Jodi Sta. Maria Keeps Mum on Marital Status

Actress Jodi Sta. Maria has kept silent on the state of her marriage with Panfilo “Pampi” Lacson Jr.

A Star Magic statement on Tuesday said it is respecting Sta. Maria’s decision not to speak about the matter.

"We respect Jodi's decision not to comment on her marital issues. We hope that the public understand as Jodi and Pampi care for the welfare of their son. Thank you," the statement reads.

Star Magic is the management arm of ABS-CBN that handles Sta. Maria’s career.

On Sunday, Lacson broke his silence about the state of their marriage on TV5’s entertainment show “Paparazzi.”

Lacson confirmed in the interview that his marital relationship with Sta. Maria has been on the rocks. He revealed that they have been estranged for 7 months now.

He, however, stressed that he never laid a hand on his wife. He also said that they are trying their best as a couple to iron things out for the sake of their son, Thirdy.

Lacson and Sta. Maria tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2005.

Late last year, reports surfaced claiming the 2 have already separated. The couple, however, did not comment on the issue.

ABS-CBN Bags 10 NSSU Student's Choice Awards

ABS-CBN, the Philippines' largest media conglomerate, once again proved its worth after bagging a total of 10 recognitions in the recent Northwest Samar State University (NSSU)'s Student's Choice Awards.

"Matanglawin", an informative show aired on weekends, was named the Best Educational Program while its host Kim Atienza bagged the Best Educational Program Host award.

"ASAP", dubbed as Sunday's concert authority, got the Best Variety Show award. "Mr. Pure Energy" Gary Valenciano, meanwhile, a host of "ASAP", was hailed as the Best Variety Show host.

The talent program “Showtime” won the Best Pre-Noon Time Game Show and its male host Vhong Navarro was named the Best Pre-Noon Time Game Variety Show Host.

Multi-awarded celebrity talk show “The Buzz” clinched the Best Showbiz-Oriented Show award while TV host-manager Boy Abunda won the Best Showbiz-Oriented Host award.

Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu, once a popular love team, were hailed as Best Actor and Best Actress in Primetime Teleserye, respectively.

Though they failed to personally thank the students who voted for them, Atienza, Abunda, Navarro and Valenciano expressed their gratitude through a taped video message.

Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin Gets High Rating on Premiere Episode

The pilot episode of "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin", the much talked about ABS-CBN TV series of Coco Martin, Maja Salvador and Andi Eigenmann, drew impressive high TV ratings and rave reviews from viewers last Monday.

The soap, which is Martin’s first lead role project on TV, garnered a 37.8% audience share, according to the March 7 data released by Kantar Media-TNS survey.

It also showed that the drama, romance and action series toppled GMA 7’s “I Heart U Pare,” which grabbed a 19.4% audience share.

“Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin”, directed by Ruel Bayani, tackles two worlds, that of soldiers and that of rebels, and shows how these two worlds intertwine. The story revolves around love, family and conviction to one's moral principles.

The TV series also established stars Ronaldo Valdez, Amy Austria-Ventura and Lorna Tolentino.

'Fantastic'

Viewers turned to social networking sites to applaud "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin" and its cast and crew.

"Fantastic talaga ang Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin!!!!! I love you Coco," i_am_madeline4U said on Twitter.

Carlos Diego Loyzaga Joins Kapamilya Network Via Mara Clara

Carlos Diego Loyzaga, the son of Cesar Montano and Teresa Loyzaga, inked a three-year contract with ABS-CBN yesterday night, March 8, and his first project will be Mara Clara. The 15-year-old lad said that he is excited already to team up with Julia Montes, who plays Clara in the top-rating teleserye. Asked what Julia’s reaction was when they met, Diego joked, “She was happy that I’m taller.” Julia’s current onscreen partner, John Manalo (who plays Eris) is shorter than Julia. He continued that his conversation with Julia was short and pleasant.

He said that he is doing the necessary preparations for Mara Clara by taking acting workshops. He also added going into showbiz was his personal choice. “I enjoy acting po. At school, we have theater po, I really enjoy being part of it. That’s one of the reasons, besides my parents po, that I want to try if I am capable of being what they have achieved.”

