Kathryn Bernardo and Albie Casino's Loveteam Proves to be a Hit on Mara Clara

Kung napukaw ng ‘Mara Clara’ noon ang puso ng pamilyang Pinoy, walang pinagkaiba ang maka-bagong ‘Mara Clara’ dahil tuloy-tuloy ang pagarangkada ng naturang primetime series sa ABS-CBN sa nationwide ratings.

Ayon sa pinakahuling nationwide ratings result ng Kantar Media noong December 13 (Lunes), hindi pa rin matinag-tinag sa unang puwesto ang ‘Mara Clara.’ Nagkamit ito ng 28.7% na rating habang ang katapat naman nitong programa, ang ‘Grazilda,’ ay nakakuha lamang ng 15.7% na national rating.

Samantala, painit ng painit ang alitan nina Mara (Kathryn Bernardo) at Clara (Julia Montes). Mas marami pa ang nadadamay sa away ng dalawa. Sa kabilang dako, magtataka si Vanessa (Cherry Lou) kung bakit naka shades si Christian (Albie Casino). Malalaman nito na nagka-black eye si Christian dahil kay Mara. Dahil sa nangyaring ito, pagsasabihan ni Vanessa si Christian na layuan si Mara.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010 on Velvet

The angels are back...the Victoria's Secret angels, that is, as they take to the runway in the latest incarnation of the much-awaited "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show." Uber-hot supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima lead the angels this year, as they strut their stuff on the famed V-shaped stage to the music of hot musical acts Akon and Katy Perry. Manila gets to witness the sexiest show of the year when it premieres on Saturday, December 18 at 10:00pm, exclusively on Velvet (Sky Cable channel 53).

While Heidi Klum may have retired her angel's wings, a new crop of beautiful models don the three sexy collections - Tough Love, Heavenly Bodies and Wild Things - from the popular lingerie brand. Tyra Banks took her final walk as a model in the 2005 show, to concentrate on a career on television, while Bundchen was a Victoria's Secret Angel until 2007. In last year's show, Heidi Klum wowed the audience in a stunning corset-dress and wings that showed off her sexy body, just months after giving birth.

Kapamilya Stars Gather for Christmas Special

Gaya ng inaasahan, isang malaki at engrandeng extravaganza ang inihanda ng ABS-CBN para sa Kapamilya, Isang Maningning Na Pasko: Rhe ABS-CBN Christmas Special sa Araneta Coliseum noong Martes ng gabi, December 14.

Pinagsama-sama ang napakalawak na stable of stars ng Kapamilya network para sa natatanging handog sa kanilang mga manonood.

Nagbukas ang special sa pag-awit nina Gary Valenciano, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sarah Geronimo, Arnel Pineda, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, Erik Santos, Rhap Salazar, Sheryn Regis at Vina Morales ng mga tradisyonal na himig-Pamasko, kasama ang Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab.

Nagbigay naman ng kanyang Christmas message on behalf of ABS-CBN ang president at COO ng network na si Ms. Charo Santos-Concio. Ang tema nito ay pagpapasalamat at pag-asa sa hinaharap sa tulong ng Panginoong Hesus na siyang dahilan ng pagdiriwang ng Pasko.

On Spotlight: Young JV of Shout Out!

Push.com.ph recently visited the studio of the new daily teen variety show ShoutOut and got to interview mainstay performer Young JV. The 20-year-old singer-dancer expressed his happiness over becoming a part of ShoutOut because the program will enable him to show off his talents. “Super saya ko because for me this is not work. Parang everyday life na talaga para sa akin ang music and performing. It’s a blessing na maging pareho ‘yung hilig mo at ‘yung trabaho mo. Also, ShoutOut will help me, unang una sa exposure. Second is for me to improve my craft as a performer. Each day made-develop ‘yung skills ko.”

Young JV, or Eduardo JV Kapunan III in real life, burst onto the showbiz scene as a singer-dancer with his debut album Ready or Not. He told Push.com.ph that when he was about to release the album, he was a bit unsure if the Filipino market would appreciate the R&B/hip-hop sound of his album. “Before I started, nagtanong ako kung bakit wala nang masyadong R&B and hip-hop sound sa Philippines. Kaya super critical nung nag launch ako ng first album ko. We had no idea kung kakagatin siya ng mga tao. Pero ‘yung first single ko na ‘That Girl,’ pumatok siya sa mga high school and college students. Naipakilala ako and ‘yung sound ko na halos wala masyadong Pinoy na gumagawa.”

In the Pinoy music scene, only a few have made a name for themselves as R&B/hip-hop stars, like Jay-R, Kris Lawrence, and Billy Crawford. Just like them, Young JV got the chance to experience the life in the US and around Europe where the R&B/hip-hop sound is much more popular than in the Philippines. Young JV said he wants to change the mindset of many Pinoys that R&B/hip-hop is just a thing of the western culture. “Hip-hop now is global. Hindi na lang siya for Americans, for blacks. Of course maraming pa ring hindi informed. Ang hip-hop nag-start sa States, pero hindi lang siya tumigil dun. Ngayon meron nang hip-hop sound sa Japan, Korea, Taiwan. Wala ‘yan sa race. Ngayon marami nang Pinoy na kaya nang mag hip-hop.”

