Fanny Serrano Defends KC Concepcion

Bilang kaibigan, natural lang na maging concerned si Fanny Serrano sa mga artistang naging bahagi na ng kanyang salon business, tulad ng mag-inang Sharon Cuneta at KC Concepcion.

Kaya anumang issue na sangkot ang mga ito ay hindi niya puwedeng ipagwalang-bahala, although maingat din si Fanny na basta magbitiw ng mga pahayag.

Noong Lunes, November 8, ay sandaling nakausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Fanny hinggil sa naging sitwasyon ni KC with her former manager, Shirley Kuan.

Bagamat may official statement na si Shirley, ang nauna'y mga blind items, na tukoy ang identity ng talent at ng manager, with some nasty remarks against the former. Pinabulaanan naman ito ng dating manager ni KC.

Sabi ni Fanny, "Ayaw pa niyang mag-comment, kakadating lang niya [from the U.S.], e, busy pa siya kahapon.

"Para sa kanya kasi, si SK [palayaw ni Shirley Kuan] ang mas magandang kausapin, kasi mas problema nila yun [ni KC]."

PEP told Fanny, ayon nga sa mga lumabas, nag-issue na ng statement si SK. But the initial news feeds in blind items mentioned something about KC being "maldita."

Ang opinyon naman ni Fanny tungkol sa isyu:

"Kasi naman, siguro pag ang talent laging 'po' at 'opo' lang, okay sa manager. Pero pag nag-disagree ka, o may question ka, maldita na?

"E, si KC, nag-aral 'yan sa France. Iba't ibang tao naman ang nakakausap niya, she has learned to deal with all kinds of people, e.

"At huwag na tayong lumayo. Noon, si Nora Aunor, na panay din talaga ang 'po' at 'opo' sa pagsasalita niya, na ganun din sa mga managers at advisers niya, na ang image sa publiko, e, masunurin.

"Di ba, kung paano din naman siya sabihang sobrang maldita daw? May hihigit pa ba sa sinasabing kamalditahan ni Nora Aunor?"

Naniniwala rin si Fanny na independent-minded si KC, na maaaring misunderstood lang ng kanyang dating manager.

Tungkol naman sa pagme-makeover ni Fanny sa unica hija nina Sharon Cuneta at Gabby Concepcion, at pagsa-suggest na rin ng mga isinusuot nitong damit at ayos, mayroon daw mga komento si SK na taliwas sa gusto talaga ni KC.

"Minsan kasi, sasabihin ni SK, 'Naku, TF, si KC naman masyadong daring sa choice niya ng styles ng dress na isusuot. Parang hindi pa dapat for her age and status. Siguro, may mas proper time for that.'

"Hindi naman sa pagiging conservative, ano, pero SK felt hindi pa ito ang tamang panahon na magpaka-daring si KC," sabi ni Fanny.

Ngayon ay nasa pangangalaga na ng Star Magic si KC.

The Host and Kimi Dora on Kapamilya Blockbuster

Angel Locsin's Family Received Death Threats

Actress Angel Locsin revealed that her family is now receiving death threats after her niece’s brutal murder in Cebu province last week.

The “Imortal” actress’s relative, 28-year-old Rachelle Sansan, was murdered in her residence in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar town in Cebu City.

Investigators said the victim's 44-year-old husband, Fernando Sansan, is being eyed as the prime suspect in the killing.

Rachelle is the granddaughter of Locsin’s aunt.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Locsin said Fernando is purportedly threatening to harm her and her family through text messages.

“Kapag hindi daw kami tumigil sa kasasalita may gagawin siya sa amin. Hindi ako natatakot sa iyo. Hindi ako natatakot, alam kong mahuhuli ka,” she said.

The actress was emotional during her interview where she described how her niece was tortured before she was murdered.

She said Rachelle, who was badly beaten and was almost decapitated, was treated worse than an animal.

“Nakakagulat kasi kung nakita ninyo lang talaga kung paano ang ginawa niya kay Ate Chelle. Pinutol ang mga daliri, binugbog. Sabi nga kahit bugbog lang puwede na siyang mamatay doon,” she said.

“Pagkatapos niyang bugbugin, marami siyang tama ng saksak gamit ang jungle bolo. Mayroon siyang seven fatal wounds sa buong katawan, tagusan sa puso, sa likod sa lahat. Yong leeg niya muntikang maputol,” she added.

She said she could not understand how anyone can harbor such hate toward someone he claimed he loved.

She appealed to the authorities to take action as Fernando still remains at large. She said she and her family are afraid Fernando will flee the country.

“Tumakas ang taong ito gamit ang kotse ni Ate Chelle, kasama ang nanay niya. Nakita ang kotse sa medyo malayong part na ng Cebu. Nakita ang nanay, sumuko na. Pero ngayon nakawala, nakapag-bail,” she said.

