PBB's James, Bret and Ivan Named Their Dream Leading Ladies

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 ex-housemates James Reid, Bret Jackson, and Ivan Dorschner will soon begin their work on the upcoming youth-oriented drama Good Vibes. James and Ivan will be acting in the drama which is top-billed by Sam Concepcion, Arron Villaflor, and Enrique Gil. Meanwhile, Bret will soon record the theme song of Good Vibes, also called GV.

In a recent interview with PUSH.com.ph, the three young lads said they look forward to more projects at ABS-CBN. The three however blushed when asked who among the current Kapamilya female stars they dream of being paired with. Teen Clash Big Winner James admitted that he has a big crush on the first Teen Big Winner, Kim Chiu. “I like Kim Chiu. She’s really hot, ha ha ha! I’ve seen her, but I only said ‘hi’ to her.”

Bret, an American who has been living in the Philippines for seven years now, confessed he’s a fan of Erich Gonzales’s beauty and talent. “I like Erich now. When I saw her picture, she’s very pretty. I watch her shows and she’s a really good actress. Also from what I hear she has a great personality.”

Bret added that he looks forward to meeting Erich. He clarified though that he is not out to steal Erich from ka-love team Enchong Dee. “Enchong is my friend and I joked with him about Erich. He’s okay with it.”

Ivan seemed to be the most controversial among the three because of his admiration for Sarah Geronimo. “It would be nice to work with Sarah Geronimo. Not just nice, but fantastic. She seems like a well-rounded person.”

Ivan was spotted visiting Sarah at a recent premiere night and even giving flowers to the Pop Star Princess. The Fil-American cutie struggled for words when asked if he has plans of courting Sarah. “That was the first time I gave flowers to a girl. She said ‘Thank you.’ I’m just really interested in meeting her. I want to get to know her first, ha ha ha!”

Emmanuelle Vera Recounts Working in Idol

Emmanuel Vera made her acting debut via the recently concluded teleserye Idol that starred Sarah Geronimo, Coco Martin, and Sam Milby. Emmanuel portrayed the role of Dianne, the kontrabida who competed with Sarah’s characters, Billie and Jean.

Although a neophyte, the aspiring actress-singer became an effective kontrabida and said that she owes it to character actress Malou de Guzman. “I was scared at first but she would encourage me and tell me this is how you should get diskarte and it really helped me a lot,” she said.

The 15-year-old lass explained that playing a kontrabida was quite difficult, notwithstanding that it was her first acting stint, so she is grateful that their director who never gave up on her. “I couldn’t do it right at ‘yung unang eksena ko po 26 takes pero the director never gave up kahit sobrang pangit ng acting ko. After a while you get comfortable na rin you have to force yourself to break out from your shell.”

She described her acting experience as nerve-wracking because of the fact that Sarah is her biggest idol. “It was crazy, my heart would beat so fast every time we have a scene pero they were so kind they, made us feel na parang magka-level po kami. Hindi po sila celebrities. They tried to make us feel na hindi kami baguhan, that we are friends and I appreciate that it creates a good atmosphere.”

Though it was a short stint, Emmanuelle is still grateful for the acting opportunity and the fact that more people recognize her now. She added that she is now gearing up for the launch of her debut album.

Meet the Youngest Loveteam in Town!

At a recent press con for Noah, Zaijian Jaranilla acknowledged the fact that he and fellow child star Xyriel Manabat are now considered the youngest love team in the country to date. Their tandem instantly captivated the hearts of the Kapamilya viewers as their adventures and misadventures added a playful element to the top-rating teleserye. Although they sometimes engage in the typical kiddie quarrels on the set, Zaijian was very happy to have Xyriel to play with on and off cam. “Hindi pa po kami artista magkaibigan na po kaming dalawa. Kaya mas close na po kami ngayon. Mahilig po kami maglaro ng taguan o kaya naglalaro lang kami ng Plants vs. Zombies,” he cheerfully began.

Among all the popular love teams in the biz, Zaijian shared that he would like to emulate that of Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales. “Basta gusto ko lang po sila and napapanood ko sila sa Magkaribal pa minsan. Okay lang po [sa akin kung maging love team kami ni Xyriel]. Masaya po yun. Opo, love ko naman siya.” But the 9-year-old was quick to clarify that they are just good friends. Zaijan also claimed that he got over his attraction towards sexy star Cristine Reyes, but he refused to reveal his celebrity crush at the moment. “Bawal ko po sabihin. Secret. Kaming tatlo lang nila Xyriel at Miguel (de Guzman) ang nakakaalam kung sino ang crush namin,” he added, much to the local press’s amusement.

