Sam Milby Talks About Relationships

While he and international singer Marié Digby still communicate with each other, Sam Milby said they have decided to remain just friends and will no longer bring their relationship to the next level.

“Ang hirap lang talaga kasi unang-una ‘yung schedules namin. At pangalawa for me it’s different pag magkakilala kayo in person tapos na-in love. Tapos nagkahiwalay. Parang naging long distance. Pero ito, nagsimula kami sa malayo. Nagsimula kami sa Twitter. Nagtu-tweet kami,” the singer-actor said in a recent interview.

Sam shared that the most recent he and Marié met was when she watched his concert in Japan recently. The actor stressed they did not go on a date after the show, and that it was only the fifth time they've seen each other personally.

Sam said he likes the singer's trustworthiness. Asked if he had ex-girlfriends who were unfaithful to him, he said that he had his suspicions but these were never confirmed.

“Parang I can’t say that I’m sure about it pero may duda ako. May gut feeling na may something. Never ko naman nalaman kung totoo o hindi. But very strong feeling,” Sam said.

The actor said that though he enjoys being single, he is ready for a commitment anytime.

“Hindi ‘yun ‘yung isang bagay na pipilitin. It just happens. Wala akong dine-date. I’m just waiting, I guess. Kung mangyayari siya, mangyayari siya. Hindi ako ‘yung type na kailangan ng relasyon, ‘yung dependent sa relasyon. Okay naman ako kahit single ako,” said he.

All roads lead to Araneta Coliseum on November 19 for the Comedy Concert Queen AiAi delas Alas’ 20th anniversary concert aptly billed “Akin ang Tronong ‘To.”

Mediation of Willie, ABS-CBN Case to Start Next Month

The camps of Willie Revillame and ABS-CBN agreed on Wednesday to hold their first mediation hearing early next month.

Both parties hope to reach an out-of-court settlement with regard to the television host’s contract with the Kapamilya network when the mediation process begins on December 3.

"We are hopeful that the parties will come to a settlement soon in time for Christmas," mediator lawyer Jovy Beldad said as he faced the legal counsels of both parties on Wednesday at the Quezon City Hall of Justice.

They are given 30 days to reach an agreement. The talks can be extended for another 30 days depending on the progress of the mediation process.

According to Revillame’s legal counsel, lawyer Dennis Espejo, his client is open for a settlement.

The Philippine Mediation Center is also optimistic that it can help bring the case into a resolution. Otherwise, it said the case will go back to the court for a final verdict.

Last May 25, the network suspended and placed Revillame under probation after he publicly asked the network to sack talent and showbiz reporter Jobert Sucaldito for allegedly attacking “Wowowee” guests on the latter’s radio program.

The management eventually pulled the plug on "Wowowee," prompting Revillame to unilaterally end his contract. ABS-CBN, however, refused to release Revillame from his contract obligations.

Revillame has sought judicial confirmation of the rescission of his contract with the network last August 20. He also asked for more than P11 million in damages and legal fees from the TV network.

The court, on the other hand, granted the network’s petition to ask Revillame to deposit an amount of more than P400-million bond while the case is being heard.

Bea Alonzo Excited for the Teleserye With Robin Padilla

Actress Bea Alonzo on Tuesday shared with all excitement her next project after ABS-CBN’s hit fashion series “Magkaribal.”

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Alonzo revealed all is now set for a television soap she will be doing with action star Robin Padilla.

“Magsa-start na ako ng soap with Robin ng December. Baka late November magwo-workshops na kami, story conference,” she said.

Asked if she is ready to face possible intrigues once paired with Padilla, the talented actress said she is more ecstatic than worried.

“Hindi naman. More than iyong takot, .wala talagang takot, mas excited ako! Excited ako to be working with him, with Robin Padilla. ‘Yon pa lang parang prestige na yon ‘di ba? Hindi naman lahat ng kababaihan sa henerasyon namin makakatrabaho siya sa isang soap opera,” she said.

Meanwhile, Alonzo divulged that like the rest of “Magkaribal” cast, she also wishes for a Part 2 of the hit television series.

“Lahat kami may hangover pa sa Magkaribal. Umaasa kami na magkaroon ng book 2 kasi we so love the show, we love the cast. Sana magtuloy-tuloy pa kasi lahat kami parang nabitin. The same way na nabitin din ang audience namin,” she said.

PMPC Awarded Cheche Lazaro With Excellence in Broadcasting

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) on Saturday night gave veteran broadcast journalist Cheche Lazaro the Excellence in Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award in the recent 24th Star Awards for television.

Lazaro is the founding president of the Probe Productions Incorporated. She was cited to have left a mark on the lives of a lot of people through the reports and documentaries she made in the past 24 years. Her hardwork was given recognition to have made a difference in the journalism industry.

In her acknowledgement speech at the PMPC awards night, she attributed her award to all the people she have worked with.