She also called on Fernando to come forward and surrender. She vowed no let-up in their efforts until he is captured.

The actress is also prepared to give a reward to anyone who can give information that would lead to his arrest.

Rachelle, according to Locsin, ran away from home because she was a battered wife. She said she went home on the day of the murder only to get some money.

“I'm not sure kung ilang weeks or months na siyang hindi umuuwi sa bahay na yon. Noong nalaman niyang wala doon ang asawa niya, pumunta siya kasi wala na siyang pera sa bangko, winidraw lahat,” she said.

“So, hinahanap niya ang papeles niya, ang mga pamana sa kanya… Tumawag daw ang nanay, inabutan siya doon, ginulpi. Paggulpi sa kanya nag- blood clot na ang mukha niya so pinikturan niya at sinend niya sa kapatid niya. Tumawag pa ang kapatid niya sa suspek na, ‘Ayusin ninyo yan.’ Sabi aayusin daw. Pagbaba ng telepono pinatay na siya,” she added.

She said her family had accepted him because Rachelle loved him. “Hindi namin alam kung bakit niya minahal ang tao na yon… pero dahil minahal siya ng pinsan namin, tanggap namin siya. Pero ang kapal ng mukha mo na ginawa mo sa pamilya namin ito.”

She said she is speaking up in order to protect her family, and to show Fernando that they are not afraid of him.

Empress Schuck Received Hate Messages From Kimerald Fans

Young actress Empress Shuck disclosed that, like Bea Alonzo, she, too, received hate messages from fans after she was linked to actor Gerald Anderson.

In her interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Schuck, lead star of defunct teleserye “Rosalka,” revealed that Star Magic has advised her to have tighter security following the supposed threats.

“Hindi naman kasi sa akin dumidirekta, ini-inform lang ako ng handler ko kasi nakaka-receive siya ng mga text. Basta ma-inform niya lang na aware ako,” said Schuck.

Earlier reports said Anderson was wooing Schuck, but the actress dismissed the rumors.

In 2009, the 17-year-old actress disclosed that she received threats from fans who thought that she was out to break the Anderson-Kim Chiu love team. She added that she has recently received the same threats.

Alonzo also became the target of an alleged hate campaign staged by “Kimeralds,” the moniker of Anderson-Chiu fans club. The fans purportedly got irked after reports came out that Anderson and Chiu have split up.

Anderson and Chiu have repeatedly denied becoming a couple in real life.

Brosas is now a regular co-host of the show after subbing for Pokwang. Brosas herself made the announcement on her Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon.

Contrary to reports, host-comedian Vice Ganda, the resident judge of “Showtime,” will not move to "Pilipinas Win na Win (PWNW)," his camp clarified.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Vice Ganda's talent manager, Ogie Diaz, pointed out that there was no offer for the comedian to host PWNW.

"Kung may alok man, hindi kami ang magde-desisyon kung hindi ang management," he said.

Diaz also said his ward is happy that he's part of "Showtime."

"At walang isyu na hindi na gusto ng ‘Showtime’ staff si Vice Ganda,” Diaz, who is also a co-host of "Entertainment Live," said, adding:

"Tsaka ko lang iaalok sa ‘Win na Win’ si Vice kapag ayaw na ng ‘Showtime’ sa kanya. At may contract kami sa ‘Showtime’ hanggang December 2011."

Kristine Hermosa Not to Quit Showbiz After Wedding

Kristine Hermosa diffused talks that she will quit her acting career once she marries Oyo Boy Sotto next year.

“No naman. Gagawa pa rin ako ng mga projects pero piling-pili na. Priority talaga ang family. May work pa din ako after ng wedding,” she explained in the same “SNN” episode.

Owing to the tedious preparations for her forthcoming wedding, Kristine admitted she’s slowing things down in acting so she can fully attend to her and Oyo Boy’s altar date.

“'Noah' lang (ang ginagawa ko) tapos mga guesting. Okay na muna ‘yon kasi medyo madugo rin ‘yong preparation talaga, eh,” she said.

Taking a short respite from her very hectic schedule is Angelica Panganiban who spent her birthday last Nov. 4 in Hong Kong.

Cinema One Originals 2010 Kicks Off Today!

Seven unpredictable stories from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be presented in an annual event that aims to showcase out-of-the-box storytelling.

For the 6th edition of the Cinema One Originals film fest, these films will be screened beginning today, November 10, to November 16 at the Shangri-La Mall in Mandaluyong City.

The films competing in the 6th edition of Cinema One Originals filmfest are as follows:

1. Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria Kirchbaum by Remton Siega Zuasola is a novelty comedy about an ambitious provincial lass nicknamed Terya.

The film’s title, which is in Cebuano, means “The Dreams of Eleuteria Kirchbaum.”

Shot in Olango island near Cebu, the film revolves around a girl who becomes a mail-order bride to raise her family from poverty.

