Finding Nemo on Kapamilya Kiddie Blockbusters

This Saturday morning, Kapamilya Kiddie Blockbusters brings you the free TV premiere of another Walt Disney hit animated movie "Finding Nemo".

It tells the story of an overly protective clownfish Marlin (Albert Brooks) in search of his son Nemo (Alexander Gould), who was stolen from their coral reef. Marlin is joined by a regal tang called Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) in his journey across the vast ocean of the Great Barrier Reef.

Meanwhile, Nemo's captor, a dentist, drops him into a fish tank in his office on Sydney Harbour, and Nemo meets its residents, a group of fish called the "Tank Gang". The gang is led by a crafty and ambitious moorish idol fish named Gill. The fish are frightened to learn that the dentist plans to give Nemo to his niece, Darla, who has previously killed a pet fish in a bag of water by shaking it. Gill gives Nemo a role in his most recent escape plan, which involves jamming the tank's filter and forcing the dentist to remove the fish from the tank while he cleans it manually. Nemo attempts to jam the filter using a rock, and his first attempt fails and nearly kills him, but he later succeeds after Nigel the pelican visits with news of Marlin's journey. The plan, however, is thwarted when the dentist installs a more advanced filter and has no need to take the fish out of the tank.

Upon leaving the EAC, Marlin and Dory become lost in a huge cloud of polluted water, and are trapped inside the mouth of a blue whale. The whale carries them to Sydney Harbour, where Marlin reluctantly trusts Dory and allows himself to be ejected from the whale's blowhole at the risk of being eaten. They are then met by Nigel, who recognizes Marlin after hearing stories of him and transports him and Dory to the dentist's office. By this time, the dentist has put Nemo into a bag and is preparing to give him to Darla, but Nemo plays dead in hopes of saving himself and the dentist prepares to toss Nemo in the trash bin, but Marlin, Dory, and Nigel enter in the nick of time and cause a commotion that makes some patients in the waiting room think that the dentist has gone crazy. Marlin sees Nemo and mistakes this act for the actual death of his son and the dentist finally throws them out. After another chaotic struggle, Gill helps Nemo escape into a drain through a sink plug-hole.

Overcome with despair, Marlin leaves Dory and swims back toward his home. Without Marlin, Dory loses her memory and becomes confused, but meets Nemo, who has escaped into the ocean through an underwater drain pipe. Dory at first does not realise who Nemo is, but her memory is suddenly restored after she reads the word "Sydney", and she guides Nemo to Marlin. The two joyfully reunite, but shortly afterwards, Dory is caught in a fishing net among a school of grouper. Nemo convinces Marlin to let him attempt to save Dory, by entering the net and telling the school to swim downward - a technique he learned from the Tank Gang. The fish succeed and escape, and Marlin, Nemo and Dory return to their home on reef. No longer overprotective or doubtful of his son's safety, Marlin sees Nemo off as he leaves for school.

Julia Montes Wants to Follow Bea Alonzo's Footsteps

Julia Montes has been so busy shooting for Mara Clara the past few months that she was grateful for the holidays since she could have some quality time with her family. The young actress who plays the antagonist Clara explained that her hectic schedule rarely permits her to be with her family as much as she wants to, but she clarified that she is not complaining because her latest project has fulfilled her dream to be famous.

She shared that she wants to follow the footsteps of Bea Alonzo. “Kasi po siya ‘yung nandun na [sikat] pero humble pa rin siya napakabait pa rin po niya,” she described Bea. “Nung nakilala ko po kasi siya before ganun pa rin po siya until now. Hindi po lumalaki ang ulo niya so [siya] talaga ‘yung idol ko.”

Julia went on to say that the popularity she earned from Mara Clara exceeded her expectations. “Hindi ko po ini-expect na ganon [kalaki]. Nung simula po iniisip ko baka wala lang, walang mangyari sa akin [in terms of my career], baka mamaya mainis lang ‘yung tao sa akin,” she related.

She added that she has no qualms of accepting another kontrabida role. “Work po ‘yon,” she said practically. “Masaya po ako sa work na ito nae-enjoy ko so tatanggapin ko.”

The young actress also added that she does not mind if she will be typecast in kontrabida roles. “Aminin po natin challenging po ‘yung pagiging kontrabida kung ganun man po. Choice naman po ng management ‘yon [kung gusto po nila akong bigyan ng ganong roles].” But she added that she also dreams of getting a lead role as a protagonist in the future. “Halos lahat naman po ng artista ‘yun po ang gusto, so ‘yun ang wish ko din.”

