KC Concepcion on Sharon Cuneta's Condition

Pagkatapos ng taping ni KC Concepcion ngayong hapon for Star Circle Quest For The Next Kiddie Superstars ay diretso na siya sa kanyang flight tonight papuntang Uganda, Africa. Pupunta si KC doon to fulfill her mission as ambassador against hunger ng United Nations World Food Program. “It’s my first time and naghintay ako ng three years bago mangyari.

Nagbigay ng update si KC about the condition of her mom. “Tinawagan ako ni Dad, and he said ‘we tested everything, all the tests, all clear.’ Sabi ng doctor exhaustion tapos tensed na tensed siya because every year, siyempre forty-five na siya, she wants na maganda yung show. ‘Di nakatulong yung pagbagsak niya kasi siyempre kapag bumagsak ang tao, days after pa mararamdaman yung effect. So everyone’s saying it’s okay na pero for me bilang panganay na anak, I hope in the next few days obserbahan pa rin nila,” emosyonal na kuwento ni KC.

Vina Morales on Wansapanataym's Ulo

This Saturday, January 15, Vina Morales returns to acting in Wansapanataym’s “Ulo” episode.

Binibining Pilipinas Transfers to ABS-CBN

"On behalf of ABS-CBN Corporation, we would like to welcome back, I think after 13 years, Cory?" baling ni Ms. Santos-Concio sa nasa presidential table din at kasama sa signatories sa mga kontrata na si Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Channel Head. "...Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incoporated to ABS-CBN.

"We're all very excited here, alam n'yo naman ang mga Pilipino, we have beauty and we are pageant-crazy people.

"And Binibining Pilipinas Charities has been the home to a lot of women who have become role models for our Filipinas. Just like Venus Raj here, who is a picture of courage and humility.

"And we're looking forward to many years of working together and we hope that this will be a great partnership. Thank you very much," pahayag pa ni Ma'am Charo, na isa ring dating beauty queen (Miss Calapan at Baron Travel Girl 1976) bago naging artista.

Aniya, "I still believe that what you say is true. We have been [the] most prestigious contest in the land, we are now in partnership, as of today, with the most prestigious, the best channel station in the land."

"We are with a TV station which not only reaches the Filipino people in [the] Philippines, but the Filipinos all over the world," sabi niya.

"We are grateful and we had a very good relation with them. But we'd like to point that, yes, we want those changes and that's why we are here," sabi ni Ms. Stella.

Venus Raj, Major Major Kapamilya Na!

"As I've said, hindi pa naming puwedeng sabihin.

I am very much willing to do that."

Piolo Pascual Will Renew Contract With ABS-CBN

Piolo Pascual finally put an end to persistent rumors that he was switching stations. During the press conference for his concert Piolo meets the Maestro Ryan Cayabyab to be staged this February 14 at the PICC Plenary Hall, Piolo revealed that he is set to sign a new contract with ABS-CBN next month. He also explained that he is very much happy to be a Kapamilya. “I think makikita naman sa aura ko, ugali toward work, na happy ako with ABS-CBN. Wala po akong complaints, problema sa station. Wala akong kailangang isipin kung hindi pagbutihin pa ‘yung trabaho ko kasi they’ve been so nice to me, gracious. Maganda ‘yung partnership namin ng ABS-CBN.”

Piolo can’t even understand where there is this persistent rumor of a network switch is coming from. “Honestly hindi ko rin alam kung bakit. Last year nga, before I even started taping for Noah, sinabi na lilipat daw ako. E nakakontrata na ako that time with ABS-CBN.

Another story that surfaced was that he demanded a talent fee of one billion pesos for three years from a rival TV network who wants to hire him as an exclusive artist. When told about this, Piolo laughed, “Sarap namang pakinggan ‘yun, ha ha ha! Sana totoo. Wow! Pangarap lang ‘yun!” But according to reliable sources, the proposed one billion-peso asking fee is very real, and that ABS-CBN offered Piolo a bigger amount so he would remain a Kapamilya.

The actor/singer/model joked that if he was ever offered a one billion peso talent fee, he would instantly take the bait. “Siyempre tao lang ako, ha ha ha!” But seriously speaking, Piolo said he values honor more than money. “Pero kasi sabi sa Bible, ‘Choose honor rather than riches.’ You have to protect your name first before you get blinded by material stuff.”