What’s interesting about the film is that it was shot in one whole take that lasted one hour and thirty minutes.

2. Third World Happy of writer-director EJ Salcedo is a melodrama about a “balikbayan” artist (Sam Milby) who has not moved on from the tragic death of both his parents.

His perspective in life changes when he comes home to attend a funeral and reunites with his friends and girlfriend (Jodi Sta. Maria).

3. Astro Mayabang of director Jason Paul Laxamana is a social satire about a financially, socially, intellectually, and sexually frustrated boy (Arron Villaflor).

He likes to boast about nationalism and Pinoy pride, but ends up humiliated because of his misguided and aggressive ways.

Arron’s onscreen partner is Megan Young. Marco Morales is cast as Arron’s rival, while former Pinoy Big Brother Double Up housemate Hermes Bautista makes his big screen debut through this film.

4. Dagim is about two farm brothers whose search for their lost father leads them to a company of strange mountain inhabitants.

According to Direk Joaquin Valdes (who co-wrote this with J. Eliseo Sandico), the film’s title is the Tagalog word for a nimbus cloud.

He says his film offers an alternate world where the tribe, led by Marc Abaya’s character, has its own language and rituals.

The brothers are portrayed by newbie actors Martin del Rosario and Samuel Quintana.

5. Ishmael by Richard Somes is about an ex-convict who is ostracized by his neighborhood.

Little does he know that this neighborhood he once knew is set to reawaken his dark past.

Direk Richard helmed the entry Yanggaw, which won six trophies in the 2008 Cinema One Originals film fest.

6. Tsardyer by writer-director Sigfreid Barros-Sanchez is based on a true-to-life story of a Tausug boy who is torn between his loyalty to his Tausug brothers and his concern for the TV journalist (Dimples Romana).

When Shihab (Martin delos Reyes) hears what the abductors plan to do to their prisoners, he races not only to save them but to save war from erupting once again in the jungles of Jolo, Sulu.

7. Layang Bilanggo is a family drama about a fugitive on the run (Pen Medina) who yearns for the love of a daughter he abandoned several years ago.

The convicted assassin disguises himself in an attempt to become close to his daughter (Miriam Quiambao).

This film also stars Jaime Fabregas, Will Devaughn and Neil Ryan Sese.

To date, Cinema One has produced 37 entries through its annual project.

Entries such as Huling Balyan ng Buhi, Rome & Juliet, Confessional, Tambolista, and Imburnal have been honored in film festivals worldwide.

JM de Guzman on Kristine

Get to know the rising kapamilya hunk JM de Guzman as he ventures on his first primetime appearance.

Since the debut of “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine,” viewers have consistently followed the story of the Fortalejos and De Silvas regardless of the program’s timeslot. In fact, last Friday (Nov 5), “Kristine” had a rating of 19.2% compared to just 11.5% of “Bubble Gang” according to the nationwide overnight ratings from Kantar Media.

Now that it has an earlier timeslot, more Filipinos are expected to tune in the epic adaptation of the country’s number one pocketbook series. Aside from the big and shocking developments coming up in the show, there are also new and exciting characters like “Nathaniel Fortalejo-Cervantes,” played by newbie TV actor JM De Guzman.

JM is kind of a Precious Hearts Romances regular after starring in various PHR editions such as “Substitute Bride,” “Midnight Phantom,” and the leading afternoon drama today, “Alyna,” where he plays “Yael.”

Now that he is finally seen on primetime, the young actor can’t hide his glee and excitement to work with the talented cast of “Kristine.”

“Looking forward ako na makasama ulit yung mga co-stars ko sa Midnight Phantom, sina Rafael (Rosell) at Denise (Laurel), kasi naging kaibigan ko na rin sila. Si Zanjoe (Marudo) at si Cristine (Reyes), excited din ako kasi mga kaibigan ko sila off-cam, at first time ko na makakasama sila sa trabaho,” shared JM.

He, however, admitted to feeling nervous as well, especially about scenes with theater stand-out Irma Adlawan. “Kasi yung effort at passion na binibigay niya, kung tinatamad ka mag-isip at mag-put ng effort, makakain ka ng buhay ng acting nya,” said JM, who also does stage acting.

He said he just uses the pressure as inspiration to do better. “Kung hindi ako tensed, ‘pag hindi ako kinakabahan ibig sabihin wala na akong pupuntahan. Kailangan ‘yun, ‘yung kaba, ‘yung pressure,” he said.

Watch out for JM on “Kristine” this week. After the revelation about the true identity of Jaime (Zanjoe) another tragedy is set to strike Paso De Blas. Don Leon will die after a car explosion, which will spark a new war between the two families. Meanwhile, two characters will also enter the scene, Nathaniel Fortalejo-De Silva and a woman named Stella.

Kim Chiu’s next movie assignment, should it push through, is not something to sneer at: Gerald Anderson’s screen partner might soon appear in a Jackie Chan movie.