10 Things I Hate About You Season 2 on Velvet

The hit teen tv series is back on the country’s premium general entertainment channel.

Ready for more house parties, extreme school riots, and tons of sisterly bonding? Well, good news! Velvet, the country’s premium general entertainment channel proudly brings the exclusive Philippine airing of 10 Things I Hate About You Season 2, Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

After just one term, the Stratford sisters Kat (Lindsey Shaw) and Bianca (Meaghan Martin) already made their mark on Padua High. Outspoken Kat, a known campus activist, has let down her guard, just enough to hook up with mysterious bad boy Patrick (Ethan Peck). Her social-butterfly sister, Bianca, on the other hand, has taken on self-centered head cheerleader Chastity (Dana Davis), and just might be dating her ex would-be male model Joey (Chris Zylka)—much to the sorrow of love-struck nerd Cameron (Nicholas Braun). Will the fierce rivalry of Bianca and Chastity heat up in this season?

The TV series 10 Things I Hate About You was adapted from the 1999 same-title teen romantic comedy film directed by Gil Junger which starred the late Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, David Krumholtz, and Larry Miller. Movie critics say that 10 Things I Hate About You is loosely based on William Shakespeare‘s The Taming of the Shrew, just set in a modern American high school in Seattle.

In the television adaption of 10 Things I Hate About You, American teen stars Lindsay Shaw and Meaghan Martin take the role of the remarkable Stratford sisters. With them is their on-screen father Larry Miller, who takes the role of funnily overprotective Dr. Walter Stratford.

Pleased by the parallel between herself and her very first TV character on Ned’s Declassified School Survivor Guide, teen star Shaw proclaims that she subscribes to the same “can do” credo. Martin is best known for her role as the beautiful yet bossy Tess Tyler in tween flick Camp Rock. She reprised her role as Tess in Camp Rock 2. Miller, on the other hand, is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces, in over 50 films and numerous television shows. He began his career with a memorable cameo as the brown nosing store manager in Pretty Woman.

Do not miss Velvet’s ultimate comedy-drama offering this New Year! Catch 10 Things I Hate About You Season 2, Tuesdays 8 p.m. on Velvet, the country’s premium general entertainment channel.

Star Records Rules in 2010!

Last year was indeed a shining year for ABS-CBN’s recording arm, Star Records, as six out of the ten top selling albums of 2010 came from the said network’s subsidiary.

Data coming from Astrovision/Astroplus, one of the leading retail outlets in the country with 54 stores nationwide, showed that Star Records have dominated their list of top 10 selling albums last year. Jovit’s Baldivino’s “Faithfully” owned the top spot. Music industry wide, Jovit’s first album is also the best selling abum of the year. Piolo Pascual’s “Decades 1”, Willie Revillame’s “Ikaw Na Nga,” “I-Star” Anniversary album and Juris’ “Now Playing” landed on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth spots, respectively. The compilation album “60 Taon ng Musika at Soap Opera” took the 8th post.

Music Uplate Live, a late-night musical-interactive show, awarded the six albums last January 7.

This is a strong proof that Star Records has offered nothing but fifteen years of quality music and recording and will continually provide superior and premiere albums through the years.

Abangan sa Primetime Bida!

Angelica Panganiban in Star Cinema's Bulong

After the success of the film "Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na 'To," ABS-CBN's movie outfit Star Cinema is opening 2011 with horror comedy "Bulong" starring controversial actress Angelica Panganiban and "Showtime" host Vhong Navarro.

Ogie Diaz on Mutya

Entertainment host and columnist Ogie Diaz shared that he will be back on acting via a new television series.

In his 40th birthday celebration, the "E-Live" host said that he will be part of ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Mutya."

"Mayroon akong gagawin teleserye, ang Mutya," Diaz said.

He added that he will be playing a vital role in the series since he will be the one to raise the show's lead star.

Diaz said he already started taping for the series that will be shown this coming March.

"Si Mutya ako ang mag-aalaga, nagtaping na kami at 'yan ay mapapanood nila sa March," he said.

Diaz's last acting project was for ABS-CBN's hit defunct series "May Bukas Pa" with Zaijan Jaranilla as the lead.

The series, which started airing February of 2009, ended on February 5, 2010.

