Kapamilya Stars on Issues Haunting Them

Many Kapamilya stars have finally addressed the latest rumors about each of their love life and career.

Coco Martin commented on the budding romance between his crush Maja Salvador and car racer-turned-actor Matteo Guidicelli. “Sabi naman ni Maja hindi naman sila.....nasa pagkakaibigan pa lang sila)..kinikilala pa lang isa’t isa,” Coco said on "Showbiz News Ngayon," Jan. 7. Should Maja and Matteo’s relationship reach another level, Coco said he'd accept it. “Siguro kapag dumating at sinabi niya na meron na akong dapat pagpaalaman sa mga gano’ng eksena, bakit naman hindi? Napaka-ano naman ‘yon, eh, pagiging propesyonal bilang lalaki.”

Meanwhile, Andi Eigenmann shed light on her rumored romance with showbiz newbie Albie Casino. “We ended in bad terms so how can we be the best of friends?” was Andi's rhetorical question. The relationship, she said, lasted for quite a while. She blames immaturity for their failed romance. “Tagal no’n, eh. It’s not gonna put to waste just like that. Wala naman talagang nangyari. Bata pa lang kami and we still care and tend to look out for each other.”

Then there's Gerald Anderson who is excited over his new tandem with Jewel Mische. “Bagong tandem, panibagong challenge. Siyempre ‘yung chemistry namin talagang ite-test namin dito. Sana magustuhan ng mga tao. I’m sure they will dahil napaka-natural namin dito,” said he pertaining to their upcoming teleserye. Gerald finds his new leading lady “very down to earth, humble and mabait.” But even with this qualities, the actor downplays any romantic angle between them. “Basta magpo-focus muna kami dito sa Buhawi Jack and sa chemistry namin on TV,” he said.

As for Anne Curtis, she downplayed rumors that her boyfriend Erwan Heussaf will join show business soon. “Sa mga tsismis na ‘yan I’m the first to say na hindi naman totoo ‘yon,” she explained. But should Erwan decide to do so, Anne will just have to support him all the way. “If that's his passion, why not, ‘di ba pero I got to assure you guys hindi siya mag-aartista.”


Denying that he reconciled with ex-girlfriend Cesca Litton last Christmas, Jericho Rosales said his relationship with her is “okay. Masaya ‘yung Pasko...masaya ‘yong Bagong Taon. Nag-exchange gift kaming dalawa,” he shared.

Ina Feleo Signs With Star Magic

Kamakailan ay pumirma na si Ina Feleo bilang talent ng Star Magic. Dati siyang Backroom talent na pinamamahalaan ng TV host na si Boy Abunda.

Ayon kay Ina, naging maayos naman ang pag-uusap nila ni Boy tungkol dito.

"Pinag-usapan namin dati ni Mommy para magpatulong to find ng work. And since lagi naman ako sa ABS-CBN lumalabas, sa Star Magic na lang. Before pa ako pumasok sa showbiz, kinausap na dati ni Daddy si Mr. Johnny Manahan," paliwanag ni Ina.

Magiging parte si Ina ng action-romance series na Guns & Roses na pagbibidahan nina Robin Padilla, Bea Alonzo, Diether Ocampo, Ejay Falcon, at Empress.

Magiging parte rin si Ina ng dalawang socially-relevant indie films: ang Deadline na tungkol sa media killings, at ang Patikul, isang Cinemalaya entry na tungkol sa problema ng mga coffee farmers sa Mindanao area.

Star Cinema Wins Big in MMFF

Star Cinema raked big success both commercially and critically in the recently concluded 36th Metro Manila Film Festival. Two of Star Cinema’s entry in the annual holiday movie fest, Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To) and Dalaw, were among the three biggest earners of all the eight films shown exclusively in theaters across the country from December 25 of last year to January 7, 2011.

The number one spot in the box office race was claimed by Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, top-billed by Senator Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto, which raked in Php 159 million. According to MMFF administrators, all eight movie entries earned a combined total gross of Php 530 million, a figure which is Php 93 million higher compared to the revenue of last year’s festival.

Ang Tanging Ina, the third and final installment in the comedy film franchise headlined by Ai Ai De Las Alas, earned P157 million and claimed the second spot. The movie was also a runway winner in the MFFF Gabi ng Parangal for bagging a total of nine awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Wenn Deramas, Best Actress for Ai Ai, and Best Supporting Actress for Eugene Domingo.

Placing third in the box office race was Dalaw, a horror flick starring Kris Aquino. Dalaw, a joint project between Star Cinema and Cinemedia, earned Php 96 million, and this fulfilled the prayers of Kris for Dalaw to at least place third in the box office bout. The Queen of All Media co-produced Dalaw which served as her ‘comeback’ movie.