Diego said that his contract with ABS-CBN is “organized” since he still goes to school. “They’ll be scheduling times when I can work and not work because of my school, so it’s very timed and organized po,” he said. He went on to say that the condition that his parents gave him in joining showbiz is that he will still prioritize his education.

Asked how it feels to be a new addition to the Kapamilya network, Diego said, “Terrific po, it feels really good po. I feel very welcome po, (people are) so nice and kind to me po and I’m very happy here po.”

Diego also revealed how he was able to convince his father to allow him to join showbiz. “I promises to him po if I join showbiz, school comes first. That was my promise to him and he’s really focused on me having good education that’s why I promised him if I join showbiz, school comes first.”

He shared that his mom and his dad oftentimes remind him that he should practice strict discipline now that he is part of showbiz. Diego also added that his mom Teresa often tells him that having a girlfriend should be set aside so that he can focus on his schooling and work.

Gerald Anderson Happy to be Paired With Sarah Geronimo

Itinuturing ni Gerald Anderson na isang malaking biyaya na kanyang natanggap ang makagawa ng pelikula kasama si Sarah Geronimo.

"Siyempre, sobra akong masaya, overwhelmed," sabi ni Gerald sa media junket na inihanda ng Star Magic para sa kanyang ika-22 na kaarawan na ginanap kahapon, Marso 7, sa 9501 restaurant ng ABS-CBN sa ELJ Bldg.

Dahil dito, ayon kay Gerald, sinisiguro niyang maging maganda ang kanyang pagganap bilang bagong movie partner ni Sarah sa pelikulang Catch Me, I'm In Love.

"Talagang lahat ibinibigay ko rito sa movie kasi sayang, e. Sayang ang pagkakataong ibinigay ng Star Cinema sa akin.

"Sa set, sobra kaming nag-e-enjoy. Tulad nga po ng sinabi ko kanina, sobra akong blessed and sobra akong thankful para doon," sabi ni Gerald.

WORKING WITH SARAH. Katulad ng ibang mga first time na magkakasama sa isang proyekto, inamin ni Gerald na may kaunting ilangan sa kanila ni Sarah noong mga unang taping days nila. Pero sabi ni Gerald, hindi naman daw ito nagtagal.

"Siyempre, sa simula, may ilang, nandoon 'yong ilangan factor. Pero nandoon naman talaga 'yon dahil ngayon lang po talaga kami nagkasama ever bukod doon sa ASAP. Kahit Your Song or Maalaala Mo Kaya, wala.

"Tapos binigyan kami ni Sarah ng ganitong movie ng Star Cinema na mainstream. Noong una may ilangan, but after mga ilang shooting days, nagwo-work out na siya. Nagtatawanan na kami sa set bago mag-take."

Dagdag pa ni Gerald, "Ako nga, mas nahihiya ako kasi sobrang surreal, na siya 'yong ka-partner ko ngayon, siya 'yong leading lady ko. Siyempre, bilang leading man, ako po 'yong gumagawa ng paraan para mas kumportable siya. Ayun, sobrang relax kami ngayon sa set, stress-free."

Bukod sa pagiging malapit nilang dalawa, may nadiskubre rin daw siyang ilang katangian ni Sarah.

"Sobra siyang mabait, sweet siya, palabiro din. Pero siyempre, noong una, tahimik siya. Pero after a while, nag-loosen up, nagtatawanan kami, nag-e-enjoy kami sa set.

"Kahit maraming nangyayari sa mga balita, sa mga pinagdadaanan niya ngayon, pagdating sa set, parang wala, stress-free kami. 'Yon ang maganda sa kanya," saad ng young actor.

Sa tingin ba ni Gerald ay may posibilidad na maging kasunod na onscreen partner niya si Sarah?

"Siyempre, ang pine-pray ko, gusto kong maging successful 'yong movie namin at masundan pa ng ibang movies. Siyempre, trabaho pa rin po 'yon. I love working with Sarah, sobrang magaan. I'd love to work with her again in the future," sagot niya.

COMPARISONS. Sa pakikipagtambal ni Gerald kay Sarah, hindi maiwasan na ikumpara siya sa dating movie partner ng Popstar Princess, ang three-time Box Office King na si John Lloyd Cruz. Nagkasama ang dalawa sa dalawang hit romantic-comedy movies ng Star Cinema, ang A Very Special Love at ang sequel nitong You Changed My Life.

