Celebrities React to Willie Revillame's Tirades Against Them

Several celebrities mentioned by television host Willie Revillame in his "farewell speech" last Friday reacted to the “Willing Willie” host's tirades.

Most of them also took to Twitter where they first expressed their opinions against the issue on a gyrating 10-year-old on Revillame's show in TV5.

Revillame lashed at Jim Paredes, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Bianca Gonzalez, Tuesday Vargas, and international star Lea Salonga for their opinions on an issue that has led the show's major advertisers to withdraw, has become the subject of a regulatory inquiry, and has resulted in Revillame's 2-week leave from the show.

Celebrities Vargas and Dizon shrugged off Revillame's tirades.

“pack up! now ko lang nabasa lahat ng tweets. In light of this uproar, I will remain tolerant and silent,” Vargas tweeted.

Dizon, on the other hand, said: “I will not be bullied. I [am] not threatened. Sticks and stones may break my bones but your words will never hurt me.”

TV host Gonzales and singer-songwriter Paredes said Revillame's tirades were not able to hurt them or their image.

“i really believe that what a person says or writes is a reflection of the kind of person he or she is. :),” according to Gonzalez's tweet.

"i learned a lot on twitter tonight! difference between an informed and uninformed opinion. :)" she added in a reply to her Twitter friends.

Paredes downplayed himself in his tweet: “How can a laos, old, over the hill guy like me destroy a sikat, powerful, rich Superstar like Willie?"

"He did it all by himself,” he said, purportedly referring to Revillame.

Singer Isidro, whom Revillame said has no right to join in the chorus since she does not have a child, gave a general reply in her Twitter account.

“Coz I am beautiful in every single way, words can't bring me down,” she said.

While most of the celebrities refused to comment on camera, Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga expressed hers when asked about it while attending a protest rally in Ayala Alabang on Saturday.

Salonga said that she has not seen Revillame's statement but she said she “was within my rights to comment and express my opinion [because] we live in a democracy.”

The international singer also said in her official Twitter account that she won’t say anything provocative about it.

“And that is all I'm going to say. Nothing incendiary will be coming from me. No need for it,” she said.

Moreover, Aiza Seguerra in a text message sent to ABS-CBN News by her manager Ms. Malou Choa-Fagar said she chooses to to stay quiet.

Vic Sotto Thanks Bea Alonzo for Working With Him

Prince of Comedy Vic Sotto expressed his gratitude to actress Bea Alonzo for working with him in a comedy film.

Alonzo, who usually does dramas, is the newest big screen leading lady of Sotto in the family-comedy movie "Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!" under Star Cinema and M-Zet Production, Inc.

"Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity. It was my pleasure to work with you. Thank you for all the bonding moments and all the kuwentuhans," said Sotto, who's considered to be the all-time box office king.

The actor also praised Alonzo as a good actress and hopes that they could do a project again.

"Thank you for laughing with us. You are a good actress and hoping to work with you again," Sotto added.

In a separate interview, Alonzo also thanked Sotto saying that she had a great time working with him.

"I had a blast. Talagang hindi ko makakalimutan sa buhay ko ang pakikipag-trabaho sa kanila," said Alonzo adding, "Nami-miss ko na sila agad. May senti mode. Ito kasi ang mga taong hindi ko nakikita lagi sa hallway ng ABS-CBN, alam mo 'yon? Iba ang kultura, iba ang experience, plus most of them are all comedians. So walang dull moment sa set at mami-miss ko ang dinner namin sa set na almost every day."

Alonzo said that it's her first comedy film and first project with Sotto.

"First ko ito, pero papalakpakan dito sila bossing Vic at ang mga bata, sila Xyriel (Manabat), Zaijan (Jaranilla), sila Jose. Ako, hindi siguro," Alonzo said.

Alonzo, on the other hand, said it was a dream come true for her to finally work with the veteran actor, who will reportedly play a fake doctor in the film.

The actress and the Prince of Comedy recently had their last shooting day in Tanay, Rizal.

The film, directed by Tony Reyes, will hit theaters on April 23.

Coco Martin Torn Between Andi Eigenmann and Maja Salvador

Goin Bulilit Celebrates Araw ng Kagitingan

Kim Atienza Up Close and Personal With Butanding in Matanglawin

Kim Atienza finally encounters the rare butanding or whale shark in the waters of Donsol, Sorsogon this Sunday (Apr 10) in the second part of the special third anniversary offering of multi-awarded educational program “Matanglawin.”