Star Cinema also had another entry, RPG Metanoia, which is co-produced with Ambient Media. RPG Metanoia, the first 3D animated feature film in the Philippines, featured characters voiced by Zaijan Jaranilla, Eugene Domingo, Vhong Navarro, and Aga Muhlach. The movie took home five MMFF award namely Third Best Picture, Best Theme Song (Kaya Mo), Best Sound Recording, and Gender Sensitive Award.

Other movie entries in the MMFF are Father Jejemon, Rosario, Shake,
Rattle and Roll XII, and Super Inday and the Golden Bibe. All the films in the MMFF are still being screened in theaters nationwide.

Boy Abunda's Revelations on K Magazine

As one of the most popular faces in the Kapamilya network, Boy Abunda has managed to build a name for himself not just as a talent manager, but as an effective TV host as well. The simple boy from Eastern Samar who grew up to be the host of the country’s most popular entertainment shows like The Buzz and Showbiz News Ngayon shared some insight on how he got to where he is today. “Discovering your passion is not a science. It’s living life as truthfully as you can. In my case, a career in television was not written on the wall. I didn’t know there was a career to be made in talk TV. But I was a talker. I was very verbose and expressive,” he recalled in the latest issue of K, the Kris Aquino magazine.

The 55-year-old host admitted that even his family did not expect him to be in the limelight. “My tatay wanted me to be a lawyer because he said I talked too much. Nanay wanted me to be an accountant because, for her, that profession represented a financially stable life. So I listened to them, but I did not kill my passion for the arts,” he said.

In the magazine article, Boy urged people to follow their passions, just like what he did despite the roadblocks he encountered. “Your truth is the most important thing. Not the truth of your mom and dad, but your own truth. It’s instinctual. It’s not attached to an age, especially in the entertainment business. You can’t be a bold star at 62. Your bones will tell you if you still have the stamina [for what you want to do.] Pero huwag kang ilusyonada. O kaya yung nagugutom ka na, pero sige ka pa rin ng sige. If I had continued to pursue my father’s dream that I take up law, I wouldn’t be as happy as I am today,” he shared in K.

Boy also stressed that it’s important to remain grounded and not be carried away by unrealistic expectations. “It’s also important to know your strengths and believe in them. I was told that no, I wasn’t suited for television, that I had a Waray accent, that I was not beautiful enough—and I was told these things to my face by one of the most powerful producers. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up in television, or where I am now,” he admitted.

Aside from giving advice on how to recognize individual strengths and passions, Tito Boy also reflected on how thankful he is for all the blessings God has given him. “But God works in beautiful ways. Madaldal talaga ako pero hindi ko alam sa talk show ko magagamit. So again, my thing is just to live it. If you’re given a job today, do it the best way you can, and that can lead you to the next post. Why? That’s what happened to me,” he said.

Jason Abalos Grateful for Star Magic

Jason Abalos described 2010 as his luckiest year. “Hindi ako nawalan ng trabaho. Lagi akong may ginagawa, wala akong bakasyon. Maganda ‘yon. Sabi ko hindi ko hiningi pero ibinigay sa akin ng Diyos,” shared the actor at the Joel Cruz fashion and concert show at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds last Saturday, January 8.

The actor is currently part of the afternoon soap Alyna, which is top-billed by Shaina Magdayao. The said show has been extended until the end of February and Jason is glad that their project has attained a loyal following. “Kami kasi nung nagsisimula ‘yan medyo hesitant pa kami baka medyo pa-sexy ito. Si Shaina bagong image, tapos ‘yun pala ang hinihintay ng tao si Shaina to step forward,” he related.

Jason added that although their working hours are grueling because Alyna is a daily show, he is not complaining. “Pagod oo, pero ang saya lang, walang tensyon, walang stress,” he said positively.

Without going into details, the actor from Nueva Ecija confirmed that he has a lot of projects lined up this 2011 and said that his work allows him also to grow as a person. “Habang iba’t-iba ang ginagawa mo, iba’t-iba ang experience sa buhay mo, parang mas marami kang napupuntahan, mas lumalawak ang pananaw mo sa buhay,” he explained. He continued that he is grateful for the acting projects even when Star Magic is handling a lot of talents.

This is also why Jason thinks that he is still single now. “Wala lang sigurong dumarating [na love life] kasi nakakulong ako sa trabaho. Ako ‘pag sa trabaho nawawalan ako ng time kahit kanino, kahit sa pamilya ko.” However, he justified that he gets to go out sometimes with showbiz friends like Maja Salvador and Kim Chiu.