Contradicting earlier reports that Kim had passed up on the opportunity to work with Jackie in a Hollywood movie, Thess Gubi of Star Magic, confirmed the existence of an offer for the svelte young actress to star opposite the karate superstar.

“’Di po tinanggihan. Go si Kim pero ‘yung project hindi pa sure,” Thess said in a text message to Bulletin Entertainment.

This was in reaction to a report posted by push_mina.com, dated Nov. 9, titled “Kim Chiu, pinalampas ang offer ni Jackie Chan na makasama sa isang Hollywood movie!”

Kim, explained Thess, was personally chosen by the karate action superstar when he saw her photo.

“I think pinili siya ni Jackie Chan nu’ng nakita pic niya,” said Thess.

Kim’s last movie was with her favorite leading man Gerald Anderson, “Till My Heartaches End.” It is said to be their last as a pair.

Karen Davila Speaks on SNN About TV Patrol Changes

Award winning broadcast journalist Karen Davila expressed her utmost gratitude for being part of the country’s number one newscast “TV Patrol” for 6 years.

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” during the World Vision Famine event, Davila admitted she has feelings of loss but she doesn’t have ill feelings when she was replaced in the show.

“I have feelings of loss. Alam niyo naman po na 6 na taon ako sa TV Patrol. Emotional in a grateful way. I want to let everybody know that. I don’t have ill feelings or bitter feelings at all and I mean it ha,” she said.

The World Vision ambassadress also acknowledged that change is normal and that it is the only constant thing in the world.

Meanwhile, Davila said she aims to persist on doing something that is of value to the public.

“Ang gusto ko na lang po is to be able to continue to do work that would be of value to the people and the public we serve. I’m a team player, I’m a good soldier. That’s really what I want you to know,” she said.

Davila and former TV Patrol anchor Julius Babao on Friday bid goodbye to the country’s top prime time news program.

ABS-CBN Established Office of the Network Ombudsman (ONO)

In its continuing effort to promote greater accountability and transparency in its news and entertainment groups, ABS-CBN Corporation has established the Office of the Network Ombudsman (ONO).

On 28 July 2010, the ABS-CBN Board of Directors adopted a resolution creating the ONO and appointing retired Supreme Court Justice Jose C. Vitug as Network Ombudsman. Mr. Vitug also sits on the board as an independent director.

Appointed to act as Deputy Network Ombudsman is veteran newsman Danilo Luis M. Mariano. The ABS-CBN Board of Directors has tasked the ONO with investigating complaints and other concerns from the public regarding the network's news and entertainment programs, content and related areas. The ONO's primary objective is to ensure that ABS-CBN news and entertainment programs adhere to the values of integrity, accuracy, transparency, prudential judgment, fairness and good taste.

In addressing complaints from the public regarding the network's news and entertainment programs, content and related areas, the ONO may use as bases the Standards and Ethics Manual of the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs group, the Broadcast Code adopted by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) and similar standards adhered to by the broadcast industry in general.

In exceptional or urgent cases, the ONO may initiate on its own the investigation of issues pertaining to the network's news and entertainment programs, content and related areas, if in its own sound judgment, such investigation would be warranted.

In investigating complaints, the ONO may issue invitations to concerned network staff and personnel and require their attendance and/or provide information.

The ONO may also require the submission of documents and other materials relevant to its investigation. The ONO shall study, assess and recommend the appropriate remedies and suitable courses of action in carrying out its objectives, functions and responsibilities.

The administrative investigation and imposition of sanctions on concerned personnel, whenever appropriate, shall continue to be governed by the applicable policies and guidelines of ABS-CBN Corporation.

The Network Ombudsman holds office at the ABS-CBN Legal Services Department, 9th floor, ELJCC building.

Roxanne Guinoo on MMK

It’s only been two months since Roxanne Guinoo gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, but she has already agreed to do an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK). She will be playing Albert Martinez’s second wife who isn’t easily get accepted by his children. “Tungkol ito sa isang madrasta at ipapakita namin dito kung paano nagiging hindi madali para sa isang tao na pumasok lang sa isang pamilya. Yung mga typical na nangyayari ’pag hindi magkasundo yung madrasta at mga anak ng naging asawa niya,” said Roxanne in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph on the set of MMK last November 5.

Although she’s known as one of the best dramatic actresses of her generation, Roxanne admitted that she still felt a little nervous during her first few scenes with Albert. “Na-miss ko talaga ang pag-arte. Para akong nangangapa ulit kasi siyempre halos isang taon mahigit akong hindi nag-drama e. Tsaka kapag gaya nito, kasabay ko si Tito Albert siyempre may pressure. Ganun lagi tuwing may nakakatrabaho ako na veteran actor, nate-tense ako and all kasi alam mo kung anong kaya nilang ibigay sa isang eksena so kailangan mo sumabay.”

