After starring in supporting roles in teleseryes such as Kristine and Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Alyna, rising star JM De Guzman proves his dramatic prowess in an unforgettable episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya directed by Lino Cayetano. He plays the role of Jay, a fresh grad who’s determined to give his family a better life. In the beginning, he lands a profitable job in Macau which paves the way for him to gain his grandfather’s respect. But he’s eventually forced to resign from his job and come home a failure in his lolo’s eyes.

Jay immediately jumps at the chance to work abroad again as an old acquaintance offers him a teaching job in Beijing. But when he reaches Bangkok to meet his employer, he gets the shock of his life when he learns that he’s about to be used as a drug mule by the West African Drug Syndicate (WADS). He is forced to swallow 61 large capsules containing drugs, which he is supposed to transport to China. Will Jay survive this? And is it really worth to risk one’s life for the sake of financial security?

Shot in the most frequented tourist spots in Bangkok, JM brings life to this story that deals with familial love and personal values. Also in the cast are Robert Arevalo, Gloria Diaz, Maliksi Morales, and Nikki Valencia.

MYX Pays Tribute to Regine Velasquez

Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid turned emotional during the MYX Music Awards 2011 on Tuesday night after the No. 1 music channel named her this year's MYX Magna awardee.

"Taos puso po akong nagpapasalamat sa MYX para po sa napakalaking karangalan na ito," she said.

MYX recognized her contributions to the local music industry. Singers from Channels 2 and 7 paid tribute to Velasquez by performing her hit songs.

Yeng Constantino sang "Urong Sulong" while Asia's romantic balladeer Christian Bautista made his rendition of "Dadalhin."

Francheska Farr and Julie Ann San Jose sang "Follow The Sun," while RNB Princess Kyla sang "You Made Me Stronger."

Former Kapamilya stars Mark Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go sang "You Are My Song" and "Narito Ako," respectively.

The Asia’s Songbird's better half, singer-composer Ogie Alcasid, meantime, serenaded her “queen” with "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw."

Velasquez-Alcasid burst into tears as she recalled her humble beginnings 25 years ago.

"Alam ninyo po noong nag-uumpisa po akong kumanta ginawa ko lang naman po ‘yong kumanta para po matulungan ko ‘yong family ko dahil mahirap lang po kami," she said.

"'Yon po talaga ‘yong dahilan kung bakit po ako kumanta. Alam ko po na pinahiram sa akin ni Lord 'yong voice na ito para matulungan ko ‘yong family ko at the same time para po mai-share sa inyong lahat," she added.

Velasquez-Alcasid said: "Nagpapasalamat po ako sa MYX dahil hindi ko akalain na importante pala ‘yong ginagawa ko. Maraming salamat kasi pinaramdam ninyo sa akin na importante ako sa industriya na ito. Maraming salamat."

The songstress also commended the young Filipino musicians for continuously making their own compositions.

“Para naman sa lahat ng mga bata nating musiko na nandidito ngayong gabi, mabuhay kayong lahat at patuloy kayong lumikha ng mga awitin at musikang tanging tayong mga Filipino lamang ang nakakagawa at talagang mamahalin ng buong bansa," she said.

Eula Valdez and Ariel Rivera Thrilled for the Mula Sa Puso Remake

Returning Kapamilya stars Ariel Rivera and Eula Valdez are both excited in their upcoming television series in ABS-CBN.

After doing a remake of “Mara Clara,” which became one of today’s top raters in the primetime block, ABS-CBN has decided to relive “Mula sa Puso,” another phenomenal hit which had a mark on viewers’ lives during the 1990s.

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Wednesday, Rivera and Valdez could not help but be ecstatic for the opportunity given to them to be part of this remake.

Valdez said she is looking forward to portraying the role of Selena, the antagonist in the series, because for the longest time, she has been playing characters of a nice person.

“Excited na ako actually dito sa role na ‘to. At saka nakakasawa naman ‘yong laging pinaiiyak na laging inaapi. Ma-relax naman ako ngayon na hindi ako ang luluha,” she said.

Rivera, on the other hand, said that it would be nice to do a role in the same television series where he first appeared.

“As soon as I found out about the project, tinext ko agad si Wenn. After all these years, my first teleserye really was 'Mula sa Puso'. And ngayon, coming back again to ABS, ito na naman na father role naman ako, so excited ako,” he said.

Rivera will give life to the character previously played by Juan Rodrigo.

Aside from Rivera and Valdez, actress Dawn Zulueta also expressed her excitement and asked the viewers to see what the series has to offer.

“Marami pa kayong ma-e-expect dito na sumasabog na eksena at mga nakakaantig na eksena,” she said.

“Mula sa Puso” will be directed by Wenn Deramas. He was also the one who directed the series’ original version.

Ariel Rivera Returns as Kapamilya Via Mula Sa Puso Remake

Abner Mercado's Krusada Against Palawan Mining

The island of Palawan is considered as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the Philippines. It boasts of pristine beaches and rich and thick forests. Yet it is also home to large mining operations that threaten to destroy its natural resources.

This Thursday (Mar 17) in “Krusada,” ABS-CBN Correspondent Abner Mercado will expose mining in Palawan through the eyes of farmers in Narra, whose farmlands have been severely damaged and poisoned by mining.

Sky Cable Answers TV5's Complaint

SkyCable answers TV5′s complaint regarding the non-inclusion of Aksyon TV in its channel line-up.

Earlier today, TV5 filed a letter of complaint with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) concerning SkyCable’s “continued refusal to include UHF Channel 41 (Aksyon TV) in its channel line-up.”

In a message sent by ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Bong Osorio, here is SkyCable’s official statement regarding the complaint:

SkyCable’s capacity at the moment is full, hence we are not able to comply with the Aksyon TV accomodation. SkyCable is studying how to increase its channel capacity which may take some time due to dependencies on the technical end. SkyCable is looking at workable solutions to address the concerns of Aksyon TV.
