The Filipino-American singer, songwriter, Bruno Mars will visit Manila to delight his fans with a concert on April 8 in Manila and a day earlier, April 7, in Cebu. Known as Peter Hernandez in real life, Bruno Mars is born to a Puerto Rican father and a Filipino mother. He is known as an international sensation for his songs “Just the Way You Are” and “Billionaire”, which are all chart-toppers. His debut album “Doo Woops and Hooligans,” debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart last October. ABS-CBN is the official media partner of the said event.

Jericho Rosales‘ “Bumuhos Man ang Ulan” is most requested on FM station Tambayan 101.9.

Number one sa Tambayan 101.9 ang theme song ng Pinoy adaptation ng ‘Green Rose’ na “Bumuhos Man Ang Ulan” na inawit ni Jericho Rosales. Madalas irequest ang nasabing theme song sa radio program ni Arnold Rey sa Tambayan 101.9.

PBB Teen Housemate Ann Li Wins a Shorty Award

The third Annual Shorty Awards announces the winners in NYC!

The Shorty Awards, hailed as the Oscars of Twitter by The New York Times, announced the winners in 36 categories last March 28 in New York City.

Of the winners, PBB Teen Clash of 2010's Ann Li took home the award for Fashion, emerging as the winner with the most votes out of 1,861 nominees, which include Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and even Glee guest star Charice.

Boy Abunda Not Taking Sides on the Box Office Queen Controversy

King of Talk Boy Abunda is not taking sides on the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation’s 2010 Box Office Queen controversy.

Ai-Ai delas Alas of “Ang Tanging Ina Mo: Last Na ‘To” and “The Buzz” co-host Toni Gonzaga of “My Amnesia Girl” are strong contenders under the 2010 Box Office Queen category. Both of whom are close friends of Abunda. Delas Alas is his talent, while Gonzaga is his co-host on "The Buzz."

“That decision is to be made by the organizers. They set the rules of engagement,” he told abs-cbnNEWS.com

Abunda said he cannot tell who’s more worthy to get the recognition because it is something that’s “not subjectively judged.”

“That’s quantifiable. That’s not something that’s qualitative. It’s not something that I think is subjectively judged. I think the queen or king to my knowledge are declared based on numerical figures. As to whether what formula they use, that will be decided upon by Guillermo Mendoza Awards,” he said.

Regardless who receives the recognition, Abunda believes that “it is not going to be a problem between Toni and Ai-Ai” because “they are very good friends and very close.”

Last week, Amy Samaniego-Tiongco, one of the directors of the Guillermo Mendoza foundation, clarified that there are no official box-office winners yet after reports surfaced that delas Alas grabbed the 2010 Box Office Queen title.

She said they have yet to sit down and deliberate on the matter. As of now, she said they are still in the process of completing their data.

Reports said Gonzaga's camp protested after it learned the supposed win of delas Alas. Gonzaga, a television host and actress, has already issued a denial.

Catch Me...I'm In Love Earns PhP52.95 Million for 5 Days

“Catch Me…I’m In Love” is a certified box-office hit for surpassing the P50 million mark in less than a week!

For the weekend opening period of March 23-27, 2011, the Star Cinema romantic comedy has raked in P52.95 million, the highest opening for a local movie this year so far.

Although this is not the highest opening record for Sarah Geronimo whose film “You Changed My Life” opened with a whopping P97.89-M in 2009, it’s a different story for Gerald Anderson.

This could be the highest-grossing movie of Gerald for his career because “Catch Me” is expected to surpass the P100 million mark by week 2 or 3. His last film, “‘Til My Heartaches End” opposite Kim Chiu opened in theaters last year with P33-M at the box-office.

Enrique Gil Thankful for His Projects

Enrique Gil has risen from virtual showbiz newbie to one of the young actors to watch out for, thanks to bagging the lead roles in two ABS-CBN dramas, Mula Sa Puso and Good Vibes. At the press conference of Good Vibes, which is set to air this April 3, Enrique expressed how happy he was about the blessings he is receiving. “It feels great. I feel very blessed. I thank the management, Direk Lauren Dyogi (Business Unit Head of Good Vibes), for all the projects. Work lang ako nang work ngayon, kahit wala na masyadong tulog. Kagagaling ko lang ng MSP taping. Okay pa naman.”