Roxanne happily shared though that Albert proved to be a very helpful leading man. He made sure that the young actress felt comfortable with him by giving her some acting advice. “First time namin magka-work. Ang kahit anong isang scene pa lang nagagawa namin, napansin ko na nagri-reach out si Tito Albert, siya gumagabay sa akin. Bago mag-take inexplain niya kung anong gagawin namin kasi siyempre may konting ilang factor pa e. I think nakatulong na director din siya so mas pinauunawa niya sa akin kung paano ibabato yung eksena.”

Raising her own family may be her number one priority for now, but Roxanne was quick to say that she has no plans of quitting showbiz. It’s just that she will be choosing projects that wouldn’t take too much time away from her baby. “Yung plans sa career, tiwala naman ako sa Star Magic. Kahit naman nung nagbuntis ako sina Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) nandiyan pa rin para sa akin. Kasi gano’n naman ako, hinaharap ko din naman kung ano man pinagdadaanan ko. Mabait naman ang Diyos. Hindi naman ako nawawalan ng trabaho. Pero ngayon singit singit muna ang guestings. So ngayon masaya ako dahil at least ang comeback ko mabigat agad dahil MMK.”

Aside from doing an episode for MMK, she said that she’s looking forward to more challenging roles and hosting stints as well. “Oo, masaya ako sa acting and hosting na very light, very pang-masa. Tapos kung acting siguro why not try magkontrabida? Willing ako kasi ang pag-arte naman gagawin mo talaga mga ganun. Yun lang nili-limit ko na mga ginagawa ko kasi ngayong may pamilya na ako yun ang unang priority. Pero hindi naman sa tatalikuran ko ang showbiz para sa kanila. Gagawin ko itong trabaho para sa kanila din. Pero may mga eksenang gagawin na ‘di na lang saril ko ang iisipin ko. Masaya ako sa desisyon ko,” she concluded.

Alodia Gosiengfiao is Luis Manzano's Co-Host in LOL

Luis Manzano and showbiz newcomer Alodia Gosiengfiao spoke with The Buzz to finally put an end to rumors linking them to each other. Luis, who recently revealed that he is no longer getting back with ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin, is puzzled why there are claims that he and Alodia have been spotted together many times. “Once ko lang nakasama si Alodia, and after that we decided to eat out. Pero after that, wala na, hindi na kami nagkita. Trabaho na lang kapag nagkikita kami. It’s weird na may taong nakakita sa aming nagde-date nang maraming beses,” Luis told The Buzz. Luis and Alodia will host the new show on ABS-CBN entitled Laugh Out Loud or LOL.

After Alodia’s name was dragged into the controversy for allegedly being the third party in the Luis-Angel relationship, Luis immediately apologized to her. In a separate interview with Push.com.ph, Luis shared how he met Alodia, who is known as “Queen of Cosplay.” “Sa Facebook lang kami nagkakilala. Then we met and I hosted an event for the cosplayers and she was there. From then on naging friends na kami.”

Given their respective busy lives, the two would only have the chance to talk online. Back then Luis already knew that Alodia has a potential to be a TV host. “Nakakatawa kasi she was offered na mag-host sa TV. Inaasar ko pa siya na, ‘Uy! Host na siya!’ She told me about the workshops that she had to go through. She was very nervous and tawa siya nang tawa sa mga ginagawa niya. I told her na, ‘Okay lang ‘yan!’”

Only when the unit of Direk Lauren Dyogi began planning for LOL did Luis and Alodia meet again in person. Luis further shared, “I got a call sa ABS-CBN for a screen test of me and another host. Wala akong idea kung sino ‘yung makakasama ko. Nakaupo ako sa labas ng office while waiting, then I saw Alodia with her mom. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Imposible! What a small world?!’ Lumapit ako sa kanya, she said na she will do a screen test. Then lumabas na si Direk Lauren.”

Luis is one of the most visible male TV hosts on ABS-CBN with shows that include ASAP XV, E-Live, Panahon Ko ‘To, and the new season of Pilipinas Got Talent next year. But with LOL, he said that viewers should watch out for his fresh chemistry with Alodia. “She’s very out-of-the-box, I mean she’s into cosplays. She would do anything and everything for it. It shows na she has a very different personality. Sana ma-translate ‘yun sa energy na mapapanood ng mga viewers namin sa LOL.”

Kara David of GMA7's Tweets Against TV Patrol Earn Flaks from Netizens

Kapuso broadcast journalist Kara David got bombarded with tweets criticizing her own Twitter posts that many deemed as a swipe against anchors from rival networks.

“News programs should be watched for the content and credibility of its news, not the looks and ‘sex appeal’ of its presenters,” Kara tweeted in the afternoon of Nov. 7.

A minute later, she added, “Bato-bato sa langit tamaan huwag magalit.”