Kapamilya Snapshots: Gerald Anderson's Shirtless Holiday in Baler, Aurora

While Kim Chiu was enjoying the cold, snowy weather of Korea, Gerald Anderson had fun during the last holidays with his awesome male friends in Baler, Aurora.

He was with fellow PBB ex-housemate Fred Payawan and some other friends who are now getting famous such as Ali Claus, Mike Young and Jalal Cali Laidan.

Gerald and friends were there for two days and had a shirtless adventure together. They soaked in the sun, hit the beach, had surfing, toured the place and made some real hot pumping actions.

Kapamilya Snapshots: Kim Chiu's Trip to Korea

As one of the busiest stars of ABS-CBN, Kim Chiu seldom has time for herself especially when she did the teleserye Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo and the movies Paano Na Kaya and Til My Heartaches End last year. On top of that, her reel and real-life relationship with Gerald Anderson suffered a huge blow after the latter got romantically linked to Bea Alonzo. As such, she decided to take a much-needed break by spending the previous holidays in Korea on her own. “Masaya naman. Pumunta ako sa snow sa Korea. Nag-ski, namasyal, nag-tour, nagpakasawa sa snow. First time, childhood dream ko yun, so ngayon natupad na,” said in an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon.

Aside from her wonderful vacation abroad, she and Gerald seem to be getting along really well again. Apparently, the two were seen getting cozy with each other backstage at ASAP before the Christmas break last year. It was a clear indication that they’ve remained good friends despite the trials they have encountered on and off screen. Whether or not they’d end up getting back together again remains to be seen though.

In the meantime, watch out for Kim’s exciting projects this 2011 including the teleserye Binondo Girl opposite Matteo Guidicelli and a movie with Piolo Pascual.

Tom Rodriguez Joins Melason in Mana Po

After formally signing with the Kapamilya network last month, Tom Rodriguez is looking forward to working on his first project for the year, Precious Hearts Romance presents: Mana Po, which also stars his former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco. The series is going to be launched late next month on ABS-CBN. “This is my first project for 2011. I just came back from a vacation. I worked on Christmas so after that I took time off to relax from December 30 to January 5. Now I’m back and ready to work,” he shared in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph.

The Fil-am hunk admitted he was especially looking forward to working with familiar faces again. “I’m very excited for this project. It’s a romantic comedy. There’s some drama involved but there’s going to be some comedy aspects. I was very excited lalo na nung nalaman ko na si Melai at si Jason yung makakasama kasi magkakasama kami sa Bahay ni Kuya so andun yung pang mini-reunion feeling na may sarap factor para sa akin,” he admitted.

After working on projects with other networks, Tom said there was a comfort in coming back to his home network, especially when he gets to go inside the Pinoy Big Brother house again for rehearsals and other projects. “Ang weird nga eh na nakakapasok ulit ako dito sa bahay dahil nakikita ko na kung ano yung nangyayari sa likod. Sumilip ako sa likod. Sorry Kuya! (laughs). Pero may halong nostalgic feeling na lahat ng memories, ‘pag naalala ko, ‘pag sobrang tagal na, feeling ko lahat magaganda. Overall ‘pag iisipin ko, those were the good old days. Mas na-a-appreciate ko yung mga nangyari ‘pag tumagal na, so maganda pa rin, parang may marker. Para pagtingin ko kung anong iba sa buhay ko since last year, ayun yun. Ang sarap din isipin na ganun nga, heto kami na magkakasama ulit. The same people, but at the same time, we’ve been through a lot in one year,” he said.

Tom said that even though they are all celebs now, nothing has changed much since he last saw Melai and Jason. “Close pa rin kami. Kanina kulitan, tawanan, parang yung dati lang nung nasa loob lang kami ng bahay ni Kuya. Pareho pa rin naman sila. Of course iba na yung trabaho namin ngayon dahil showbiz. Pero kami ganun pa rin naman, wala akong napansin talagang bago,” he said.

Angel Locsin Delighted for the Success of Imortal

Drama actress Angel Locsin expressed delight over the fans' overwhelming support for her TV series "Imortal" which had a good play-off in the prime time ratings recently.

“Natutuwa naman kami dahil nakikita naman namin na sinusuportahan ng mga tao ang programa na ginagawa namin,” Locsin said.

"Imortal" is set to be more exciting these days as the lead characters Lia (played by Locsin), and Mateo (played by John Lloyd Cruz), who come from different clans of mythical creatures, clash. Locsin portrays a werewolf who has fallen in love with a vampire, played by Cruz.

According to Kantar Media/TNS, "Imortal" garnered a 23.6% percent viewership on December 31, compared to GMA's "Beauty Queen" (12.5%).
