Lauren Young on Indie Film Zombadings

Currently enjoying downtime after her afternoon series Mula Sa Puso ended last August, Lauren Young is happy with all the positive feedback she has been getting from the commercial run of her indie movie Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington. “For an indie, maganda yung response na nakukuha namin. Siyempre pinaghirapan namin ito kaya it feels good na sinusuportahan siya they way that they support yung mga mainstream na movies because indie movies sometimes hindi siya nabibigyan ng justice. Yung mga indie film naman talaga, doon may mga magagandang stories din eh. And this movie has a solid storyline. I’m not criticizing mainstream movies naman kasi they’re really good movies, maganda rin yung mga kuwento nila but siyempre at the same time it’s nice to see something different once in a while,” she says during the opening of Chic Nails salon along Katipunan, Quezon City.

In Zombadings, Lauren plays the role of Hannah, the object of affection of the lead character Remington, played by Mart Escudero. Lauren admitted that she thinks part of the movies appeal lies in the unique story. “When do you get to see a movie about gay people and zombies at the same time? You don’t really see that so parang something fresh siya. Kaya siguro din maganda yung nakukuha niyang response. Plus I love gay people. They make our hearts very warm and they make us laugh and you can see that on the big screen here,” she added.

Lauren admitted that since it hit the theaters, she has already watched it three times with different groups of people. “It’s nice to watch it because it’s a funny movie. I didn’t watch it only because I’m part of it, I’m supporting it pero siguro kasi I’d have to watch it again and again because all my friends want to watch it so sasama ako sa kanila. It’s nice kasi and the movie is a very funny movie naman talaga,” she told Push.com.ph.

The 17-year-old Fil-Am beauty said she was already confident about the film even from the very beginning. “I knew that it would be a great movie. Why would I do something that I didn’t believe in ‘di ba? Siyempre nervous pa rin ako nung una kasi what if it turned out na people don’t have the same reaction I have to this movie? Pero at least natatanggap siya so I’m very happy about the response na nakukuha namin, all the messages and tweets is about Zombadings that I received basically,” she admitted.

Lauren said she also enjoyed the work environment on their set even though it was her first time to work with actors Mart Escudero and Kirbie Zamora. “Okay naman kami. Nakakatawa kasi sila eh. They’re very easy to work with. It was an indie set so parang very laidback lang kami. Hindi kami nag-ru-rush lagi. So naging madali naman sila katrabaho,” she stated.

When asked if this might be the start of a career in doing independent films, Lauren said she is open to taking on even more challenging projects in the future. “I’m very open to do anything naman. I mean, something new is very good for me and if indie is my path or if it’s mainstream, either way as long as it’s acting and as long as there’s a solid story, as long as marurunong ang mga katrabaho ko at may matututunan ako in the process, doon ako pupunta,” she said.

Maja Salvador Ready to Talk With Coco Martin

After her US trip for the Kapamilya Teleserye tour, Maja Salvador shared that she is excited to fly back to the US for the international screening of her movie Thelma. The movie was invited to be part of the Cultural and Literacy Program of the 31st Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) which will run from October 13 to 23. Maja will be joined by director Paul Soriano as well as the producers of Thelma. “Inimbitahan kami dun. I guess pagkabalik ko ng US tour namin, lipad naman ako after two days papunta Hawaii for Thelma. Si Jason Abalos actually ang alam ko didiretso siya dun. Hindi ko lang alam kung pinayagan siya. Kasi part din siya ng Thelma. So he’s also invited,” she shared during her appearance as a Chic Nails Salon celebrity endorser.

The 22-year-old actress admitted that she has already made preparations with regards to what she will be wearing at the film festival. “Kinausap ko si Pepsi Herrera kasi siya yung paborito ko ngayon. Sobrang pinaganda niya ako nung Star Magic Ball, pati nung dalawang premiere night ng Thelma. Sobrang gaganda ng mga ginawa niya so sabi ko mas pagandahin mo pa sa festival sa Hawaii,” she shared.

With regards to the recent revelation that she and Matteo Guidicelli are indeed seeing each other, Maja demurred from giving additional details to the press. “Siguro sa amin na lang din yun. Siguro enough na na nalaman ng public na we’re together and hanggang dun na lang. Parang we decided na not to update everything in public. So okay na yun. Okay na lang na alam niyo na we’re together, tama na yun. May mga info na kayong nalaman sa The Buzz so yun na lang,” she said.

Maja, who plays the role of an aspiring runner from the province in the movie Thelma, said she is happy now despite the recent events that have taken place in her life like the recent altercation between her boyfriend Matteo and Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin co-star Coco Martin. “Basta lagi po akong masaya. Sabi ko nga sa mga interviews ko dati, hindi naman laging masaya, halos lahat nga ng puwede ngang mapagdaanan ng isang tao mapagdadaanan niya talaga. So tao lang din po ako. Isa rin akong ordinaryong tao na napagdaanan lahat ng napagdadaanan ng lahat ng ordinaryong tao,” she admitted.

Maja said that although she has not yet spoken to Coco, she knows they will be able to smooth things over when they go on the Teleserye tour with other Kapamilya celebrities from different TV series. “Sana makapag-usap kami soon. Kasi meron naman kaming US tour. We’re a love team so siguradong maaayos lahat. Makakapag-usap kami. Kaya abangan pa rin nila kami sa US tour,” she said. When asked if them spending time abroad together will spark another issue between her and Matteo, Maja chose to deflect the query by answering, “You can ask Matteo.”

Budoy Soon on Primetime Bida

Gerald Anderson is back on television as he stars in ABS-CBN’s first advocacy serye, “Budoy” where he will play the role of a boy suffering from a delay in mental development.

First introduced to the Philippine audience via hit reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition,” Gerald worked his way up to become one of this generation’s most sought after dramatic actors and leading men with his remarkable hit teleseryes “Sana Maulit Muli,” “My Girl,” Tayong Dalawa,” and “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.”

As Gerald returns on primetime, he will be joined by promising young stars of this generation, Jessy Mendiola and Enrique Gil.

Rising primetime princess Jessy will play the role of Jackie, Budoy’s childhood friend who dreams of becoming a teacher while rising dramatic heartthrob Enrique Gil will play the role of Benjamin, Budoy’s rival in love and the boy who has everything except his mother’s warmth and his father’s approval.

The advocacy serye marks the return of Janice de Belen to the Kapamilya network. She will play the role of Bebang, Budoy’s caretaker who adopted him after he was disowned by his real family.

Budoy, played by Gerald, is the son of Dr. Gregor Maniego (Tirso Cruz III), the top ob-gynecologist in the Philippines and Luisa Maniego (Zsa zsa Padilla), Dr. Maniego’s secretary who he chose to marry despite his mother mother’s disapproval.

Dr. Maniego came from a family of doctors—his mother Dr. Alberta Maniego (Barbara Perez) is a brilliant oncologist while his brother Dr. Isaac Maniego (Christian Vasquez) is a famous brain surgeon.

Budoy’s birth is a family blessing that later on turned into a family shame when they discovered that Budoy is suffering from Angel Syndrome, which delays the intellectual development of a child.

The family decided to hide their “dishonor”—their abnormal son Budoy—and replace him with a normal child.

“Budoy’s” power cast will be joined by veteran stars Gloria Sevilla, Dante Rivero, and Mylene Dizon.

ABS-CBN is proud to present “Budoy,” the newest primetime drama which is set to inspire the whole country.