Many could not believe that David, who is a recent recipient of the TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service) award, and the second of only two Filipinas to have received the prestigious Peabody Award, could post such comments, as seen on Twitter and local forum Pinoyexchange. Some branded her tweets “cheap,” her sentiments “bitter” or “threatened.”

“I respect Kara David being a Peobody awardee, until this afternoon in twitter,” said one.

"4 sum1 wrking n d media & being d daughter of randy david, i expected u to have at least phrased ur statemnt or chose better words,” wrote another.

“wag sayangin ang mga parangal sa mga opinyong dulot ng inggit ok? Inyong inyo ang kredibilidad nyo walang umaagaw!” posted another Twitter user.

Numerous netizens also supposed that she was referring to ABS-CBN’s “TV Patrol,” the rival show of GMA-7’s “24 Oras.” Some noticed how David’s tweet appeared to coincide with the changes in the lineup of “Patrol” with the return of Korina Sanchez and Noli De Castro on the program.

One user tweeted David, saying, “that’s why we watch tv patrol.. it is more credible..”

To which David responded: “I respect your opinion. Pero mas maraming intl and local awards ang 24oras. I think that speaks a lot.”

“u love 24ORAS AND that's perfectly fine. no question with that. but saying negatives about the other speaks so much about YOU,” posted another user.

While there were those who speculated that David’s tweets were about their industry rivals, others cautioned her to watch her words because it could offend her very own colleagues in GMA.

“I think @karadavid is insulting her colleagues too bad for them!” exclaimed one.

Another wondered: “how will you explain this to mel [tiangco] and mike [enriquez]? (anchors of ’24 Oras’) na wala kasi silang 'sex appeal'?”

Based on some of the posts of Twitter users and forum members, Kara deleted her tweets shortly. But her posts were saved for posterity through screenshots of her Twitter page posted on Pinoyexchange.com. Some, including her GMA News and Public Affairs colleague Tinna Panganiban-Perez, also re-tweeted her post.

On Spotlight: Rodjun Cruz of Juanita Banana

Matagal din ang paghihintay ng young actor Rodjun Cruz bago siya nabigyan ng pagkakataon na makapagbida sa isang TV show. Nangyari ito sa afternoon soap ng ABS-CBN na Juanita Banana, kung saan gumaganap siya bilang isa sa leading man ni Bianca Manalo; ang isa pang leading man ay si Matt Evans.

Without any hint of bitterness, sinabi ni Rodjun na masaya siya na finally ay nabigyan siya ng break ng kanyang home network. Simula raw kasi nang maging part siya ng Star Magic ay ngayon lang siya nakakuha ng magandang role.

Aniya, "Yung feeling ko po talaga ngayon, sobrang thankful po talaga ako na nabigyan po ako ng chance. First time po talaga simula nang mag-artista ako na nabigyan ako ng role na maganda at important.

"Kasi noong una, hindi ko naman ine-expect. I mean, gusto ko lang pong magkaroon ng trabaho. Ma-share ang talents ko sa mga tao, na nakakapagpasaya ako kapag nagpe-perform ako, kapag umaarte ako. Kahit kasama lang ako sa isang teleserye, kahit guesting-guesting lang.

"E, siyempre, sa trabaho naman po, kapag ganoon, baka magkailangan kaming dalawa. Maganda po, meron kaming yung relationship namin maganda at friends po talaga. Walang ilangan, trabaho lang talaga," saad niya.

RAYVER, TWO-TIMER? Kung si Rodjun ay tahasang nagsasabi na one-woman man siya, nasasaktan siya kapag pinaparatangan ang younger brother niyang si Rayver Cruz na "two-timer."

Iniintriga kasi si Rayver, 21, na pinagsabay raw nito sina sina Sarah Geronimo at Cristine Reyes.

"Siyempre, nao-offend ako," sabi ni Rodjun. "Kasi ako mismo, kilala ko yung kapatid ko.

"At saka alam ko kung gaano siya kabait na tao. Kung gaano siya kabait na kapatid sa pamilya niya. Kasi, lumaki kami nang sabay kaya nao-offend ako.

So, tahasan niyang sinasabi na hindi two-timer ang kapatid?

"Hindi, hindi siya naggano'n," mabilis na sagot ni Rodjun.

Dugtong pa niya, "Ang hirap kasi, ang mga tao naman... Siyempre, depende rin yun sa mga tao kung kanino sila maniniwala. Siyempre, wala na akong magagawa ro'n.

"Siyempre, yung iba naman maniniwala agad na si Rayver ganyan. Doon ka masasaktan. Kasi, hindi muna nila [pakinggan] ang panig ni Rayver."

Hindi ba niya pinapayuhan si Rayver?

"Ay, naku, kagaya ko yun! Mas mabait pa sa akin yun!" natatawang sabi ni Rodjun.

