be staged in Asia. It relives Sir James Barrie’s timeless tale of the boy who never grew up.

“People can expect a lot of flying from Peter Pan,” says Sam. “It is a perfect show for the whole family.”

Aside from Sam, Peter Pan also stars Michael Williams as Hook, and ABS-CBN’s rising star Tippy Dos Santos (Idol, Shoutout) as Wendy with Cara Barredo as alternate. Jaime Del Mundo and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo direct this production.

Undoubtedly, Sam is one of the most talented performers of this generation dabbling into acting for movies (Shake, Rattle and Roll 9, Cinco, Way Back Home), and TV series (Super Inggo, Walang Kapalit, I Love Betty La Fea and Good Vibes), performing (I’ll Find Your Heart 1 and 2, front act for Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift), recording (Sam Concepcion, Pop Class), and hosting and performing for TV (ASAP Rocks, Shoutout).

“Everything I have learned in my endeavors from the last decade, you will see when you watch Peter Pan,” enthuses Sam.

“This is one unforgettable show, so I hope everyone will catch this fun, fun show.”
Peter Pan goes onstage starting September 30- October 30 at the Meralco Theater. For tickets, call Ticketworld at 891-9999.

Patrol ng Pilipino Probes on the Oversupply of Pinoy Nurses

The country is experiencing a surplus of nurses with around 200,000 registered nurses currently unemployed, with some of them even offering free services or even paying to undergo so-called training.

The glut in nurses came as a result of a strong demand for nurses and the proliferation of nursing schools around the country in the past ten years. Filipinos were attracted by the prospects of a better and more comfortable living, which to many, could only be achieved by working overseas.

In “Patrol ng Pilipino” tomorrow (Sep 20), Jasmin Romero reports on the high-risk working conditions that volunteer nurses face while working without benefits or hazard pay. Earlier this year, the plight of volunteer Filipino nurses has been discussed in the Senate. But up to now, nothing concrete has been made to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, Jeff Canoy travels to Japan for the Tokyo Game Show 2011, where many international video game developers show off their upcoming games and soon-to-be newest craze in game-related hardware. Watch these stories tomorrow (September 20) in “Patrol ng Pilipino,” Tuesday night after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN or earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable channel 26) at 9:15 pm.
