Pureza Earns P8.46 Million for First 5 Days

For the opening weekend of July 13 to 17, Box Office Mojo reported that the launching movie of Pinoy Big Brother winner Melai Cantiveros titled “The Adventures of Pureza: Queen of the Riles” has managed to earn P8.46 million on its first 5 days (Wednesday to Sunday) and ranked 4th overall. The film braced the highly-anticipated opening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2″ which topped Philippine box-office with a haul of P154.1 million in 4 days (Thursday to Sunday).

One of Angeline Quintos' cloud nine moments was when The Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez remarked that she is the next Superstar after their duet in Angeline's first concert "Patuloy ang Pangarap" last July 15.

But this same remark stirred up comments from different people, especially the loyal fans of Nora Aunor, who believe that the singer-actress is irreplaceable. Iya Villania Faces Biggest Challenge in I Dare You

With her hands full with hosting duties on Kapamilya shows like Umagang Kay Ganda, I Dare You, and Studio 23’s Us Girls and with being a MYX VJ, Iya Villania said her hosting skills are still constantly being challenged especially with her newest reality show, I Dare You. “It’s really quite an experience. I’ve never had this kind of experience before. It’s really different and something that’s really for the books. Hindi ko makakalimutan. Each and every taping day it’s always a new setting, there’s always a different situation. It’s always a different experience. Kung paano ka na lang maaapektuhan or matatamaan, that really depends on the situation, where you are and the people you are surrounded with,” she told Push.com.ph.

The 25-year-old host said that since the new reality series has a different set of celebrity challengers and beneficiaries each week, it adds to the unique quality of the show, which is a first time collaboration between ABS-CBN’s News and Current Affairs division and TV Entertainment Group.

Iya considers it one of the biggest challenges to host a show like I Dare You. “I think ang pinaka-challenging sa akin is ang pagiging host dito. I think that we’re not just hosts kasi, we’re just as good as challengers. Kasi babad din kami. We’re there by the challenger’s side, with each challenge that they do. We also have to have that authority. We need to motivate, we need to keep everyone together. Kailangan pa naming intindihin yung mechanics, the rules. So it’s really quite a workload too. It’s also a mental and physical workout. You really need good rest before and after taping for this show because it really takes so much out of you,” she explained.

A self-confessed morning person, Iya said she really makes it a priority to get enough rest now that she’s juggling three shows at the same time. “Physically, I work out kaya it’s really tiring. That’s why sleep is so important to me. Quality is very important, so if I have to sacrifice something, I’d rather sacrifice that instead of looking like an idiot or tired on cam,” she admitted.

Iya shared that her longtime boyfriend Drew Arellano has also been very supportive of her doing I Dare You, even when there was a possibility of they’re shows going head to head with each other. “He was not surprised I accepted this project. He knows how I can be. He was pretty excited also. Initially nga katapat nga nito yung show niya eh. But he didn’t think anything of it naman, wala naman. Friendly competition pa rin,” she admitted.

Iya said she is also happy with her I Dare You co-hosts Jericho Rosales and Melai Cantiveros. “I’d like to think that we gel. I’d like to think that we complement each other. Echo’s the authoritative one. I’m more of the kabarkada of the challengers than them. Then you have Melai who’s the comedian. Even at the beginning, I think we were able to get along well with each other,” she shared.

Even after over eight years of hosting experience, Iya said she is still looking forward to experiencing new things when it comes to hosting. “I don’t know what else I’d like to do. Anything that’s different siguro. Anything that I’m not familiar with is a challenge and I love challenges,” she admitted.

Sarah Geronimo Excited to Do Movie Again With Gerald Anderson

Ngayon pa lang ay excited na si Sarah Geronimo sa pagsasamahang muli nila ni Gerald Anderson sa isang pelikula. Recently kasi ay lumabas na ang balitang gagawa muli sila ni Gerald ng pelikula, pagkatapos nilang magtambal sa Catch Me…I’m In Love nitong nakaraang Marso lang.

Sa interview sa Pop Star Princess noong Linggo (July 24) sa ASAP Rocks, ikinuwento niya na ipinatawag na sila ng Star Cinema para sa pinakahuling development ng proyekto. “Opo tuloy naman [na ang pelikula]. Nagpatawag na ng meeting tapos idiniscuss na ‘yung characters namin pero wala pang final na story or script,” pahayag ni Sarah at idinagdag na excited na siyang makasama muli si Gerald sa pelikula.

Nang itanong kay Sarah kung may posibilidad bang mas maging close sila ni Gerald this time, mukhang hindi ito prayoridad ng dalaga. “Okay lang naman kahit hindi kami magpalitan ng numbers,” paliwanag niya. Noong ginawa kasi nila ang Catch Me… inamin nila pareho na hindi sila umabot sa puntong magpalitan ng cellphone numbers. “Okay naman kami as co-actors, nae-enjoy naman namin ‘yung company ng isa’t-isa. Kumbaga professional kaming nagtatrabaho. Hindi naman pressure na kailangan maging close na close kami. Kasi andudun ‘yung chemistry. Kahit na wala ‘yung ganung closeness nakaka-amaze kasi hindi naman kami nagkatrabaho nang matagal.”