Ano naman ang masasabi ni Gerald tungkol dito?

"Si John Lloyd lang naman ang huling partner niya, so hindi naman masyado!" pabirong sagot ni Gerald.

Samantala, hindi itinanggi ni Gerald na tulad niya, magkakaroon din ng paghahalintulad sa pagitan ng dati niyang onscreen partner na si Kim Chiu at si Sarah.

"Hindi pa nga nag-i-start ang movie, may comparison na," sabi ni Gerald. "Siyempre, as much as I want, gusto ko talagang maging successful 'yong movie. Gusto naming lahat 'yon. Gano'n talaga, e, nasa showbiz tayo.

"Kumbaga, laging may comparison. Who's the better actress, who's the better actor; sinong mas guwapo, sino ang mas maganda. Nakikita ko nga sa Internet may mga gano'ng polls, e. So, 'yong comparison, nandoon na, hindi na po maiiwasan."

Azkals Gets PhP500,000 from ABS-CBN for TV Coverage

Nakatanggap ang Azkals ng monetary share sa TV coverage ng ABS-CBN para sa qualifying match nila laban sa Mongolia noong February 9 sa Bacolod City.

Ayon sa report ng Manila Bulletin kahapon, March 7, P500,000 ang kabuuang halaga na natanggap ng team.

Ang nasabing nahalaga ay bahagi ng deal sa pagitan ng Philippine Football Federation (PFF) at ng ABS-CBN. Ito ay bayad para sa broadcast rights na ibinigay sa Studio 23 ng Kapamilya network.

Ayon sa agreement ay makakatanggap ang Azkals ng fixed amount na P500,000 sa mga laro nila sa AFC Challenge Cup laban sa international teams saan man dito sa Pilipinas. Ngunit kung ang laban ay sa labas ng bansa gaganapin, kalahati lamang ng P500,000 ang makukuha ng team.

Ito ang mangyayari sa nalalapit na laro ng Azkals sa March 15 para sa second leg ng game nila kontra Mongolia na gaganapin sa Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

Ang perang makukuha mula sa TV coverage ay diretsong pupunta sa mga miyembro ng Azkals at sa coaching staff nito, hindi tulad ng P80 million at P21 million na 10-year pledge ng Smart at Air21 na gagamitin ng PFF sa iba nitong mga programa.

Umalis ng bansa ang Azkals papuntang Japan kahapon, March 7, para sa huling training nila.

Kim Chiu Admits Gerald Anderson as Her First Love

Sa panayam ni Gerald Anderson sa The Buzz noong Linggo, March 6, sinabi niyang ang ka-loveteam niyang si Kim Chiu ang "first love" niya.

Kaya naman nang matiyempuhan si Kim sa opening ng photo exhibit ni Mark Nicdao, ang Vantage, sa Greenbelt 5 kinagabihan, ay kinuha ang reaksiyon niya sa sinabi ni Gerald.

"Totoo ba 'yan? Di ko alam 'yan, ngayon ko lang 'yan narinig. Teka, naloka ako!" tila hindi makapaniwalang sabi ni Kim.

Pero aniya, "Siyempre, thank you na sinabi niya yun. Siyempre nakakatuwa, nakaka-flatter, kasi isipin mo na ako pala ang first love niya."

Si Gerald din ba ang maikukunsidera niyang "first love"?

"Sa part ko, oo, siya rin," sagot ni Kim.

Naniniwala ba siya sa kasabihang "first love never dies"?

"Depende sa tao, sa panahon, sa mga mangyayari. Kasi hindi natin alam ang mangyayari in the future, pero naniniwala ako sa true love."

Kumusta naman ang samahan nila ni Gerald ngayon?

"Okay naman kami. Mayroon pa rin kaming communication, nag-uusap pa rin kami.

"Masaya ako for Gerald kasi ang daming magagandang nangyayari sa kanya ngayon. Nakaka-proud na ka-loveteam ko siya dati," sabi ni Kim.

Ano ang reaksiyon ni Kim dito?