Young JV couldn’t help but feel sad that many Pinoy music lovers would prefer listening to Korean pop, which is a hot trend as of now, than local pop songs when in fact Filipino artists are just as good if not better than those in neighboring Asian countries. “Sa Korea kasi ‘yung mga artists nila sumusubok sa Hollywood. Like si Rain, nakagawa na siya ng Hollywood movies. Ginagastusan talaga nila. Sad lang na napagiiwanan na tayo when in fact kaya rin nating gawin ‘yung ginagawa nila, and baka nga mas magaling pa. Magagaling tayo pero dito lang tayo umiikot sa Philippines. Sana ma-expose rin tayo sa global market. Kagaya ng nagawa nina Charice and Billy. Sana maraming pang katulad nila. Marami tayong talented artista na alam mong world-class ang galing, pwedeng mag-compete sa international scene.”

He pointed out that coming up with material that will prove to be a hit in the market is not just about copying the trend. In this day and age, Young JV said originality is important. “Ang Pinoy ayaw ng gaya lang. So if you’re an artist, dapat gawin mo rin siya na parang original, make it your own. Nung nauso ang K-Pop, ang daming grupong naglabasan na kunwari K-Pop wannabees. Kaya ako I just stick to what I do best and what I like. Ayokong manggaya na feeling ko hindi ako.”

Showtime Season 2 Grand Finals This Saturday!

The whole country will stand still once again when the nation’s most entertaining performers fight it out this Saturday, December 18, in the much-anticipated “Showtime Season 2 Grand Finals” on ABS-CBN.

Once again, viewers will be treated to world-class performances this time from monthly finalists “Big Trio,” “Kidz@Trix,” “89.9 Hoodz,” “Mama’s Boys,” “Lal-lo’s Blacklight Performers,” “Speed Movers Crew,” “Xtreme 24/7,” “Laoag City Gymnastics Group,” and “Zero Gravity,” the winner of this week’s Wild Card round.

Hosts Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Kuya Kim Atienza, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz and resident judge Vice Ganda share the excitement of the madlang people as the day of reckoning for the groups approaches.

“Magagaling ang lahat ng grupo kaya siguradong mainit ang magiging labanan,” said Navarro.

Vice Ganda, meanwhile, has a reminder for the grand finalists.

“Hinahamon natin ang mga grupo na pakitaan kaming mga hurado at ang madlang people ng bago. Ito na ang pagkakataon nilang magpasikat kaya ibigay na nila ang lahat,” he said.

Viewers are also looking forward to the return of Season 2’s guest judges including Ryan Bang, Jhong Hilario, Kaye Abad, and Karylle to help Vice Ganda with the grueling task of scoring the performances.

Early this year, dance group “XB Gensan” gave a rousing number that drove the audience to applause and tears on the way to winning the show’s P1-million prize.

Meanwhile, “Showtime” will also put a twist to Filipinos’ Christmas celebration with Christmas-themed episodes from Monday (Dec 20) to Saturday (Dec 25) featuring some of the biggest stars in the country.

Toni Gonzaga Sets to Do a Movie With Bong Revilla

Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. is set to do a movie with ABS-CBN's contract star Toni Gonzaga.

During a press conference for his Metro Manila Film Festival entry, "Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote" with Vic Sotto, Revilla said his camp and the Kapamilya's movie outfit, Star Cinema, is just looking for the right script.

"Hinihintay ko lang ang go signal ng Star Cinema. I'm just waiting for the right script na pagsamahin kami," Revilla said.

The actor said he is looking forward and excited to work with Gonzaga, lead star of the hit “My Amnesia Girl” opposite John Lloyd Cruz.

Aside from promoting his upcoming movie with Sotto, Revilla is also doing his own television show and attending to his legislative work.

Gonzaga is a mainstay of musical variety show “ASAP XV” and a co-host of weekly entertainment "The Buzz".

Judge Inhibits Self From ABS-CBN Vs. Willie Revillame

A Quezon City Regional Trial Court judge inhibited himself from hearing the legal battle between ABS-CBN and its former talent, Willie Revillame.

"In the interest of fair play and in order to avoid suspicion from the parties, this presiding judge resolves to voluntarily inhibit himself from hearing this case," Judge Luisito Cortez said in his order.

The order was dated December 13, the same day that the Kapamilya network revealed in its petition the “undisclosed relationship” between the spouse of Cortez, lawyer Angelita Ortega Cortez, and TV5 president Ray Espinosa.

Angelita and Espinosa, whose network airs Revillame’s new program, worked in the same law firm in the past.

ABS-CBN feared that this “hidden fact” might affect the outcome of the case where Revillame is seeking to be allowed to work in another station despite his existing contract obligations with his former home network.

Aside from this, the Kapamilya network noted the “numerous conflicting orders and resolutions” handed down by Cortez.

It also charged the judge with bias and partiality for approving the P426-million bond posted by Revillame that purportedly contained the actor’s “forged signature.”

Cortez, however, said these fears were baseless.

"While the defendant's perception is mistaken and unfounded... the court cannot close its eyes to the fact that they have lost their faith that this presiding judge can fairly and impartially decide the case," he said.

Cortez previously declined to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) stopping the airing of Revillame’s “Willing Willie” despite the TV host’s existing contract with ABS-CBN.

With Cortez’s inhibition, the case is set to be raffled off again.

John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo Back Together on ABS-CBN 2010 Christmas Special

John Lloyd Cruz is paired up once again with his perennial loveteam Bea Alonzo during the ABS-CBN 2010 Christmas Special held in Araneta on Tuesday evening, December 14th.

Angel Locsin, John Lloyd's current leading lady in "Imortal", was sick so she failed to attend the said event, but good thing Bea is always there for John Lloyd.

Bea and John Lloyd were among the 4 pairs in a number featuring the "teleserye loveteams". The other 3 pairs were Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga (Kokey), Cristine Reyes and Zanjoe Marudo (Martha Cecilia's Kristine) and Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales (Green Rose).