What Piolo only admitted was that there were really offers from other networks and that he actually thought about making the switch. But there have been I think more than negotiations, considerations, not just with TV5 but also with GMA7 and others. You want to grow din naman in this business. You just want to do things na alam kong makakapagpa-grow sa iyo not just as a person, but also as a businessman and a celebrity. Pero masaya ako. Wala akong problema.”

But in a surprise birthday party after his meetings, Piolo thanked ABS-CBN for giving him and his family a good life. He further underscored his intentions of staying with the channel by declaring, "I am staying as a Kapamilya!"

Tom Rodriguez on Working With Melai Cantiveros

While he’s working on the Precious Hearts Romances series Mana Po, Tom Rodriguez is also busy gearing up for the Voiz Boyz concert on February 18 at the Music Museum as well as being on the remake of the 1980 film Temptation Island. The Fil-Am actor said he has already talked to Dina Bonnevie (who was part of the original film) about it. “I worked with Ms. D on another network na kasi. She’s really nice,” he said in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph.

Tom admitted that he has no problem getting into more daring roles, especially since Temptation Island is known for its sexy theme. “I’ve shown skin before in my role sa Precious Hearts Romance Presents: My Cheating Heart and Here comes The Bride. As long as it’s tasteful and hindi naman malaswa, why not,” he shared.

In his latest Precious Hearts Romance series Tom plays the role of Johnny Santos, the childhood friend of Brandy Dela Paz, played by Melai Cantiveros. “Sobrang in love yung role ko kay Brandy. As in sobra-sobra. Tom said he understands where his character is coming from because he’s been in a similar situation before while he was in the States. “I’ve felt like that but maybe not sobrang in love. I had a crush on someone, parang unrequited crush,” he added.

Tom said that he is enjoying his current project because of the fact that he gets to hang out with his former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Melai and Jason Francisco. Because of their love triangle in the story, Tom said he can also understand why it’s not hard to fall for Melai in real life. “Sobra siyang maalagang tao, sobrang bait. She’s so caring. Even when we were inside the house up to now na nandito na siya, even after all the success, ganun pa rin siya, maalaga pa rin. Maasikaso siya and she’s really down to earth. Still really nice.

When it comes to beauty, Tom has always been vocal about his admiration for Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador. But now, the PBB hunk admitted he finds Imortal actress Maricar Reyes to be a standout beauty. “My current crush is Maricar Reyes. Talagang crush ko yun. I’ve had a crush on her before pa. She’s got an aura about her, she’s so regal. She has that aura about her, just so regal and elegant. Parang those 1950s actresses in the US like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, parang ganun yung aura niya,” he admitted. But despite his attraction, Tom said he has yet to introduce himself to the mestiza beauty. I never talked to her. Sobrang torpe ako, hindi ako ganun. I’ll just admire her.

Walt Disney's Hercules on Kapamilya Kiddie Blockbusters

This Saturday, ABS-CBN continues to bring you the best animated movies from Walt Disney as it presents the TV premiere of Hercules.

Long after Zeus, ruler of the Greek gods of Mount Olympus, defeats the Titans and locks them deep in the bowels of the earth, he and his wife Hera give birth to a son, Hercules. All the gods of Olympus celebrate Hercules's birth except for Zeus's jealous brother Hades, who was forced by Zeus to work as lord of the dead in the Underworld, and seeks to overthrow his brother. Hades learns from the Fates that in eighteen years, a planetary alignment will reveal the location of where the Titans are trapped, allowing him to free them and take over Olympus, but only if Hercules doesn't interfere. Hades sends his minions Pain and Panic to kidnap Hercules, bring him to Earth, and kill him after giving him a potion that will turn him mortal. However, Pain and Panic are unable to give Hercules the entire potion which, while still making him mortal, allows him to retain his godlike strength. Hercules is then found by a farmer and his wife, who raise him as their own son.

Over the next eighteen years, Hercules grows up into a misfit, his strength seen as a nuisance to all the locals. After being rejected by the townsfolk when he accidentally destroys the marketplace, Hercules questions where he truly belongs. His foster parents reveal how they found him with a medallion bearing the symbol of the gods, so Hercules travels to the Temple of Zeus, where the almighty god's statue comes to life and reveals his past and true lineage. Zeus explains that Hercules can become a god again and return to Olympus if he can become a true hero, so he sets out on his old childhood friend Pegasus to find the satyr Philoctetes—"Phil" for short—a trainer of heroes. Phil has long-since retired after failing to train a successful hero, but is convinced to train Hercules.