"To be honest, hindi ko alam ang sasabihin ko about that, kung ano ang tamang words para masabi ko ang gusto kong sabihin, but salamat. Salamat kasi naghahanap siya ng way para magkita kami at nakaka-flatter," sabi ng young actress.

Sa effort na ginagawa ni Simon, may pag-asa kaya ito kung sakaling manligaw sa kanya?

"Hindi ko alam, tingnan natin. Okay naman siya, may sense of humor, may sense kausap," nakangiti niyang sagot.

Bagamat may mga nagpapakita ng interes sa kanya, sinabi ni Kim na hindi pa siya handang pumasok ngayon sa bagong pakikipagrelasyon pagkatapos ng nangyari sa kanila ni Gerald.

Gerald Anderson Celebrates Birthday With Cancer Stricken Children

For four years now, Gerald Anderson has been celebrating his birthday not with lavish gatherings as what other celebrities do. Instead, the Kapamilya actor has been spending his special day with the children of Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc.

"Nameet ko sila sa PBB (Pinoy Big Brother). Dun sobra akong na-touch...ang babata lang nila they're willing to survive. Nakaka-touch talaga. It's my privilege more than theirs to do things like these," said Gerald after his birthday press conference on Monday, March 7.

After the press conference, Gerald went straight to Chowking Quezon Avenue to celebrate his 22nd birthday with the Cancer Warrior Foundation kids. James Auste, head of the organization, expressed his gratitude for Gerald's unending support.

"Thank you (Gerald) for the unwavering support to the fight to save kids with cancer in the Philippines kasi since nanalo siya sa PBB and nameet niya yung ibang patients dito, tuloy-tuloy na yung suporta niya sa Cancer Warriors Foundation," James told Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

James is also impressed with Gerald's dedication and his "word of honor."

"Nung umpisa kasi bata-bata pa siya. Ngayon mature na nga and committed talaga kasi simula ng nandun siya sa loob, sabi niya 'Paglabas ko tutulungan naming kayo,' o tutulungan niya si Michael, yung na-meet niya dun sa loob ng bahay. Siya yung kapartner ni Gerald sa loob. Simula noon, tuloy-tuloy talaga kaya nakita mo yung commitment, nakita mo yung isang salita, nakita mo yung tunay na pagkatao ni Gerald Anderson. Dati nga sinasama pa niya yung nanay at tatay niya to the party iniintroduce sa mga [bata], ang galing-galing talaga. Sana lahat ng artista ganyan."

The cancer survivor, Michael Galvez, who initially inspired Gerald to help the foundation, also expressed his sincere happiness and gratitude for the actor's genuine care.

"Masaya po kasi lagi niya (Gerald) kami tinutulungan. Lalo na yung Cancer Warrior Foundation, hindi niya nakakalimutan. Mabait (siya) kasi nung nasa loob kami parehas, lagi niya ako inaalagaan, hanggang ngayon. Happy birthday, sana bigyan ka pa ni Lord ng malakas na pangangatawan. Sana gumanda pa yung success ng buhay mo," Michael also told Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

Kimerald fans who were present during Gerald's birthday celebration with the Cancer Warrior kids also shared their birthday message to Gerald.

"We wish you good health, successful career and long and lasting love," they said in a message to the Kapamilya actor.

Gerald's movie "Catch me I'm in Love" opposite Sarah Geronimo will be in theaters March 23. "Sana maging successful yung movie naming ni Sarah, sana marami pang projects, sana tuloy-tuloy ang good health sa pamilya ko," he wished.

Star Cinema Releases Tum: My Pledge of Love

"Tum” is Robin and Mariel’s first movie together. It was shot entirely in India during their honeymoon.

The film also stars Datu Khomeini Bansuan, Nash R. Raza, Ejay Falcon and Robin’s daughter, Queenie Padilla.

Robin is very proud with what they’ve accomplished during filming “Tum.” He wants to include all the scenes that they’ve filmed, if possible, because it shows the rich culture of India.

“Maipagmamalaki namin na lahat po ‘yan India, lahat po ng extra namin nasa India, ang mga kasama po namin d’yan mga Indian actors at ang mga kalaban po natin d’yan mga Indian stunt man,” he said.