Zaijan said that being on the set of Noah is fun because he really gets along with his co-stars like Piolo Pascual and Jodi Sta. Maria. “Si kuya Piolo mapagmahal, mabait, gwapo at macho katulad ko. Masaya po kami palagi kapag kasama ko siya sa set, lagi niya akong kinikiliti at binibigyan ng chocolates. Ganon din po si ate Jodi, inaalagaan niya rin po ako.” Asked if there are any other Kapamilya stars that he would like to work with in the future, Zaijan remarked that he already worked with a lot of big stars during his stint in May Bukas Pa. “Pero si kuya John Lloyd Cruz hindi ko pa nakakatrabaho. Gusto ko din po siyang makatrabaho,” he stated.

Derek Ramsay's Hint About the Fate of His Character on Magkaribal

Everyone knows Derek Ramsay is an in-demand endorser, actor, and multi-athlete. But nowadays, the Fil-British hunk is recognized best for his role in Magkaribal as Louie Villamor, the mixed-martial arts enthusiast and model that falls for both the characters played by Bea Alonzo and Gretchen Barretto in the series. As Magkaribal comes to an end on November 5, Push.com.ph caught up with Derek and discovered what he had to say about the finale. “I found out the other day what the ending was and for me, I think it has to end that way. For me, parang this is where the people will feel pity for Louie, because if you think about it, he got someone pregnant who’s going to get married, and if that’s the only thing you know about Louie, you’ll think he’s an asshole, but here you’re going to see what he does because of the true love that he has for this person. The ending will definitely show that,” he shared.

Derek also said he considers his character to be even stronger than he is. “If I was Louie, I don’t think I’d survive, with all of the stuff he’s going through. The mixed emotions and the physical pain. I think, as Derek, I would’ve given up. But I’ve fallen in love with my character. He’s very emotional, just like I am. And plus ‘di ba I was able to play a role where I was a bit of a bad ass, a UFC fighter. But I thought that was what was going to be the challenge, but I think this is the most emotional character I’ve ever played of all the soaps I’ve done,” he admitted.

The Magkaribal actor, who is currently wrapping up shooting for the movie Corazon, admitted he has mixed emotions about moving on to different projects by next month. “Mixed emotions talaga. I’m sad na matatapos na and happy na sinu-suportahan kami ng marami. Happy na yung quality ng work namin is getting better pero at the same time I’m also excited dahil lahat makakapagpahinga. Kasi everyday kami nagte-taping so that the quality of our work does not go down. We don’t want to disappoint our viewers and those that support us. We want to maintain the work that we’ve done. So I have mixed emotions that the show has been extended, but ‘di pa siya tapos kaya happy pa kami,” he said.

Derek also admitted that he is excited for the last few episodes that they have to offer. “It’s going to get better and better. I think there’ll be a variety of responses when it comes to how it’s going to end. I think some people might not like it. But from all the work that we’re doing right now, for all the viewers, the show is getting better and better. The quality is definitely not going down and I can promise you that we’re not going to disappoint so sana suportahan all the way to the end and you’ll definitely see a lot more fashion because we kind of drifted away from that a bit but since the end is coming close, todo na you’ll see the URCC again, you’ll see the fashion side again and of course, hindi natin puwede maiwasan yung drama,” he said.

Gretchen Barretto's Advice to Bea Alonzo

Gretchen Barretto seemed to be aware of the controversies linking Bea Alonzo to Gerald Anderson because she was really protective of the young actress when some of the ABS-CBN reporters visited the set of Magkaribal last week. The actress admitted that she has advised Bea to be more careful when dealing with matters of the heart. “Sabi ko sa kanya you have to love yourself. Kasi si Bea loving and nagsa-sacrifice niya sarili niya and I want her to love herself more than anyone else. Sabi ko save for yourself. Pero kung naging shoulder to cry on niya ba ako? So far wala pa namang ganon. Lahat naman kinakaya,” Gretchen said in an interview with Push.com.ph.

Gretchen also encouraged Bea to widen her horizons especially when they go their separate ways after Magkaribal. As it is, Bea can be reserved at times and is often busy with work to the point that she forgets to have fun as well. “Well not just love, but I guess life in itself nagtuturuan kami, nagtutulungan kami. Any advice that we can give each other binibigay namin. Ang parati ko sinasabi sa kanya lalo na ngayon last taping namin, ‘Bebe ‘di tayo palaging magkasama. So you’re going to work iba na mga kasama. Isipin mo parati, you only one have life to live and you have to live your life to the fullest.”

At the same time, Gretchen shared that she has also learned a lot from Bea in the past few months that they’ve worked together. “Natutunan ko sa kanya yung makisama sa tao at yung mahalin yung industriya na ito. Nakita ko kung gaano niya kamahal ang industriya at ang trabaho niya at hindi siya nagrereklamo. Pero nagrereklamo pa rin ako kasi pag 2 am na gusto ko na mag-cut off na kasi gusto ko matulog. Siya kahit 5 am na hindi ’yan magrereklamo kahit kulang sa tulog.”

