Kapamilya Hunk 2010 No. 24: Vhong Navarro

Vhong Navarro proved that being funny is synonymous to being sexy as he became the Kapamilya Hunk number 24.

He is Totoy Bibo, Agent X44, Lastikman, to name a few of his characters in movies and television. He is seen everyday from Monday to Sunday via Showtime and ASAP XV. His series with Toni Gonzaga just finished last week and a new horror-comedy movie under Star Cinema will be shown next year.

Blogatorials: TV5 Not Respecting Contracts?

It started with Willie Revillame's transfer to TV5 even there is still a contract between him and ABS-CBN. And now, Willie revealed on his TV5 show that Sarah Geronimo will soon have her own show on the said station. But a few months ago, Sarah Geronimo just signed a contract with ABS-CBN. So what is happening now? Just because TV5 got away with Willie Revillame from his contract with ABS-CBN, they are thinking that they can do it with Sarah. TV5 therefore is not respecting contracts. What now is the relevance of having a contract then? TV5 is really playing dirty and let us just see where will it take them. They should not let themselves called as Kapatid, they should be called as "MAGULANG" because of these dirty tactics.

Sharon Cuneta and Aga Muhlach Finally Reconcile

Apologies were exchanged and accepted.

This was how Sharon Cuneta described her recent talk with Aga Muhlach that resulted in their reconciliation.

“Basta nag-usap kami, pinuntahan niya ako tapos nag-usap kami. Apologies were exchanged, accepted,” she told “The Buzz.”

According to the megastar, Muhlach, her leading man in 2003 film “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana,” was the first one to reach out.

“Marami pa rin akong tanong pero ayoko ng magtanong,” she said. “Wala na wala na ‘yon. I can never not forgive Aga. Hindi ako mapagtanim. Kaya lang hindi kami kasing dalas mag-keep in touch. Siguro life happens, so, kanya kanyang pagka-busy kami ngayon.”

She added: “I’ve always known na ang friendship talaga you keep it special. Basta kami ni Aga nagkakaintindihan kami, basta nag-usap kami, ayos na kami.”

Cuneta, however, declined to comment on their long-delayed reunion project, saying she has been talking about it in the past weeks.

She said: “Siguro huwag muna nating pag-usapan kasi parang pagod na pagod ako."

It would be recalled that it was during Ai-Ai delas Alas Alas's concert on November 27 when Cuneta pretended that she didn't know Muhlach, sparking speculations that the two were not on good terms.

Cuneta has clarified that it was meant to be a joke, but she admitted that she was upset when the actor purportedly turned down their reunion movie project.

As for her Christmas gift, meantime, the megastar said she will bake him a carrot cake, also a favorite of Muhlach’s wife, Charlene Gonzales. “I’m just glad talaga, magpa-Pasko na, mas magaan na ang loob ko ngayon."

No Competition Between Directors Wenn Deramas and Cathy Garcia-Molina

There seems to be a brewing debate on who between Wenn Deramas and Cathy Garcia Molina truly deserves to be called the “Box Office Director.” Director Cathy was behind the top-grossing romantic flicks One More Chance, A Very Special Love, and You Changed My Life, while Direk Wenn helmed the box office hit Ang Tanging Ina, its sequel Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat, and the upcoming third and final installment Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To. With their respective achievements, the two have been recipients of the Box Office Director award given by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation.

“Walang ganun! Si Cathy, mahal ko yan!” Direk Wenn said about the alleged brewing rivalry. He added that he has no feelings over a good friend’s own success. “A few days ago nagkita lang kami, naghaharutan pa kami. Pareho kaming nagsimula dito sa ABS-CBN kaya, ito sasabihin ko na walang halong ka-echusan, kung si Cathy ang magiging Box Office Director magiging happy ako. Kung ako naman, I’m sure magiging happy siya.”

Direk Wenn further explained that he and Cathy have their own unique approaches and expertise in terms of directing a movie, that’s why he believes the two of them are deserving of the Box Office Director title. “Natanong na ako sa press conference ng Petrang Kabayo, ang sabi ko sa tingin ko si Cathy ay deserving din ng title na Box Office Director. May taon na siya ‘yung nanalo na Box Office Director, pero ‘yung Tanging Ina 2 hindi kasi umabot sa cut-off. Kahit mas malaki ang kinita nun, hindi pa rin ako pwedeng manalo. Pero nabigyan naman ako ng Most Popular Writer award. So happy kami pareho.”