“I’m very proud to receive this on behalf of the people I’ve had the privilege of working with. This award really belongs to them. They are the people who have given me the energy to do what we’ve done in 24 years,” she said.

While Lazaro has chosen to retire, the award-winning journalist revealed that her love for journalism will never diminish.

“While I have decided to retire from active broadcast journalism on a weekly basis, I have not really retired. There are so many among us in this audience tonight and in the world of television who continue the work of integrity, transparency and accountability in the work that they do. Marami pong salamat sa parangal na ito,” said Lazaro.

Lopez Group of Companies Garnered 10th Philippine Quill Awards

It was a rich harvest for the Lopez Group at the 10th Philippine Quill Awards with six Excellence awards and eight Merit awards, plus the top award in the Communication Management division copped by ABS-CBN Corporation for “DZMM Kapamilya, Shower Na!”

The Philippine Quill Awards handed out by the International Association of Business Communicator (IABC)-Philippine Chapter is an annual recognition of the best exemplars of communication management, communication skills and communication creatives in the last year.

Winners are chosen for their ability to set clear objectives that support business goals, bring value and measurable benefits to the organization, and measure the outcome of communications programs.

DZMM Kapamilya, Shower Na! was among 12 Excellence awardees in its division that competed for the top prize. Among the contenders were “Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo. Ako ang Simula”, another Excellence awardee for ABS-CBN.

The other four Excellence awards of the Lopez Group were in the Communication Skills division courtesy of First Gen Corporation (First Gen) for its 2009 Annual Report (More with Less) and of Energy Development Corporation (EDC) for its 2009 Annual and Sustainability Report (Sustain via Renew), its services video and its corporate video.

Rounding out the Lopez Group winners were the following Merit awardees: ABS-CBN 2009 Annual Report and “Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko Integrated Campaign” by ABS-CBN; 2009 Annual Report (New Beginnings) and Lopez Group’s Journey to Business Excellence by First Philippine Holdings Corporation; “Making a Difference” feature in the 2009 Annual Report by First Gen; Lopez Memorial Museum 50th Anniversary Celebration and the book, “Unfolding: Half a Century” by the Lopez Memorial Museum and Library; and Cleaning Estero de Paco by ABS-CBN Foundation.

“Adobo Digital” by Adobo Magazine was adjudged as the best among the 7 Excellence awardees in the Communications Skills division. There were no Excellence awardees in the Communication Creatives division.

Out of 300 entries, 19 emerged as Excellence awardees and 84 received Merit awards.

John Lloyd Cruz Talks About His Leading Ladies

Janelle Jamer and Gee Canlas Have No Ill Feelings on Pilipinas Win na Win Pull-Out

In an interview with Janelle Jamer and Gee Canlas on the red carpet of the 24th PMPC Star Awards for Television last November 13, they want to clarify why there were suddenly pulled out as co-hosts of noontime variety show Pilipinas Win na Win. Gee, who was first discovered as a co-host of Music Uplate Live, said that she and Janelle were originally hired as temporary co-hosts of Win na Win. “Ang sabi talaga sa amin was one week lang kami. For trial lang talaga kami. Pero dahil naging okay ‘yung ratings feeling ko they decided to keep us. Para sa amin kahit sandali lang, malaking privilege na maging part ng Win na Win. The other good things will just start from there.”

Pilipinas Win na Win was launched last July 31 to replace Wowowee. Initially the show was to be top-billed by Robin Padilla, Kris Aquino, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang, and Valerie Concepcion. But after a series of changes implemented, new hosts were installed—The Hitmakers Rico J Puno, Rey Valera, Marco Sison, Nonoy Zuñiga—along with Pokwang, Valerie, Janelle, and Gee.

Janelle, who started out with Wowowee but resigned after two years, explained that she had to be pulled out from Win na Win because she will have to repackage herself for her soon-to-be-released album. “I will be coming out with a new album na hindi talaga pang masa. The management knows na ibang path ‘yung gusto kong tahakin. While I was in Win na Win, I really enjoyed the company of everyone. Naramdaman ko talaga ‘yung love from all the staff. Never akong nakaramdam ng bad treatment.”

Sad, but not bitter, Gee said that remains optimistic that life after Win na Win will be filled with better opportunities in showbiz. “Honestly I believe God has a way of making everything special. I’m thankful to ABS-CBN, to Ms. Linggit Tan (Head of Entertainment TV Production) and Sir Freddie Garcia (acting ABS-CBN President) for giving me the chance to co-host Win na Win. Ngayon excited ako kasi alam kong ang laki ng plano nila for us.” She added that she is just thankful for all the things she learned and the good friends she found while doing Win na Win.