Gary Valenciano as a Loyal Kapamilya

Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano revealed in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph how grateful he is to ABS-CBN. He said one of the most important values of his decades in showbiz is loyalty to home network. "ABS-CBN, the history I have with this particular station is so precious to me. I see myself staying loyal to this network and to the friends that I have here because by doing so, by being sensitive to that magiging sensitive din kami sa mga kailangan ng taong bayan. I need to be able to establish that even more. And it does not happen overnight but in a snap you can burn bridges right away," Gary said.

Gary has never been involved in rumors of network transfers. He revealed how careful he is to avoid those kinds of issues. "Even with the product endorsements that I have, I am like that. It would take years before I could think of moving on. It's just something that I think I need to keep myself aware of because at this point in time, there is so much happening and I think I am already in a place that can reach so many people."

He further revealed that there have been instances which disappointed him in the past. "There are things that happened in the past, in my personal life where there are people who get you [for a project] and they believe in you so much so they ask you to become part of something and then you become part of it. And then you see the success of that and then biglang after a few months, after all the contracts have been sealed, biglang may lalapit sa 'yo and will tell you that they know what [and how much] you got from the project. For me kasi I am not after the material things that I get but I am more on the relationships that have established."

He is open though to working with artists from different networks, especially if the project is for good cause. "I am will be a part of events in collaboration with other artistas, but if I go, I will represent where I came from, not looking down on everybody, not try to tell them that I am above them, but since we are all here, let's all work together. After all, when you say Kapamilya, it's a deep and heavy responsibility you should play not only to the people you work within the studios but the whole society as well."

He added that he is already with the best and he will not settle for anything less. Aside from being in a network where he can maximize his artistry, it also helps him to to reach out less-fortunate Filipinos. "I am seen all over the world, naiisip ko kung ano pang iba kong pwedeng magawa not just an artist in ASAP, but as a person that can encourage people by becoming part of ABS-CBN's causes.”

Standing Ovation for Charice on David Foster's Concert in Manila

International singing sensation Charice received several standing ovations from her fellow Filipinos during the highly successful “David Foster and Friends Live in Manila” concert on Saturday.

“Binigyan ako ng standing ovation sa buong performance, sa lahat-lahat ng kinanta ko last night, sobrang kakaiba ‘yong feeling,” Charice told ABS-CBN News in an interview on Sunday.

More than 10,000 fans trooped to the Araneta Coliseum to witness the once-in-a-lifetime performance of the Filipino singer together with international stars Natalie Cole, the Canadian Tenors, Peter Cetera, and American Idol’s Ruben Studdard.

The YouTube sensation wowed the crowd after rendering powerful and pitch-perfect Celine Dion’s “Power of Love," “To Love You More,” and “All by Myself.”

Charice also performed her chart-topping song “Pyramid.” She also sang songs from the movie “The Bodyguard” where she was most applauded.

“Thank you so much sa lahat ng Filipinos na pumunta. Sobrang successful noong concert at super na-amaze si Sir David sa crowd,” said Charice.

“Journey” lead singer Arnel Pineda, Randy Santiago and Pilita Corrales were reportedly spotted in the audience.

According to an article posted in her fan site, Foster even invited Pineda to sing on stage. Santiago and Corrales were also given a chance by Foster to perform for half a minute.

Cetera sang "You're the Inspiration," "If You Leave Me Now," and "Glory of Love." Cole performed "Hallelujah" and "The Prayer," while Studdard sang "I Swear."

Legendary songwriter Foster, meantime, expressed his awe for the remarkable support of Filipino fans, making his concert a major sold-out.

The Candian musician described his Manila experience as fantastic and memorable, giving it a highest rating of 10.

“I had the great time, it’s fantastic. In the scale of 1-10, it’s 10,” said Foster.

“David Foster and Friends” Asian tour will next invade Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore from October 25 to 30.

Foster, meantime, announced that he is coming back to Manila next year to search for more talented Filipinos.

After her solo concert last year, Charice is taking her career to another level as she is set to embark on her first Asian tour next year.

“Sa Chasters, sa lahat, thank so much for all the support. I guess, see you next year because I’m going to have my own tour. Siyempre, hindi puwedeng mawala ang Philippines sa Asian tour,” she said.

The 18-year old diva is set to celebrate her Christmas in Hong Kong, and will immediately fly back to the United States to shoot hit musical TV series, “Glee.”

Although she did not give more details, Charice assured her fans that she will be frequently seen on “Glee.” She also asked her fans to watch the show's entire season.

“Hindi pa pwedeng pag-usapan. Just watch the whole season but definitely, I’m going to be there,” said Charice