"Ang ina-advise ko lang sa kanya, 'Basta Bro, huwag kang magmadali. I-enjoy mo lang ang trabaho mo. Yung babae na para sa 'yo, magdasal ka lang at darating at darating yun.'"

Wala rin daw isyu kay Rodjun kung mas unang nabigyan ng pansin si Rayver kahit na siya ang mas matanda rito.

"Yun talaga ang bilin sa amin ng papa namin, na walang ganoon sa magkakapatid. At saka lumaki kami ni Rayver na sobrang close sa isa't isa.

"Kung ano ang achievement ng isa, sobrang suporta kami. Like ngayon, nagtatrabaho ako, nakasuporta siya palagi. Ganoon din ako sa kanya," sabi niya.

Sumakabilang-buhay ang ama nina Rodjun at Rayver na si Rudy Ilustre noong October 19, 2009 dahil sa kidney at lung failure.

Bianca Manalo Overwhelmed on Juanita Banana's Success

Masuwerte ang beauty queen turned actress na si Bianca Manalo dahil kahit baguhan pa lang siya sa larangan ng pag-arte, tinanggap na agad siya ng manonood sa kanyang kauna-unahang lead role sa afternoon series, ang Juanita Banana.

Consistent na mataas ang rating ng nasabing programa sa national ratings ng Kantar Media-TNS.

Ayon sa Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2009, hindi niya inasahan ang mga magagandang nangyayari sa showbiz career niya ngayon.

Dagdag niya, "Sobrang happy ko pong talaga. Sobrang saya ko. Kasi, kung natuwa sila kay Gigi sa Magkaribal, ngayon, mas malawak ang pagkakita nila sa character ko as Juanita. Sobrang saya ko kasi mainit ang pagtanggap nila knowing na first lead teleserye ko 'to.

"At the same time, maraming nagsasabi na, 'O, bakit nabigyan 'yan ng break?' Sobrang saya ko na kahit ano pa ang sabihin ng mga tao, okay lang. Sige, batikusin n'yo pa ako basta number one ang show ko!"

May balitang hindi pabor ang mommy niya na after niyang maging beauty queen ay ang pag-aartista naman ang papasukin niya. Totoo ba ito?

"Hindi naman po sa hindi siya pabor. Sabi niya lang, 'Seryoso ka ba riyan?' Kasi nga po, kapag artista, wala kang private life. Pero okey naman po. So far, okey naman po.

"Kaya yung mommy ko, alalay lang din po na kahit anong mangyari, stay grounded, huwag lalaki ang ulo. Yun lang din po ang palagi niyang sinasabi."

Pero gusto niya ba talagang pasukin ang showbiz o nagkataon lang ang pagpasok niya?

"Kasi po, noong reigning queen pa 'ko, nag-audition na po ako sa ABS. Pinatawag po ako ng isang unit para po dapat papasok akong love triangle sa Dahil May Isang Ikaw. Tapos, hindi na po natuloy.

"After no'n, February, kinontak ako ng TC [talent coordinator] ng Magkaribal. Tinanong po ako kung available po ba ako ng summer para raw sa Bea [Alonzo] soap. Tapos sabi ko, 'Available po ako.'

"Tapos yun, noong lumipat na po ako ng manager, hindi na po ako nag-Binibini, nag-Joji Dingcong na po ako. Nag-Showtime muna ako and then, do'n ako mas napansin ni Direk Nuel Naval, which is director namin sa Magkaribal. Mas lalong na-push yung role ko.

"So, do'n na po nag-start kaya nakuha po ako sa Magkaribal."

Dahil sa naging tagumpay sa rating ng Juanita Banana, naikukumpara ngayon si Bianca sa ibang Kapamilya stars. May nai-insecure na nga raw sa kanya dahil tila tutok ngayon ang Kapamilya network sa kanya.

Pero ayon kay Bianca, "Wala naman akong nararamdamang ganoon. Sa akin, ang feeling ko, blessed lang ako. Siguro natuwa lang sila sa akin bilang Gigi sa Magkaribal. Tapos dito sa Juanita Banana, I'm very happy na nabigyan ako ng break.

"Kami po sa family," patuloy niya, "mga professional lahat. Like yung panganay namin, she's also a beauty queen, pero meron siyang parang personality development.

"Yung sister ko nga po, dito, off-cam. Ako naman, on-cam. Yung bunso ko namang kapatid, nagdo-doctor.

"So, lahat kami, professional ang gusto namin kung magtrabaho. Hindi yung pamilya, pamilya. Kapag trabaho, trabaho, hindi yung damay-damay lahat."

Isa pang isyu, si Maja Salvador daw talaga ang original choice upang gumanap bilang Juanita Banana. Ano ang masasabi niya rito?

"Hindi ko po alam 'yan....hindi ko po alam. Ngayon ko lang po nalaman. Wala...anong sasabihin ko?" nagtatakang sabi ni Bianca.