The 18-year-old Fil-Spanish from Cebu, who got his first role in the 2008 afternoon soap Pieta playing Krista Ranillo’s younger brother, dismissed rumors that he is now the new favorite of ABS-CBN which is why he is being given good projects. “Hindi ko rin po alam. Right timing lang po siguro. I think si Direk Lauren nagustuhan niya ako to play the role of Troy here in Good Vibes, and si Direk Wenn (Deramas) naman nagustuhan niya ako to play Michael in Mula sa Puso. Nag-audition po ako dun. Marami kaming nag-audition and pabalik-balik kami.”

Enrique experienced the sometimes harsh reality of showbiz when he was on the set of defunct teen variety show Shout Out and heard the harsh comments of some viewers who doubted if he deserved to be in the entertainment industry. “At first dinamdam ko talaga ‘yun. I said to myself, ‘Bulol ba talaga ako? Hindi ba talaga ako marunong mag-Tagalog?’ Siguro the fans just want to speak their minds. They can say whatever they want. Sana lang ngayon makita ng mga tao na hindi lang ako tulad ng ibang guys diyan na baguhan. I want to prove na kaya ko rin. I hope they get to see another side of me. Miriam Quiambao Will Host Binibining Pilipinas 2011

The beauty queen Miriam Quiambao will host the in coming Binibining Pilipinas this coming April 10, 2011. Miriam was 1st runner-up in 1999 Miss Universe Pageant which was held in Trinidad and Tobago. She will host along with Derek Ramsay, Precious Lara Quigaman Miss International 2005 and Charlene Gonzales 6th placer in Miss Universe 1994 which was held in Manila, Philippines.

Miriam has high hope for this years pageant because of so many beautiful and smart candidates. She said that hopefully they can select a winners out of these 40 ladies to represent the country and will bring home a crown. Miriam Quiambao also expressed herself about the four disqualified ladies before the final. She said that people have different values but they should fallow what the organization is looking for.

Miriam also expressed her opinion about the surprising number of disqualified contestants for this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant. As of press time, four candidates have been booted out reportedly because of their sexy and/or nude photos out on the Internet and in print. These four contestants are Ma. Paula Bianca Paz (who had a sexy pictorial for a calendar two years ago), Grendel Alvarado, Jen Olivar, and Roxanne Cabañero.

“I guess some people have different values but it’s Binibining Pilipinas Charities (BPC) that holds the rules (and) that calls the shots, so whatever they say goes,” Miriam said in an interview at the Run for Home 2011 of Globe Telecommunications last March 27.

However, the beauty-queen-turned-actress continued that in some cases, a contestant might still succeed in changing the BPC’s decision to return to the competition. She cited Venus Raj for example, who was previously dethroned after she was crowned Binibining Pilipinas-Universe last year, when questions about her nationality spurred. “Kung sinuman ‘yung na-disqualify maaari nating ipaglaban kagaya ni Venus. Ipinaglaban niya, nanalo siya and then she went on to represent the country and ended up fourth place (in Miss Universe 2010).Pwede nilang ipaglaban pero in the end nasa discretion pa rin ng BPC kasi nasa kanila ang franchise.”

In her opinion Miriam explained that it is important for BPC to check the contestant’s background because the management wants to ensure the eligibility of candidates. “Ako kasi I’m not in a position to judge, it really goes for different people. However for a representative, I guess BPC has to send someone with a good moral character,” she said.

Lawmakers Condemn Willie Revillame

Members of the Philippine Azkals were greeted with cheers during a thanksgiving party thrown for them recently by ABS-CBN in the network’s Restaurant 9501. Among those who personally congratulated the team, which advanced to the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 after a successful stint in Myanmar, were ABS-CBN Chairman Eugenio Lopez III, ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN Head of Manila Radio Division and Sports Peter Musngi, ABS-CBN Head of News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes, and ABS-CBN Network Ombudsman Justice Jose Vitug. Enrique Gil Talks About Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee

Enrique Gil talks about the intrgue that he is courting Erich Gonzales. "Nagugulat nga rin po ako. Wala naman pong something sa amin ni Erich. Siguro sa Shoutout po before, naging close kasi kami kasi nga Bisaya. Pero lahat naman kami doon close naman," ani Enrique.

Pero may communication pa ba sila ni Erich ngayon?

"Wala na. Dati meron. Pero now kasi, super busy na. Siguro magte-text kami pag hindi na masyadong busy."

Nanliligaw ba siya kay Erich?

"Hindi po," sagot niya.

Pero may plano siyang manligaw dito?

"Wala rin po sa ngayon, kasi sabi ko nga, sobrang busy rin po. Career po muna ang priority ko now. Yung how I will play the roles, kasi dalawa po yung shows ko. Kaya dapat pag-aralan ko yung roles ko mabuti. Kaya hindi ko po naiisip na manligaw ngayon."