Kuya Kim and his team were lucky that the butanding, which is the biggest fish in the world, is in the mood to show itself even in front of the camera.

The moment the Trivia King saw its fins at pop in the surface, he immediately grabbed the opportunity and jumped into the sea.

“It was the giant fish itself that approached us. This is a sea creature that the Philippines can be truly proud off,” he said.

Maliksi Morales Transformation in Wansapanataym

Maliksi Morales, brother of Makisig Morales who’s now all grown up, sets on a cute yet lesson-filled story tonight on “Wansapanataym” on ABS-CBN.

Maliksi will breathe life to the character of Juan, a ten-year old kid who loves playing basketball. Juan has always wanted to have a basketball court in their garden. One day, he cuts a tree in their yard so that there would be enough space for the court he wants. To his surprise, he wakes up the next day with his arms looking like branches of a tree. Gradually, he transforms until he becomes a real tree. What will happen to Juan? How will he transform back to his normal body?

Maliksi was part of the hits series ‘Momay’ where he starred side by side with Xyriel Manabat.

On the other hand, ‘Wansapanataym’ continues to dominate its timeslot. Last Saturday (April 2), ‘Wansapanataym’ landed on the third spot of the top 20 most-watched programs nationwide according to Kantar Media/TNS with a 24.8% rating. It nosed it its rival program on GMA 7 which only got a 17.2% national rating.

Wally and Jose on Possible Kapamilya Show

Bagamat hindi pa kumpirmado pero naibahagi ni Jose ang pagbibiro sa kanya ng Kapamilya Network lady big boss na si Charo Santos tungkol sa posibilidad na pagkakaroon nila ng show sa istasyon.

"Ewan ko kay Ma'am Malou (Choa-Fagar). Binibiro niya kami kanina na puwede niya kaming gawan ng solo ni Wally. Hindi na ako nakasagot e. Hindi ko alam kung nagbibiro siya o ano e. Pero sabi niya, totoo. Kakausapin raw niya si Mr. (Tony) Tuviera. Sana..."

"Pero siguro nagbibiro lang. Pero yun ang sabi niya na puwede na raw kaming magsolo.

Kung sakali mang hindi totoo ang nasambit ni Ms. Charo Santos sa kanila, masaya naman raw sina Wally at Jose sa exposure nila sa Eat Bulaga! at sa pagsama-sama nila sa mga pelikula ni Bossing Vic Sotto.

"Hangga't nandiyan si Bossing, sidekick pa rin kami... Kung may chance na dadating... siguro matagal pa yun. Pero hanggang nandiyan si Bossing, nandiyan lang kami. Hindi mo na kailangang lumayo."

Payag na raw sina Jose at Wally na maging forever silang sidekick sa mga pelikula at TV show.

"Okey lang, okey lang. Mas mahirap yung magsolo ka, tapos, waley (wala) di ba? Mahirap sumugal. Hindi pa ganon kalakas ang loob namin," pagtatapos ni Jose.

Wally and Jose on Working With Pokwang

Naging masaya ang batuhan ng mga jokes nina Wally at Jose kay Pokwang.

Base sa kuwentong nasagap namin, noong nagsisimula pa lang ang shooting ng movie, inulan nila ng tukso si Pokwang dahil nga first time nila itong nakasama sa isang project na nagkataong nagkaroon ng isyu kay Joey de Leon.

Noong taong 2008, gumawa ng kanta si Joey para sa Eat Bulaga! sa Los Angeles at tinawag niya ang former co-host ng Wowowee na "mukhang aswang."

Nasaktan nang husto si Pokwang sa pagpaparinig na ito ni Joey at maging ang kanyang anak ay naapektuhan sa patutsadang ito.

As fate would have it, nagkita si Joey at si Pokwang sa set ng pelikulang Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak, na co-produced ng Star Cinema at M-Zet Productions at duon ay nagkabati na sila.

"Hindi naman. Ang asaran lang naman namin ni Pokwang, yung mga biruan lang. Pero yung tungkol sa show, hindi namin napag-usapan," paglilinaw ni Jose.

"Ang madalas na asaran namin ni Pokwang, yung pagkatao lang namin, yung harutan. Yung mga kabastusan. Yung mga ganon lang."

Hindi raw nasaksihan nina Jose at Wally ang pagbabati nina Pokwang at Joey de Leon. Naka-alis na raw si Joey nang dumating sila sa set.

"Galing kami ng 'Juan for all.' Galing kami ng malayong lugar kaya late kaming nakarating," pahayag ni Jose.