Bukod pa sa pelikula with Gerald, may lumabas ding balita na posibleng magsama uli sila ni John Lloyd Cruz sa pelikula for the third time at posibleng mangyari daw ito sa susunod na taon.

Kuwento pa ni Sarah excited din daw siyang muling makatambal si Lloydy. “Na-miss ko talaga ‘yung working with him,” pag-amin niya. “Kumbaga magaling talagang aktor [si John Lloyd]. Sabi ko nga alam kong andami na ring naghihintay na rin [na magsama uli kami sa pelikula], isa na ko dun kasi fan din ako nina Migui at Laida (ang mga characters nila sa dalawang movie sequels, ang A Very Special Love at You Changed My Life).”

Sarah Geronimo Turns 23

At age 23, Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo continues to set aside her love life.

She did not include it in her birthday wish list, just like last year, saying that now is not the right time for her to fall in love.

"Hindi pa talaga tamang panahon para ma-in love ako, kasi once na ma-in love ako eh nag-iiba talaga. Puro lang love, love, love lang na 'yun. Siguro kapag right time na," Geronimo, who celebrated her birthday on Monday, July 25, said in an interview on ABS-CBN's "Showbiz News Ngayon."

Geronimo was once romantically linked to actor-dancer Rayver Cruz, who is currently dating sexy actress Cristine Reyes.

Aside from continued success in her career, she wants one other thing for her birthday: an antique turntable.

"'Yung gusto ko na turntable, gustong gusto ko lang 'yung antique na ganoon, gustong gusto ko nakikita yung plaka na umiikot at kapag nilalagay yung pin, needle," she said.

"Sana magpatuloy pa kung anuman ang mayroon ako na success at 'yung magandang relationship ko with my family at sa Panginoon mag-strengthen pa 'yung aking faith at mag-grow pa as a person."

Currently, Geronimo is one of the performers of ABS-CBN Sunday noontime show "ASAP Rocks." She is set to do a project with drama actor Gerald Anderson, his leading man in her last film, "Catch Me, I'm In Love."

"Sobrang excited at siyempre nandoon ang pressure kasi mas mataas ang expectation ng mga tao ngayon. So I'm praying na mas magiging maganda itong proyekto namin ni Gerald," she said.

Maria Aragon Starts Recording First Album

Maria Aragon has set foot in the studio to record her first album.

Days after arriving from Canada, the 11-year-old YouTube sensation continues to live out her dream in the Philippines as she becomes the newest Kapamilya pop singer.

Among the songs in Aragon's new album is her rendition of Lady Gaga's “Born This Way,” which catapulted her to international recognition. It can be remembered that Lady Gaga herself invited Aragon to perform the song with her at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The Filipino-Canadian also takes a crack at singing Original Pilipino Music or OPM in her album with "Kung Bubuksan Mo Puso Mo."

Aragon admitted that she is still in disbelief with the stardom that has welcomed her here in the Philippines, but said that she is inspired by Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and his outlook on career and spirituality.

She added that she wants to stay grounded and be a normal kid despite all the attention she is getting.

Aragon has already shared a song number with Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo on "ASAP Rocks," ABS-CBN's musical variety show. She is set to perform with Concert King Martin Nievera on the same show this Sunday.

She will also be the voice of Star Cinema's upcoming movie with actresses Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes as she sings "Way Back Home," her first movie soundtrack.

Former Blue Team Leader Eliminated in The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition

Alan Choachuy, the leader of the former Blue Team, was ousted from the Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition after receiving five votes in last Monday’s elimination ceremony that pitted him against Art, the leader of the former Red Team.

Art and Alan fell below the yellow line during the weigh-in after losing the least percentage of weight. They could have both been saved if Ryan and Eboy, the bets of the original Bigating Pinoys, beat wild cards Andy and Leigh in the weigh-in.

Ryan and Eboy only had an average weight loss of 3.02% compared to 3.31% weight loss of Andy and Leigh. Ryan, who earned a five pound advantage in the Temptation challenge, still emerged a winner as the Biggest Loser of the Week with a weight loss of 4.72%.

Alan, showing no tears, frustration, or anger, gave the program’s most graceful exit. He, however, admitted that it was hard for him to part with his co-contestants as they have become a family inside.

“I miss first, Larry, because we always did things together like training and cooking. Art, because we were the leaders of our teams and we always motivated each other. I also miss Angela, she is super sweet and I feel like she is my younger sister,” he shared.

For Angela who joined the show to become fit to start a family, Alan said he hopes that she and her husband will soon experience what he and wife Caroline felt when they had their first baby.

Alan is bent on continuing his journey to a healthy and fit lifestyle. In fact, he intends to join fun runs and hopes to eventually run a half marathon. He said the lessons he learned inside the camp has kept him motivated.

“I learned that it’s never too late to make a change, and before you want to change other people, you should look yourself in the mirror. Start with you and be a role model,” he said.

This week, Angela, Andy, Art, Eboy, Hazel, Larry, Leigh, Raffy, Ryan, and Winwin will have to do a variety of labor, from an ice plant to a poultry farm and a car repair shop, in order to provide food for them at the camp.