After his training is complete, Hercules sets out with Phil and Pegasus to the city of Thebes to prove his newfound worth. Along the way, Hercules saves a woman named Megara—"Meg" for short—from being pestered by the centaur Nessus, and becomes attracted to her. Unbeknownst to Hercules, Meg is in league with Hades after selling her soul to save a man she once loved, but had left her for another woman. Discovering Hercules to still be alive, Hades sets up a trap for him outside of Thebes where he is forced to battle the Hydra. However, Hercules manages to defeat the Hydra, and is praised by all of Thebes as a hero. Hercules is treated like a celebrity, but Zeus informs him that he is not a true hero yet.

Meg is sent by Hades to find Hercules' weakness, but she falls in love with him instead. Phil discovers Meg to be working for Hades and attempts to warn Hercules, but abandons him after an ensuing argument. Realizing that Meg is Hercules' weakness, Hades uses her to make a deal with Hercules in which he must give up his powers for an entire day in exchange for Meg's safety, using this time to free the Titans and take over Olympus, while Hercules is crushed by Meg's deception and loses the will to fight. One of the Titans, a Cyclops, is sent to Thebes to eliminate Hercules. Meg convinces Phil to return to Hercules, motivating him into battling and defeating the Cyclops through improvisation. However, Meg is mortally wounded by a falling column to save Hercules, though it breaks Hades's deal of Meg not being harmed and restores Hercules's powers, allowing him to defeat the Titans. Unfortunately, he is too late to save Meg from dying.

Hercules confronts Hades in the Underworld and offers his soul to reclaim Meg's. Hades accepts, but only if Hercules can reclaim it in the River Styx, which gradually saps his life force as he swims. However, his will to sacrifice his life for Meg awakens Hercules as a true hero and restores his status as an immortal god. Hercules successfully retrieves Meg's soul and punches Hades into the River Styx, where he is dragged to the depths by vengeful souls. Hercules returns Meg's soul to her body and brings her back to life, and is brought to Olympus where the gods welcome him back into his old home. However, Hercules is unable to live without Meg, and Zeus allows him to stay on Earth as a mortal to stay with the one he loves. Zeus creates a constellation of Hercules in the night sky, allowing the world to hail him as a true hero.

Ahron Villena Back as Kapamilya

After a short stint in a reality show in GMA7, Ahron Villena will be back to Kapamilya Network joining the new fantaserye "Mutya".

It will be remembered that Ahron started his career when he won the MTB Idol in 2004 on ABS-CBN.

Ina Feleo on Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig

"Saka parang yung relationship kasi ng character namin ni Jomari dito, older guy siya, much older than me na more serious. Ako naman yung bagets na medyo kengkay.

"In real life, ganun talaga din naman kami.

Siya yung inspirasyon ko rito to do the scenes sa buong movie.

"I'd like to call on someone [I've known even], before she was born, because her mother and I were two females in a mostly male-dominated industry.

"It's very difficult not to be emotional about her for the same reason that I get very emotional with my son, David Abaya [na siyang cinematographer ng Ikaw ang Pag-ibig]. He accompanies me on the set as well as in scans because he's got far steadier nerves than his brother, the artista Marc Abaya."

Ang Ikaw ang Pag-ibig ay produced by the Archidocese of Caceres at ng MDA Film Institute and Arts Center.

Valerie Concepcion Will Not Transfer to TV5

On a forced vacation after the closing of the short-lived ABS-CBN show Pilipinas Win Na Win (PWNW) which replaced Willie Revillame’s Wowowee, Valerie Concepcion as a single parent is spending quality time with her six-year-old daughter Fione (whose father is the nephew of Ali Sotto) before she starts work on a soap and a segment of Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG), both on Kapamilya ABS-CBN.

Meanwhile, her home studio is letting her do guestings on TV5 (Untold Stories and as judge in Talentadong Pinoy). Valerie said she’s not transferring to the Kapatid Network.

Jomari Yllana on Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig

Although he was only the second choice to play the role of Joey in Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig, it was as if Jomari Yllana was really meant to be part of this movie tribute to Our Lady of Peñafrancia because of his family’s historical connection to the loss and recovery of the said miraculous image in Bicol. “Mga four or five generation of devotees yung mga ninuno ko e. From one generation to another, meron sa pamilya namin ang nagiging pari or madre. Lahat ito nag-aalaga sa Our Lady of Peñafrancia. There was a time na yung lola ko siya nag-aalaga and she was the only one allowed to touch her at nag-bibihis kay Ina,” said Jomari to the local press during the special screening of Ikaw Ang Pag-Ibig at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theater last January 10.