"Basta ang alam ko, sabi ng handler ko, 'Gusto ka nila for lead role, pinapatawag ka.' So, nagpunta po ako.

"'O sige, basahin mo itong script na ito. Very Bianca, very Gigi.' So, ginawa ko ang 'very Bianca, very Gigi' na sinasabi nila.

"Tapos, sabi, 'Titingnan ka naman namin sa drama side.' Tapos, sabi ni Direk Henry, 'Iyak!' So, ano pong iisipin ko? Naalala ko po si Melody."

Ang tinutukoy ni Bianca ay si Melody Gersbach, ang Bb. Pilipinas-International 2009 na namatay sa isang aksidente noong August.

"Tapos, sabi niya, 'Kailan kayo huling nag-usap ni Melody?' Hanggang sa umiyak na ako nang umiyak. Tapos yun na, drama-drama! Hanggang eventually, nalaman ko na I got the part. Siyempre, masaya ako."

Definitely, bilib daw si Bianca kay Maja at napapanood daw niya ang ilan sa mga naging shows nito. Yun nga lang, management naman daw ang nagdedesisyon kung sino ang ilalagay sa isang show.

"Naniniwala po ako na hindi po ako ang makakapagdesisyon no'n, management po. Okey lang po, kahit ano pa po ang sabihin nila, kung ano na lang po ang ibigay sa akin, tatanggapin ko na lang po, gagampanan kong mabuti ang trabaho ko."

In real life, comedian daw talaga si Bianca.

"Noong beauty queen pa lang po ako, kapag ini-interview ako, ganito na akong magsalita. Kaya parang sila, 'Ay, beauty queen ka bang talaga?' Hindi ako yung typical beauty queen.

"Tapos, kinuha pa ako sa Showtime na nagwala-wala ako ro'n, pinata-tumbling-tumbling ako...ginagawa ko lahat.

"Tanungin mo family ko, friends that I go out with, sasabihin nila sa 'yo, 'Si Bianca talaga yun, hindi siya umaarte.'"

Pagdating naman sa kanyang love life, sinabi niyang wala siyang boyfriend at wala rin nanliligaw sa kanya.

"Wala...totoo talaga! Totoo talaga 'yan!" natatawa niyang sabi. "I go out with friends, gano'n. Marami akong male friends, so okey lang kahit wala ako."

Kailan yung last serious relationship niya?

"Hindi kasi dyowa. Nagdi-date lang kami, yung alam mong may understanding."

Hindi pa ba siya nagkakaroon ng boyfriend?

Nanlaki ang mata nito nang natatawa, sabay sabi ng: "Yuck! High school? My God! Will you consider that?"

But is she dating?

Ano ba ang gusto niya sa isang guy?

"Basta ba kaya niya akong buhayin. Ipaglalaban niya ako, okay lang. Ang totoo talaga, ang gusto ko kasi, yung para akong prinsesa!" natawa niyang sabi.

Pero habol niya, "Hindi naman kailangang mayamang-mayaman. Basta kaya niya akong buhayin at bantayan."

Gerald Anderson Returns from London Tour to Face Various Issues

Kahapon, November 9, bandang 4:30 ng hapon ay dumating na mula London sina Gerald at Bea. Dahil sa balitang breakup nila ay maraming taga-media ang nag-abang sa kanila sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport upang hingan ng pahayag tungkol sa iba't ibang issues.

Si Gerald ang nagpaunlak ng interview bagamat panay ang lakad niya habang kinakausap siya ng press at hindi naging malinaw ang kanyang maikling sagot.

"Hindi ko rin alam, e. Kasi, maraming issues ngayon. Sa dami, e, hindi ko na alam isasagot ko doon!" natatawa niyang sabi.

Sinagot naman ni Gerald ang hot-car issue. Ayon sa lumabas na report sa TV Patrol noong nakaraang linggo, pinaghihinalaang hot car (nakaw na sasakyan) ng mga awtoridad ang pag-aaring Hummer ni Gerald.

Nagsimula ito nang nahuli ng traffic enforcers ang driver ni Gerald na si Noel dela Cruz sa kahabaan ng Timog Avenue noong Oktubre 23 dahil wala itong validating sticker. Bagamat naglabas ng papeles ang driver ay may nakita raw inconsistencies ang mga pulis kaya't in-impound nila ito.

"Iyon na nga, kararating ko lang, so wala pang full details. Baka mamaya," sabi ni Gerald nang tanungin tungkol dito.

Pupunta ba siya sa pulisya para asikasuhin ang problema sa kanyang sasakyan?

"Oo naman, kotse ko 'yon, e!" natatawang sagot ni Gerald.

Nang tanungin kung nasorpresa siya sa nangyari sa kanyang sasakyan, sabi niya, "High-end na car din 'yon, e, so medyo mainit din sa mata. Baka sa check up, so tingnan natin mamaya... Well, it's a high-end car and talagang normal lang 'yan."