Bea Alonzo Signs Four-Picture Deal With Star Cinema

After Bea Alonzo signed a four-picture deal with Star Cinema last March 7, she happily told ABS-CBN reporters that she will be doing Maalaala Mo Kaya The Movie with Angel Locsin and Zanjoe Marudo. She added that they’re scheduled to start shooting right after her movie with Vic Sotto. “It’s such a big project for MMK’s 20th anniversary this year, kaya nung narinig ko talagang masaya ako. Ang dami-daming blessings na natanggap ko ngayon. Every morning, when I wake up, ang sarap ng feeling kasi madaming positive energy, lahat ng nakapaligid sa ’yo masasayang tao, kaya sobrang saya ko ngayon,” she began.

Although they’re considered rivals in the biz, Bea claimed that it’s a privilege to work with an acclaimed actress such as Angel. “Kung magkakaroon man ng competition, healthy competition siguro para ma-push namin yung isa’t isa beyond our limits. Hindi ako magpapakaimpokrita at sabihing wala talaga lalo na dahil magka-batch kami. But it’s a healthy competition and I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to her. Siyempre ang gusto ko yung pareho kaming may maipapakitang bago. I think she’s a good actress. Siyempre na-nominate nga siya sa International Emmy Awards ‘di ba? Who wouldn’t want to work with someone like her?”

Bea further shared that it’s also good that she gets to work with her fellow young actresses because it would give them a chance to bond and learn from each other. “Siyempre first time ko makaka-work si Angel so masaya ako kasi hindi naman palagi na nakakatrabaho ko yung mga ka-genre ko, alam mo yun? Pareho kami halos na ginagawang projects. The last time na may nakatrabaho ako na halos kasing edad ko, si Anne Curtis for Maging Sino Ka Man. So itong movie namin ni Angel, ibang timpla naman. Sayang kasi nandun kami sa book launch ni Mark Nicdao (Vantage) last Sunday. Pero pagkaalis ko pala, sakto sinasabi sa akin ng kasama ko na papasok na si Angel. Aside from Maalaala Mo Kaya The movie, Bea is also thrilled with her reunion movie with perennial leading man John Lloyd Cruz sometime in 2012. “It’s going to be really special kasi 11 years na yung love team namin next year and it’s directed by Olivia Lamasan. Hindi ko pa nakakatrabaho si Inang (as director Olive is fondly called by colleagues) sa pelikula. When I started in the teleserye Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, siya yung nagdi-direk nun. Pero sa movie ngayon pa lang so isang malaking privilege na makatrabaho siya.”

Bea explained that it would take a while before she and John Lloyd would start shooting the film since they’re both busy with their respective projects at the moment. But she was quick to say that she’s really happy with John Lloyd’s portrayal in the top-rating series, Imortal. “I think alam na rin niya na may pelikula kami together pero ‘di pa namin napag-uusapan. Sa totoo lang nakaka-miss katrabaho si Lloydy. Madaming instances na bigla ko siya maaalala. Kasi meron isang eksena, ‘Ay si Lloydy…’ Tapos nakikita ko siya sa TV. I’m really proud of him kasi ang layo-layo na ng narating niya. Humble pa rin siya at kung nagbago man, for the better.”

Enchong Dee Speaks Up on Rumored Rivalry With Sam Milby

Some people couldn’t help but notice that Enchong Dee has been very visible on TV while Sam Milby has yet to do another teleserye. During the press con at the Jollibee Great Float Fair last March 3, Enchong refuted rumors that Sam feels insecure about him because of the nonstop projects coming his way. “Si Sam Milby? Enchong claimed that there’s no tension between him and Sam, especially since they see each other on ASAP on a regular basis. “We’re good friends kasi yung dressing room namin sa ASAP, nandito ako sa dulo, siya yung nasa opposite, so nakikita ko sa siya palagi every Sunday.” The young actor was also quick to dismiss other people’s observations that he has become more in demand than Sam these days. “Wala. Tsaka sabi ko nga dahil may sari-sarili kaming project dito sa ABS-CBN, mahirap kapag tumitingin ka pa sa ibang tao, kasi minsan dun pumapasok yung insecurity, yung pagkukulang mo sa sarili. Tignan mo na lang kung gaano ka ka-blessed.”