However, for Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To which will open on December 25, Direk Wenn confessed that he is hoping he can win the Box Office Director award once again. “Kaplastikan kung sasabihin kong hindi ako umaasang makuha ko uli ‘yung Box Office Director award para dito sa part three. Gusto ko talaga. Pero sana muna kumita ‘yung pelikula para maibigay nila ‘yung award, ha ha ha!”

Sabel Not a Katorse Rip Off

Relative showbiz neophyte Jessy Mendiola still could not believe that she landed a lead role in the upcoming early primetime series, Sabel, which will start this Monday, December 6, before TV Patrol. Among Jessy’s notable projects were Gmik 2010 and Tayong Dalawa, where she played the leading lady of Coco Martin.

“Hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala, para akong lumulutang, kasi last project ko support roles tapos biglang lead role,” related Jessy at the press conference of Sabel. “Sobrang laki ng pasasalamat ko. I didn’t come from a famous family or [I did not win in a] reality show pero I was very surprised lang na someone like me would be given the chance sa lead role sa teleserye. Sobrang laki lang ng pasasalamat ko. Sobrang nervous lang ako [and] sana magustuhan ng mga tao ang Sabel.”

But as early as now, controversies are already following Jessy. For instance, some say that Sabel is similar to Katorse, the teleserye that boosted Erich Gonzales to stardom. Just like Erich, the teaser of Sabel showcases Jessy as a blossoming woman, which connotes sexiness. But Jessy was quick to clarify that Sabel’s main attraction is more than just the physique of its stars. “Sa teaser lang siya sexy. ‘Pag sa scenes, dun sa acting kami nagpo-focus hindi sa cleavage or pagpakita ng skin. Kasi si Sabel is very sensitive, inosente siya. Si Sabel kumpara kay Nene (Katorse character) hindi siya nagmamadali. More on kunwari nililigawan siya ng lalaki natatakot siya sa lalaki, lalayuan niya. Si Nene kasi she wants to be with a guy, parang nagmamadali siyang magka-love life. Si Sabel parang lagi niyang hinahanap ‘yung tatay niya.”

The Filipina with British-Lebanese blood said that she is aware that oftentimes newcomers being groomed for stardom are often ac. “May mga controversies na, ‘Ay parang ngayon ko lang nakita ‘yung boobs niya, nagpalaki ba siya?’ Ako magpapalaki? Hindi ko naman kaya ‘yon. Kaya minsan push-up (bra) lang ang katapat niyan,” she said smiling. “’Yung mga controversies na ganyan hindi ‘yan maiiwasan kasi showbiz nga tayo and ‘yung mga pag-compare sa akin sa ibang leading ladies sa mga shows nila. Iba-iba po kaming ng kayang ibigay. Iba-iba po kami ng beauty, iba-iba po kami ng ugali.”

Jessy also expressed that she intends to make the most out of the big opportunity entrusted to her. “Minsan lang po dumating tsaka sobrang laki po ng pasasalamat [ko]. Sa dami-dami ng artista, ako po ang napili na gampanan si Sabel. Hindi po mawawala ‘yung kaba so sana pumatok,” she said hopeful. “Siyempre po kinakabahan ako kasi hindi naman natin maiiwasan na ‘yung Sabel i-compare sa Katorse kasi same timeslot nga po and nagpapa-sexy. But sa trailer pa lang po magkaibang-magkaiba na ang storya.”

Sabel is also based from the ‘80s movie Bata Pa si Sabel, which starred Snooky Serna and Albert Martinez. Jessy’s leading men include AJ Perez and newcomer Joseph Marco.

Goin' Bulilit Goes Action!

After the heartwarming ‘Sa Puso ng Pasko’, Going Bulilit stars go action.

They’re always seen doing gags and cracking the country’s most humorous jokes. But now on their sixth year, the most-talked-about Goin' Bulilit stars are ready to showcase their versatility in the action-filled tale Going Bulilit Presents Wag Mo Akong Galitin this Sunday, after TV Patrol Weekend.