"Hindi namin napag-usapan nina Pokwang yung pagkikita nila ni Joey. Ang napag-usapan lang namin nina Pokwang puro kabastusan at yung paano siya magluto. Yung pag-uumpisa niya, noong bata siya. Kung saan rin kami nag-umpisa. Kaya madaling nagkagaanan ang loob namin," dagdag pa niya.

Ang pagtungtong sa bakuran ng ABS-CBN 2 ay isa sa mga naisip rin na gustong gawin nina Jose at Wally.

"Oo naman. Hindi naman nawawala yun. Maliit lang naman ang mundo ng showbiz. Hindi naman habangbuhay nandoon ka lang sa istasyon mo. Parang Eat Bulaga!, galing dito, napunta lang sa kabila. Hindi ko naman naisip na hindi na kami makakatungtong dito. Darating talaga yung oras na makakatungtong din," pahayag ni Jose.

Paano nila nakabagayan agad si Pokwang samantalang ngayon lang sila nagkasama sa isang project?

"Bukod sa magaling na komedyante si Pokwang, yung istorya ng buhay niya na galing rin siya sa hirap. Magkakapareho kami. So, parang magkakaisang kulay lang kami," saad naman ni Wally.

"Hindi, yung kuwentuhan pa lang namin doon na kami nagkahulihan e. Kung ano meron si Pokwang sa comedy. Feeder rin si Pokwang e, mabilis pumik-ap e. Yung kuwentuhan pa lang namin, puro kalokohan na.

"Ibig sabihin puwede na naming i-apply sa set doon sa mga eksenang ginagalawan namin. Magaan ka-trabaho si Pokwang," pagsasalarawan ni Jose.

Ang kasamahan nila sa Eat Bulaga! na si Ruby Rodriguez ang madalas na kabatuhan nina Jose at Wally sa mga pelikula nila kay Vic Sotto. Pero ngayon ang kasama na nila ay si Pokwang. Meron bang pagkakaiba ang comedy nina Ruby at Pokwang?

"Halos pareho sila e. Kaya nga kapag may nagtatanong sa akin kung kumusta nang ka-trabaho si Pokwang. Parang si Ruby. Hindi kami nalayo. Ayun din siya e. Madaldal," isa-isang lahad ni Jose sa mga obserbasyon niya kay Pokwang.

"Hyper lage!" suportang pahayag naman ni Wally.

"Kahit alas kuwatro ng madaling araw na," dugtong niya.

"Kami pagod na. Kasi nga kami galing kami sa Bulaga, pagod na. 'Oh, ano? Kaya niyo pa?' Ikot siya nang ikot. Alam naming pinipigil rin niya ang antok niya. Oo, may show pa kami e, mamaya kaya nagri-serba lang.

"Asaran lang. At the same time, mabilis siya. Mabilis siya e. Alam niya kung ano ang bibitiwan niya, may sagot siya agad," bilib na kuwento pa rin ni Wally.

Maliban sa pagiging isang komedyante ang personalidad ni Pokwang, sa likod ng kamera, hinangaan din ni Jose ang komedyante.

"Mabait na ina," ang sabi niya.

"Maasikaso at magaling magluto," dugtong naman ni Wally.

"Masarap magluto ng laing. Pag nagluto ng laing, ang dami, sobra-sobra!" pagpapatunay pa ni Wally.

"Saka makikita mo kay Pokwang sa totoong buhay kung paano tumulong sa magulang, sa mga kapatid, pamangkin. Lalong-lalo na mapagmahal si Pokwang. Kaya maraming makukuhang blessings si Pokwang, mabait, e," isa-isa pa ring lahad ni Jose ng mga magagandang katangian ng komedyante.

Sa tanong kung magugustuhan ba nila si Pokwang, nagbiro si Jose na parang iniiwasan niyang sagutin ang tanong. Pero bigla siyang kumambyo na "puwede" raw.

"Puwede kang magkagusto sa Pokwang," sabi ni Jose.

"Puwede siyang maging kapartner sa buhay. Kasi wala siyang ginawa kundi ang magluto nang magluto raw," aniya.

Alam raw nina Jose at Wally na matagal nang walang love life si Pokwang.

"Ikinuwento niya sa aming dalawa na 12 years na siyang tigang!" pagbabalita ni Jose.

"Inoferan (offer) ko yun. Hinawakan ko pa lang na ganon sa balikat, kinikilabutan na yun. Talagang nanginginig na raw siya..