Hindi ba siya ang sinasabi ni Erich na bagong inspirasyon nito?

"Hindi ko po alam. Hindi naman siguro."

Bakit may isyung lumabas na diumano'y nag-away raw sila ni Enchong over Erich?

"Hindi ko po alam," sagot ni Enrique. "Nung ASAP nga sa Cebu, nag-uusap pa kami ni Enchong. Hindi ko po alam kung bakit nagkaisyu ng ganun."

Magkaibigan ba sila ni Enchong?

"Opo, close po kami ni Enchong. Kasi sa Gigger Boys po kami nag-start."

May violent reaction ba siyang natanggap mula sa fans ng loveteam nina Erich at Enchong dahil sa isyu ng pagli-link sa kanila ng young actress?

"Wala naman po. Wala po akong na-receive kahit ano."

Enrique Gil on Handling Intrigues

Dahil nga sa magagandang opportunities at projects na nakukuha ngayon ni Enrique Gil, hindi tuloy maiwasang maintriga siya na diumano'y isa raw siya sa malalakas sa ABS-CBN ngayon. Ano ang comment niya rito?

"Hindi ko rin po alam kung bakit may ganung isyu," sabi niya. "Pero gusto ko lang pong linawin na lahat po ng projects ko ngayon, dumaan po muna ako sa auditions bago ko nakuha. Marami po kaming nag-audition at pabalik-balik po ako.

"Never po akong handpicked or pre-casted kaya hindi ko naman masasabi na naging malakas ako or whatever. Siguro po, right timing lang po. Nagustuhan ako ni Direk Lauren [Dyogi] sa Good Vibes at nagustuhan naman ako ni Direk Wenn [Deramas] sa Mula sa Puso."

May gusto lang din daw patunayan si Enrique, lalo na doon sa mga nagsasabing baguhan lang siya pero binibigyan siya agad ng malalaking projects. Gaya na lang nung natanggal siya bilang isa sa main hosts ng defunct yout-oriented variety program na Shoutout dahil sa negative comments sa kanya.

Dinamdam niya ba ito?

"At first, oo. Kasi I'm working hard naman," pag-amin niya. "So, ngayon, I just want to wark hard and to prove them wrong. Sana lang makita nila yung efforts ko ngayon. Sana they get to know me more."

May isa pa nga raw project sana si Enrique, ang Maria la del Barrio, bilang ka-love triangle ng mga bidang sina Enchong Dee at Erich Gonzales. Pero dahil nga sa conflict sa schedules ng taping ng iba niyang shows kaya kinailangan niyang bitawan ito.

Feeling blessed ang young actor na si Enrique Gil dahil bukod sa pagiging bahagi ng main cast ng early primetime soap na Mula sa Puso ay isa rin siya sa mga bida ng weekly youth-oriented drama na Good Vibes, na mapapanood na simula sa Linggo, April 3, pagkatapos ng ASAP Rocks sa ABS-CBN.

"It feels great. Super blessed. Thank you to ABS-CBN for the trust. Kaya work, work lang kahit pagod at walang tulog kasi kagagaling ko lang sa Mula sa Puso taping, e. Siyempre, hindi ko puwedeng palagpasin itong presscon ng Good Vibes," masayang sabi ni Enrique.

Na-interview si Enrique sa presscon ng Good Vibes na ginanap kahapon, March 29, sa The Lounge restobar sa Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Ano ang feeling niya na naunahan niya pang magkaroon ng lead role ang ibang young actors na matagal na sa industriya?

"I don't want to put down anybody," sabi niya. "I believe na it's my time and siguro darating din yung time for them. Super happy po ako sa magagandang opportunities na dumarating sa akin ngayon."

Ginagampanan ni Enrique sa Good Vibes ang role ni Troy Cabrera na half-brother ng isa pang bida na si Sam Concepcion, na gumaganap naman bilang Marc Pedroza.
Sa story ay may conflict sa pagitan nina Enrique at Sam being half-brothers. Pero kumusta naman sila off-cam?

"Off-cam, nagtatawanan lang kami lagi, kuwentuhan, ganun. Minsan nga sasabihin sa amin, 'Stop laughing na,' ganun. We're good friends naman. Malayung-malayo sa roles namin na may conflict sa isa't isa."