Jomari claimed that Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig is the most special project that he has done in his showbiz career. He did not just waive his talent fee for the sake of a meaningful cause but also for the personal journey it entailed from the moment he accepted the job.

The dashing actor was also grateful because this is his reunion movie with director Marilou Diaz-Abaya whom he first worked with in Sa Pusod Ng Dagat (1998). “Na-miss ko siya. Pero tulad ng sabi ko kanina, parang hindi lang director ang tingin ko sa kanya while working on this project. Hindi lang siya tabaho para sa akin. I’ve never been so focused with any of my projects.

In the story, Jomari plays a doctor and longtime boyfriend of Ina Feleo’s character who will never let her down when her family’s faith is put to the test due to an unexpected turn of events. In the same way that he will prove the depth of his love for her despite the conflicts in their relationship. When asked how the movie changed his perspective about love, Jomari simply replied, “Para sa akin itong pelikula na ito ay isa sa pinaka nag-explain ng true meaning of love. That it conquers all and it’s above everything [that we expect in life].”

Gerald Anderson and Sarah Geronimo, Both Excited for Their First Movie Together

At marami ang nagsasabi na siguradong mali-link ang dalawa because they’re both single.

Marilou Diaz-Abaya Proud of Her New Movie

Director Marilou Diaz-Abaya is proud of her comeback movie entitled Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig, which is a tribute to the tercentenary celebration of our country’s devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia or simply Ina to the devotees of the said patroness of Bicol province. A project two and a half years in the making, the award-winning filmmaker/breast cancer survivor shared why Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig is truly a film of faith. “Bago in-offer sa akin yung project I was in remission, tapos nung tinanggap ko ito bumalikyung cancer. So during that time sinulat ko yung script. And then kung kailan time for production, dun ako nag-remission ulit. So para bang hindi na ako ang nagdi-direct, si Ina na yung nagdi-direct,” said Marilou who happens to be a long-time devotee of Ina just like her good friend Laurice Guillen. Laurice’s late husband Johnny Delgado also served as one of Marilou’s inspirations in writing, directing, and producing the movie.

Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig was originally titled Peñafrancia with Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo as lead stars. But they were later replaced byJomari Yllana and Ina Feleo due to Judy Ann’s delicate pregnancy last year. “We started with Judy Ann and Ryan, and then when she got pregnant, e medyo maselan ang pregnancy niya, so nag-discernment kami and Judy Ann agreed—I said I think ang sinasabi ni Mama Mary, ‘You know what, Judy Ann, I just don’t want you to play the role of a mom, I want you to be a mommy, which eventually sobrang blessing for Ryan and Judy Ann. Truth be told, all those who got involved in the film, in one way or another got a gift. And I am happy with our new cast led by Jomari, Ina and Marvin (Agustin) because their connection in the project is very personal in a lot of ways.”

Marilou also expressed her gratitude to Star Cinema for making it possible for Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig to be shown in theaters nationwide. “This project is also special because first time ng ABS-CBN at Star Cinema namag-distribute ng film this way, hindi lang through the mainstream theaters pero bringing the film directly to the universities so it’s exciting. We will start showing in schools on February 9, tapos sa mainstream theaters on February 23, tapos by blocks all the way until September of this year which is the conclusion of the tercentenary celebration of Peñafrancia. It’s also one way of having a chance in the box office. Hindi ko alam kung mapapasalamantan ko enough ang Star Cinema at ABS-CBN for taking such a big courageous risk on a film of faith. I wish them all the blessings not only for this year but for many years to come.”

Asked if she already has plans to work on another movie anytime soon, Marilou claimed that she’s taking it one step at a time. “Whatever the Lord decides. I will still try my best to tell as many stories as I can, whether as a writer, as a director, as a producer or even as a teacher since I really love to teach. But for now I am just really happy with Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig because it really depicts the story of love between girlfriend-boyfriend, husband and wife, love of parents and how these different kinds of love are ultimately put to the test whether through illness or betrayal. I think we tend to cheapen the meaning of love. So I had the chance by making this movie to explore kung ano talaga ang meaning ng love.”

Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig is a joint project of Marilou Diaz-Abaya Film Institute and Arts Center and Star Cinema.