Last week, in Going Bulilit Presents Sa Puso ng Pasko, the witty Bulilits proved that besides comedy, they can also perform well in drama. And now, their stamina is challenged as they go action in the much-awaited Wag Mo Akong Galitin.

“Sobrang mas exciting na po yung ginagawa namin. Kung dati puro gags lang kami, ngayon masusubukan na namin ang drama, action, horror, atbp. Enjoy po kami at para pa rin kaming naglalaro,” ani Going Bulilit pioneer Nash Aguas.

For six-year-old Cha-cha Cañete, who first became famous because of her real estate commercial, her roles in the all-new Going Bulilit will definitely hone her acting skills. Like her famous “ates” in ABS-CBN such as Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, Angel Locsin, Cristine Reyes, etc., Cha-cha also wants to star her own teleserye someday.

“Sobrang marami pa po akong gustong matutunan sa pag-aartista,” the charming Cha-cha said.

Wag Mo Akong Galitin and Sa Puso ng Pasko are only few of the big offerings of Going Bulilit this yuletide season. Catch as the Bulilits visit “The Big Red” this December.

In the movies, he has already been paired with award-winning actresses like Maricel Soriano and Rosanna Roces.

He's one of the cast in the upcoming horror movie from Star Cinema "Dalaw" opposite Kris Aquino.

Kapamilya Hunk 2010 No. 28: Tom Rodriguez

Tom Rodriguez or Bartolome Alberto "Tom" Mott in real life is our Kapamilya Hunk number 28. He is an alumni of Pinoy Big Brother Double Up.

Tom is an amateur musical composer and illustrator from Arizona. He is a native of Catbalogan City, Samar, Philippines but migrated to the United States when he was 12 years old with his mom and dad, who is a US Navy serviceman.

After his eviction from Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up, he signed under Star Magic and took the stage name Tom Rodriguez. He made his television debut in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: My Cheating Heart.

In 2010, Rodriguez had a small role in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya with Angel Locsin. He and his fellow Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up housemates were cast in Your Song's summer episode Isla. He later played the love interest of Valerie Concepcion in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Love Me Again. He also joined all male-singing group VoizBoys replacing Ronnie Liang, who was pulled out from the group because he has an existing contract to do an album as a solo artist.

He made his film debut in Here Comes The Bride and later appeared in the film Petrang Kabayo. He was also a guest cast member of Aga Muhlach and Ai-Ai delas Alas comedy sitcom M3 (Malay Mo Madevelop).

Kapamilya Hunk 2010 No. 29: Paul Jake Castillo

Kapamilya Hunk Number 29 is PBB Alumni Paul Jake Castillo. He finished 1st Runner-Up to Melai Cantiveros in Pinoy Big Brother Double Up.

This Cebuano businessman belongs to a wealthy family and since childhood he lived a comfortable life. But his parents also taught him all the right values. Paul also doesn’t mind enjoying the simple things in life with his friends. He mingles with employees of their company as if he is not the heir to the family empire. However, not wanting to rely solely on his family, he put up his own business which eventually became successful. Paul earned enough money to study abroad.

Kapamilya Hunk 2010 No. 30: Alex Castro

A former talent and product of reality show in GMA 7, Alex Castro is our number 30 among the Kapamilya Hunks for 2010. His first project with ABS-CBN was with Kim Chiu and Ai-Ai delas Alas in Your Song Presents Maling Akala, then followed by Wansapanataym's Valentina opposite Maja Salvador. There are rumors that he will be cast in Galema, Anak ni Zuma with Andi Eigenmann.

During one of his early interview in the network, Alex expressed his gratitude for the attention given to him by ABS-CBN. “Nagulat po ako nung una. Noong tinawagan po ako, hindi ako makapaniwala. First project ko po ito sa ABS-CBN and sobra po akong thankful. First project and si Kim Chiu and Ai-ai Delas Alas agad ang makakasama ko. Blessing po talaga.”

Alex is also busy doing public service as he continues his job as councilor of Marilao, Bulacan, a post he has had for the past 8 years.