Janelle confirmed that there was a reason behind their pull out from Win na Win, but refused to specify what new projects ABS-CBN has for her and Gee. “Hindi pa kasi kami pwedeng magsalita kung ano ‘yung mga plano for us. Basta abangan niyo. Hindi nila ako papabalikin and then tatanggalin bigla. Alam kong may iba silang plano for us.”

Arron Villaflor Hopes Astro Mayabang Will Open Doors for Him

Arron Villaflor graced the gala opening night of Cinema One Originals 2010 at the EDSA Shangri-La Cineplex to promote his movie Astro Mayabang which is part of the annual independent film festival. Astro Mayabang is Arron’s first indie film and his first time to take on a lead role. The movie is mostly in Kapampangan dialect which Arron speaks fluently.

The 20-year-old Star Circle Quest runner up, a batchmate of Jason Abalos and Erich Gonzales, said that he accepted Astro Mayabang so he can broaden his experience as an actor while he doesn’t have many mainstream projects. “Lahat naman ng gustong mag artista gustong makapagtrabaho sa mainstream. Sana dito sa Astro Mayabang mapansin na rin ako at mapagkatiwalaan ng more projects sa mainstream. Basta ang wish ko lang is tuloy tuloy ‘yung dating ng magagandang projects. Ang importante sa akin mas marami ang magtiwala sa talent ko. ‘Yun pa rin ang dasal ko.”

To prepare himself to graduate from teenybopper roles, Arron agreed to go half-naked in some scenes in Astro Mayabang and do a kissing scene with leading lady Megan Young. “At first nagdalawang isip ako kasi baka hindi maging maganda ang kalabasan, para sa story at para sa akin. Pero nung nabasa ko na ‘yung script dun ko na-realize na napakaganda ng story nung movie. May kahulugan lahat ng eksena,” he justified.

He also described Megan as very professional when they were about to shoot the intimate scene. “Tinanong ko kasi si Megan kung komportable ba siya sa gagawin naming eksena. Okay naman daw siya. Napaka-professional niya. First time kong gumawa ng ganung eksena kaya nakakakaba. Pero I’m so happy kasi maayos naman naming naitawid lahat ng eksena.”

Arron’s decision to ready himself for possible mature roles on TV and in film, he said, is a way of widening his horizons as an actor. However, he clarified that he doesn’t feel envious over the success of fellow young stars Gerald Anderson and Enchong Dee. “Hindi naman ako nakikipagkumpetensya sa kanila. May kanya kanya naman kaming kakayahan. Magkakaibigan kami lahat, si Gerald nakakalaro ko ng basketball.”

Erich Gonzales on Shout out!

After doing Magkaribal, Erich Gonzales admitted she is looking forward to the launch of her new show Shout Out!, the new teen variety show is set to premiere on the afternoon of November 29. Erich will host Shout Out! along with fellow Star Magic artists Enchong Dee, Empress, Sam Concepcion, Robi Domingo, Arron Villaflor, and Enrique Gil. “Sobrang happy ako to be part of the show kasi it’s something different naman. Aside for acting, I can do a lot of things here. Kumbaga, kung ano yung talents mo, talagang ma-she-share mo sa kanila. Marami rin kaming mga kasama dito na bago, so nakaka-excite din. Something new talaga,” she shared. The 20-year-old actress, who is also gearing up to do a new movie and teleserye next year says she and the rest of the cast have been busy preparing by immersing themselves in workshops on acting and hosting. “Hindi naman kasi kami lahat sanay mag-host pero talagang pagbubutihan namin para maging maganda yung show,” she said.

Aside from the main hosts, Erich said the show will also feature Pinoy Big Brother Teen housemates like James Reid and Ryan Bang. “Talagang mag-e-enjoy lahat ng kabataan dito sa Shout Out! Actually hindi lang ito para sa kabataan pero lahat ng manunuod. Maraming kasayahan, kantahan, ganyan. Mag-e-enjoy lang talaga lahat dito sa show,” she said. The pretty morena admitted that after headlining her first movie I Do, along with fellow Shout Out! co-host Enchong Dee, she is excited to try other things like hosting and doing comedy on the show. “Sana suportahan ninyo at abangan ang Shout Out! Talagang mag-e-enjoy tayong lahat dito and marami kayong aabangan so maraming maraming salamat,” she added.

On her reaction to reports that Kim Chiu’s growing closeness to Maja Salvador has been causing friction with their group, called the Chiurigogobaschu (which also includes Melissa Ricks, Beauty Gonzalez, Kitkat, and Empress), Erich was quick to dismiss any issues. “Actually kaming magkakaibigan, wala naman kaming tampo kahit kanino. As far as we know, wala naman kaming kaaway. We’re friends with everyone. Ayun, hindi ko alam kung bakit may ganyan. Lahat naman tayo may karapatan makipagkaibigan kahit kanino. It’s no big deal. I believe ang kaibigan, nadadagdagan yan, hindi nababawasan,” she said.