Gerald Anderson Reacts on Kim Chiu's Admirers

Gerald Anderson is happy that his projects without long time ka-love team Kim Chiu is being warmly received by the public. His weekly series Buhawi Jack with Jewel Mische enjoyed high ratings, while his movie with Sarah Geronimo raked in P15 million on its opening day alone last March 23. “Itong taon na ito is a chance for growth sa aming pareho ni Kim. Marami siyang project na siya lang and I’m praying na maging successful lahat ‘yun. Ako rin may mga projects na iba ang makakasama ko. Sana maging successful lahat,” Gerald told reporters during the thanksgiving press conference for Catch Me…I’m in Love.

When reports about the break up of the Kim-Gerald love team first surfaced, many of their fans had violent reactions, and there were those who even went as far as sending death threats to both Kim and Gerald. But the young actor clarified that those threats didn’t come from their loyal Kimerald supporters. “Hindi Kimeralds ‘yun. May mga nagbabanta na kapag hindi si Kim ang partner ko, ibo-boycott nila ‘yung projects. Pero God is good talaga kasi ‘yung mga solo projects ko naging successful naman like ‘yung Buhawi Jack. Thank you talaga sa mga Kimeralds. Gusto ko lang magtrabaho at maging successful lahat ng projects ko. Thank God wala nang mga threats. Magaan na ang buhay ko.”

Gerald invited Kim to the premiere night of the movie, but the young actress was busy taping for Your Song. But Kim sent Gerald her message of support. “Nasa taping ng Your Song si Kim. Pero nagsabi na siya ng, ‘Congratulations in advance.’ Sabi ko na I’m very thankful sa kanya, sa lahat ng support niya. Sinusuportahan ko pa rin din siya,” shared Gerald.

Kim has recently been linked to numerous male celebrities, most notably basketball player Simon Atkins who publicized his admiration for the chinita actress via Twitter. Kim has also been linked to Jason Abalos and Enchong Dee, and according to Gerald, it’s not shocking if Kim gets a lot of admirers given how beautiful she is. “Si Brad Pitt ba nagparamdam na sa kanya? Si George Clooney nagparamdam na ba? E ganun talaga. Magandang babae si Kim e. Hindi natin maiiwasan ‘yun.”

However, since they don’t have a serious commitment at the moment aside from friendship, Gerald explained that it’s no longer appropriate for him to always comment on whatever is going on in Kim’s love life. “Hindi ako bodyguard ni Kim. I’m just happy na she’s very beautiful and happy right now. Friends kami ngayon at ‘yun ang mahalaga.”

Regarding his own love life, Gerald chose not to comment any further about last year’s issue of him dating Bea Alonzo. The two will be part of the Star Magic tour in the US this April, but Gerald said he has no problem working with Bea because they’re on good terms. “Okay naman kami. Friends. Sarah Geronimo Speaks Up on Sarah Geronimo's Apology

Noong isang linggo ay pinag-usapan ang nangyaring pagbabati nina Sarah Geronimo at Cristine Reyes. Nagkuwento na si Sarah tungkol sa nasabing pagbabati at masayang-masaya raw ang popstar princess dahil naayos na ang gusot sa pagitan nila ni Cristine. Nagbigay na rin ng reaksyon ang kapatid ni Cristine na si Ara Mina sa nasabing pagbabati at niyaya pa nito sina Sarah at Cristine na mag-girl bonding kung mabibigyan daw ng chance.

Hindi nagbigay ng pahayag si Cristine last week dahil minabuti raw nitong huwag magbigay ng detalye tungkol sa nangyari. “Ayoko na, masyadong showbiz. Huwag na nating haluan ng pagka-showbiz yung pagbabati namin kaya mas minabuti kong huwag munang magpa-interview. Masaya ako, iwan na lang natin ‘yun doon. Maging masaya na lang kayo para sa amin,” makahulugang pahayag ni Cristine.

Samantala, May balak daw sila ni Rayver Cruz na panoorin ang pelikula nina Sarah at Gerald Anderson na Catch Me, I’m In Love kung magkakaroon sila ng panahon. “Napanood na siya ng pamangkin ko kasi favorite siya (Sarah) nun. Kapag nagkaroon ng time, medyo busy and hindi rin kami (Rayver) masyadong nagkikita ngayon,” dagdag pa ni Cristine.

Excited ngayon si Cristine para sa bago niyang leading man sa gagawin niyang teleserye. “Abangan ninyo ang aming bagong teleserye, drama series po ito. Ayaw ko munang i-reveal kung sino’ng makaka-partner ko. Abangan ninyo kung sino ang bago kong makaka-loveteam. Na-excite din akong maka-trabaho siya. Doon sa workshop, mas nakilala ko siya, mas naging kumportable na ako,” kuwento pa ng aktres.