"Pero hindi, tinanong ko siya kung bakit ayaw niyang mag-asawa uli. Kasi ayaw raw niya, at ayaw rin raw ng anak niya. Nakita ko kay Pokwang naka-concentrate na siya talaga sa pamilya. Ayaw niyang kumuha uli ng panibagong pakikisamahan ng anak niya. Parang mahihirapan na siya," aniya.

Xian Lim Hopes Fans Will Accept Him as Kim Chiu's New Leading Man

Xian Lim was brimming with happiness when he faced reporters after the story conference for the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye Binondo Girl. “I’m very excited na makakasama ako sa isa sa pinakamalaking proyekto for this year. I feel super privileged,” he shared. Kapamilya primetime princess Kim Chiu will play the lead and her leading men will include Xian, Matteo Guidicelli, and Jolo Revilla.

Xian, who was one of Erich Gonzales’s leading men in the 2009 teleserye Katorse, thanked ABS-CBN for once again entrusting him with another primetime teleserye. Binondo Girl will also star Cherry Pie Picache, Glydel Mercador, newcomer Laureen Uy, and Ai-Ai De Las Alas. Taping for the teleserye is tentatively scheduled to begin after the Holy Week holidays.

The 21-year-old varsity basketball player-turned-actor talked about his preparations for his role in Binondo Girl. “The setting siyempre is Binondo and I will play a Filipino-Chinese character. So ngayon ine-expose ko talaga ‘yung sarili ko sa Chinese culture. I’m part Chinese din, everyone from my father’s side is Chinese. Magiging madali ‘yung part na ‘yun pero kasi kailangan ko makuha ‘yung talagang feel of the character. Konting aral na lang ng Chinese language, iba pang workshops.”

Though he spent most of growing years in the U.S., Xian can still speak fluent Tagalog. He came home to the Philippines to pursue his love for basketball, and he became part of the University of the East team. The six-foot tall Xian later became a ramp, print, and commercial model. His first acting project was in 2008’s Your Song Presents My Only Hope which incidentally also starred Kim. In Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Xian had a cameo role where he played the young John Estrada who was in a love triangle with Kim, as the young Lorna Tolentino, and Erich as the young Amy Austria-Ventura.

Xian was excited about the chance to work again with Kim, this time around as her leading man. “Nakakatuwa because my very first show was My Only Hope na nakasama ko si Kim. Noong nasa US pa kasi ako pinapanood ko na si Kim so nung nag-start na ‘yung My Only Hope I was very star struck nung ma-meet ko siya. I feel very privileged na ngayon e leading man na niya ako.”

Binondo Girl will be Kim’s first primetime teleserye without her longtime ka-love team Gerald Anderson. Xian said he hopes that fans of the Kimerald tandem will support Binondo Girl when it airs very soon. “I don’t think magiging awkward because Gerald and I are good friends. Naging magka-partner kami ni Kim sa Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin and I felt very comfortable. I hope ‘yung mga solid Kimerald fans leading men ni Kim.”

Bruno Mars Visits Bantay Bata

Filipino-American pop singer Bruno Mars is surely having a grand time here in the Philippines.

On Thursday, Mars performed to a sold-out crowd at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.

He was obviously surprised when his Filipina mom showed up at the event.

Mars’ mom Bernadette Hernandez said she is very proud of her son because he still has a heart of a Filipino and he never forgets to look back to where his family came from.

"We're a very close Filipino family, and that's what I want my kids to carry on to the next generation," his mom said.

She said she is delighted that her son was able to visit the country.

"I wish I could go to every concert 'cause he's been travelling the world and it's amazing, you know. He's seen a lot of places he'd never seen before, and I'm glad he got to see where I came from," she said.

Mars’ mom confessed she never thought her son would make it this big.

"Of course every mother feels their son is the best. I always thought that. But to see people and hear other people say that to me, I'm so proud," she said.

Meanwhile, Jamie Bayot, the elder sister of Mars, revealed that her brother continues to be a humble and grounded person despite his popularity.

"Everybody recognizes him, but he still has the same heart, you know. He's still funny," she said.

As a proof to this, Mars remained low key as he went out of his way to visit the children of Bantay Bata 163 on Friday.

The children performed a number of songs for the Grammy Award winner and he willingly joined them in singing.

Mars vows that this will definitely not be the last time that he will visit the country because of the warm welcome the Filipinos have showed him.

He also said that for his Filipino fans, he will strive to do better.