Report has it Lara Quigaman will take the lead role as "Mutya" and will be paired with Alfred Vargas.

Enrique Gil Denies Sex Video Rumors

Fil-Spanish young actor Enrique Gil vehemently denied that he has a sex video.

In an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon, the "Shoutout" mainstay took the issue lightly and stressed that it was not him in the video.

"Ako? Grabe alam ko naman na hindi totoo 'yon nakakagulat talaga," Gil said.

"Kung anuman 'yong iniisip ng mga tao, pero wala talaga , wala talaga, good boy ako," he added.

Gil was part of dance group "Gigger Boys."

He was also part of the shows "Pieta," "Rosalka" and "Kokey@Ako."

Melai Cantiveros Apologizes to Mr. Fu

Melai Cantiveros said that the issue of her burning the picture of radio and TV jock Mr. Fu on the gag show Banana Split was blown out of proportion. The Pinoy Big Brother Double Up Big Winner said that their objective in burning the picture in that particular Banana Split episode was to suggest letting go of the past year and to welcome the brand new year. Mr. Fu became a sensation last year because of his expression, “Me ganon?”

“Hindi naman po talaga kami close [ni Mr. Fu]. Hindi kami magkakilala po. Ngayon kung tanungin n’yo po si Mr. Fu baka hindi niya ako kilala,” explained Melai. “Sabi ko naman din, nagpapatawa kami [at] isa ‘yan sa mga gags. Ang motive namin is magpatawa. ‘Yun mga nauso sa 2010. Wala naman ako masamang intensyon hindi ko kilala magagalit ako, abnormal ako hindi ko kilala [aawayin ko]?”

Melai also did not hesitate to express her apologies to Mr. Fu if he was hurt by what she did. “Kung nasaktan man siya dun, pasensiya and sorry kung nasaktan siya dun. Hindi ko naman alam na nagkasala ako dun, artista ako, eh. Sabi ni Direk, pinapagawa lang sa akin.”

The comedienne also said that this controversy is nothing compared to real problems in the society. “Sa amin nagpapatawa kami hindi naman ‘yon over-over, hindi ‘yun malaking isyu. Maraming dapat isyuhin yung mga lahat ng ginawa ng mga pulitiko, maraming dapat pag-usapan pictures lang yun po. Ang sobra pa sa Internet para kang nakapatay ng tao na hindi naman. Parang pinalaki lang.

Meanwhile, Melai is now gearing up for her next TV show, which is also her launching TV series together with real-life boyfriend Jason Francisco. The said afternoon teleserye will be a Precious Hearts Romances presentation entitled Mana Po. Joining them in the project is their fellow PBB Double Up ex-housemate Tom Rodriguez.

Empress Schuck on Team-Up With Ejay Falcon

Empress confirmed that she is good friends with Ejay Falcon who’s slated to be her new ka-love team in the upcoming action series Guns and Roses. For someone who’s been in the biz for many years, the young actress felt that it’s only right to help a newbie feel comfortable around other stars. “Totoo naman yun, kinakausap ko naman siya. Kasi nga tahimik siya so ako na ‘tong lumalapit na, ‘Uy okay ka lang ba? Okay naman ba yung showbiz?’ Kasi ganon naman talaga ‘pag bago ka tapos ikaw naman mas nakakaalam so lalapitan mo talaga. I was just being friendly. Siguro naman happy siya na makasama ako kasi parang isa din ako sa tina-trust niya.”

As previously reported, Empress was one of the people who helped Ejay bridge the gap between him and Erich Gonzales. The two had a falling out when they worked together in Katorse two years ago. But so far Empress has nothing but good words to describe Ejay. “Ang pagkakakilala ko sa kanya, tahimik, ‘di palabiro. Pero yung konting time na magkasama kami sa mga rehearsal at sa look test para sa bagong show namin, maalaga siya, tsaka ‘di siya nahihiya sa akin. Kung nahihiya man siya, sa akin pa rin siya lumalapit kasi alam niyang kami ang magtutulungan .”

Being paired with different leading men in her shows is an exciting challenge according to Empress. Her last on screen partner was Felix Roco in Rosalka. “Hindi ibig sabihin na ‘pag love team ‘di na pwedeng naghihiwalay kasi ang artista naman ‘di lang sa isang partner umiikot, dapat sa lahat talaga. Mas maganda nga kung madaming makakasama to gain new friends tsaka ibig sabihin tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho.”
