Star Magic Artists All Set for US Tour

Nauna nang umalis last Saturday papuntang America sina Kim Chiu at Gerald Anderson para sa Star Magic U.S. concert tour. Kahapon ng umaga ay marami pang Star Magic artists ang lumipad para sa nasabing show. Sa airport pa lamang ay spotted na bumaba mula sa iisang sasakyan ang magkasintahang sina John Lloyd Cruz at Shaina Magdayao. “Siyempre masaya dahil mabibisita na naman natin yung mga kapamilya natin sa ibang bansa. Siyempre my family is there, yung pamangkin ko, kaya excited na rin akong makita sila,” pahayag ni Shaina. In-invite naman ni John Lloyd ang lahat ng kapamilyang nasa Amerika na panoorin ang kanilang show doon. Nakatakda ring mag-celebrate ng kanilang first anniversary sa U.S. bukas sina John Lloyd at Shaina. “We are looking forward in celebrating our first anniversary in America,” pahayag ni Lloydie. Ayaw naman daw mag-expect ni Shaina ng kahit anong sorpresa from her boyfriend. “Ano ba naman, pressure naman ‘yan. As long as we’re together siguro okay lang,” nakangiting sagot naman ni Shaina.

Spotted din na magkasama ang special friends na sina Bea Alonzo at Zanjoe Marudo. Ngayon ay mukhang open na sa publiko ang dalawa kung ano man ang kanilang relasyon. “Nako! Madami kaming gagawin dito. Siyempre may kakanta, may sasayaw, papakita ng mga talents ang Star Magic,” pahayag ni Zanjoe. “Nasa L.A. (Los Angeles) kami, San Jose and New York kaya abangan n’yo po kami mga TFC (The Filipino Channel) subcribers,” pahayag naman ni Bea.

Bukod sa dalawang pares ay umalis na rin kahapon ng umaga sina Diether Ocampo, Erich Gonzales, Jovit Baldivino at Rafael Rosell na pawang mga excited magpasaya ng mga Kapamilya sa Amerika. “I’m vey excited, not only that I will be able to entertain a lot of Filipinos. Makakasama din natin yung mga kamag-anak at kaibigan natin,” pahayag ni Diether. “Honored that I’ll be joining them again and of course performing to all these people sa tatlong different cities. It’s gonna be adventure again,” pahayag naman ni Rafael.

Kaninang umaga ay umalis na rin ang ilan pang Star Magic artists like Pokwang, Sam Milby, Maja Salvador, Chokoleit and KC Concepcion para sa kanilang Star Magic 18 U.S. concert tour.

ANC's Storyline Wins at New York Festivals Award

ABS-CBN News Channel’s (ANC) weekly documentary, Storyline, won at the recently concluded New York Festivals' Television and Film Awards held in Las Vegas.

The television show bagged the silver medal for the biography-profiles category and bronze medal under community portraits.

Storyline's winning entries were "Alexis and Nika", "Orphan" and "Stolen."

Storyline uses powerful narrative and compelling cinematic work to tell its stories.

Other ABS-CBN TV programs also received finalist certificates, namely Altar (Copywriting: Promotion Spot), I Survived (Docudrama), Storyline (Social Issues/Current Events), Dahil May Isang Ikaw (Telenovelas), Magkaribal (Telenovelas), and TV Patrol's Bloodbath in Manila (Coverage of Breaking News).

The New York Festivals gives recognition to the "world's best works" in news, sports, documentary, information and entertainment programs.

Jomari Yllana and Aiko Melendez Reunite in Atom

This time, it is estranged couple Jomari Yllana and Aiko Melendez who will reuniting also soon.

But this one is not through a movie but an ABS-CBN fantasy series entitled “Atom,” which stars child actor Bugoy Carino.

For the role, Aiko is requested to lose weight, according to published reports, and already, she has dropped some pounds, although she herself admits that she has to lose some more.

The series is her comeback of sorts, as for the last nine years, Aiko concentrated on being a politician. She was twice elected as councilor of the second district of Quezon City.

Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! on April 23

It’s a first that everybody has been waiting for — the first team-up of Vic Sotto and Bea Alonzo which is finally coming true in Star Cinema’s Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!

For Vic, Pak! Pak! is like a homecoming to the company for which he has done some films, among them Hindi Pa Tapos Ang Labada, Darling with his ex-wife Dina Bonnevie, which was such a hit that it was followed by a sequel.

Directed by Tony Reyes, Vic’s favorite director (who is behind all of Vic’s comic box-office smasheroos, some if not all of them Metro Filmfest top-grossers), Pak! Pak! is the perfect welcome distraction in times like this when all that we see on the front pages and in the newscasts are heart-breaking stories of disasters, man-made or natural, and wars in every corner of the world.

“We need to laugh,” Vic has been saying all along.

Known for her romantic-comedy movie starrers and TV dramas, Bea welcomes this rare chance to go comic with the Comedy Master himself as co-star and guide.

“I’m honored,” said Bea.

Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! also stars Zaijian Jaranilla, the sensational star of the top-rater soap May Bukas Pa and Noah.

In the story, Zaijian plays mischievous angel Angelito who is sent to earth from heaven with a special mission: To convince Vic as Angelo, a “fake” healer, to change his crooked ways. The problem is that Angelito hates human beings because he feels that they are not “innately good.”

Bea as Cielo, an intern doctor, hates Angelo because the family-owned pharmacy has gone bankrupt since Angelo started his “faith” healing business.

With his miraculous powers, Angelito unwittingly helps Angelo in his “faith” healing business, prompting Cielo to exert more effort in unveiling Angelo’s fakery.

The twist is that in the process, Cielo discovers the good side of Angelo and soon falls for him, much to Angelito’s joy. As to be expected, love turns the “fake” healer into a good person.

The plot is right along Vic’s alley.

Noted for being a ladies’ man, can Vic falls for his leading lady the way his Angelo character does in the story — and vice-versa?

Vic is fancy-free after his break-up with Pia Guanio but the little problem is that Bea is going steady with Zanjoe Marudo.

But then, life can imitate art, right?

Also featuring Pokwang, Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo.

Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak! opens on April 23 in more than 100 theaters nationwide.