As for his rising career, Enchong admitted that he feels privileged that he was given the opportunity to be paired with perennial leading lady Erich Gonzales in the upcoming Mexicanovela remake, Maria la del Barrio. “Sa totoo lang grabe ngayon yung pressure kasi sunod-sunod ang projects including yung Maria la del Barrio. Yung binigay sa amin na script napakabigat kasi franchise siya. Hinahanap ko nga siya sa internet kasi honestly, nung pinapalabas siya sa Pilipinas hindi ako masyado nanonood ng TV. Tapos nung sinearch ko nga, ang sabi if not the best, one of the best telenovelas siya. So I’m very happy.”

AJ Perez Proud of Jessy Mendiola's Growth as an Actress

As the teleserye Sabel ends this week, AJ Perez said he will miss everyone from the show, most especially his leading lady Jessy Mendiola. “Mami-miss ko siya kasi every scene namin sa Sabel was memorable. Masasabi ko na dito ako natuto, nahasa sa pag-arte. Malaking bahagi nun si Jessy at si Joseph (Marco). Itong Sabel parang malaking workshop para sa aming tatlo. I’ll miss the both of them. I’m proud to have worked with them.”

AJ was asked if within the months of taping Sabel he developed special feelings for Jessy, he admitted getting physically attracted to her whom he had know prior to working together in the teleserye. “Siyempre every time I see Jessy, parang…‘Wow! Ang ganda ni Jessy. It’s hard not to like Jessy. She’s a good friend of mine. She’s very beautiful, matalino, napakagaling umarte. It’s an honor to be one of her leading men.”

But when it comes to the possibility of actually falling in love and courting Jessy, AJ explained that he would rather let time decide. “I’m not closing my doors. I just hope if ever liligawan ko si Jessy, sana tanggapin niya ako. Pero nakikita ko ngayon she’s more focused sa work, and ako rin. May studies pa ako. We have priorities. Love life siguro can wait.”

For now AJ said that he is very much proud to see Jessy having been elevated to drama princess status because of the success of Sabel. “Jessy is very professional. Alam niya kung kailangan magtatrabaho, kung anong eksena ang kailangan ng heavy emotions and drama. Kapag malapit na mag-take nagiiba na ‘yung personality niya because she wants to give all of her dun sa eksena. Matagal ko na siyang kilala pero now that because of Sabel I’m seeing her as the next leading lady, the next big thing. Sobrang ang laki ng improvement niya. I’m proud as a friend.”

The actor was very thankful for Sabel for having had the chance to finally play a leading man role. As much as he wanted to still work with Jessy on his next project after Sabel, AJ said he knows he also needs to work with other stars so he can widen his range as an actor. “As artists we have to face the fact that we have to follow our own career paths and we have to grow rin. So we have to work with different actors, different directors para ma-hone ‘yung craft namin as an artista.”

Though because of his youthful and sweet face he usually play “good boy” roles, AJ shared that he is also open to trying out being bad on screen. “As much as possible gusto ko iba ibang roles ang ginagawa ko. Ayokong ma-typecast. Ayoko naman sa next project ko, pari na naman ang role ko, yung sobrang bait na totoy ang dating. I want to experiment, explore.”

Mara's Death Upsets Girl in Viral Video

Being upset over the "death" of a widely followed soap opera character is an understatement for one young girl.

After watching last week's episode of ABS-CBN's hit show "Mara Clara," wherein protagonist "Mara," played by Kathryn Bernardo, apparently died after an explosion, the devastated young televiewer could not hide her emotions in an online video again immortalized on YouTube.

YouTube user happyyna19 uploaded a video of the girl crying her heart out upon learning in a scene from the drama that "Mara" had succumbed to severe burns caused by the blast in her hostage taker's den. It was a gripping week for the escalating drama with the kidnapping of the main characters that ended in the supposed "tragedy."

"She cried coz she thought that mara died :| HAHAHAHA superrr nakakatawa!!! LOL. I explained to my sister na hindi namatay si mara. If you can hear me saying sa huli na "Hindi namatay si mara, Bida un eh." =)," happyyna19 said in her Youtube profile.
