ANC New Station ID

A new station ID and on-air look will greet viewers of ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel on September 6, 2010 to mark the award-winning station’s unwavering commitment to deliver news to Filipinos wherever they are and amid fast changes in media.

With information dissemination so much easier and faster today and with citizens able to report on their surroundings, ANC Chief Operating Officer Glenda M. Gloria said it is integral to have a news organization focused on making sense out of all the clutter in the media.

“As a news channel, we’d like to be able to connect the dots for our viewers so they could make informed choices and decisions,” she said.

Gloria said the Rotary Club of Manila Journalism Awards TV News Station of the Year has been able to do this without sacrificing the standards and values that brought ANC to where it is now: integrity, perspective, and respect.

Viewers can expect the blue rhombus logo to remain as the key design element in ANC’s new look, which conveys the channel’s glossy, substantive, and engaging nature, according to Gloria.

ANC’s sleek and edgy new ID, meanwhile, depicts how the nature of newsgathering has changed due to technology and citizen empowerment. It shows how information captured by an ordinary individual and shared to ABS-CBN can become a news story reported by our reporters on the scene and anchors on the air.

Idol Bibida Na Ngayong Lunes!

ABS-CBN’s upcoming musical teleserye is set to shine in Primetime Bida.

ABS-CBN has perfectly combined all these factors in one teleserye. “Idol”, the newest and coolest teleserye in primetime that will surely make your nights as spectacular as ever, starting September 6.

A series filled with hopes and dreams, Idol revolves around the story of a girl named Billie played by Sarah Geronimo who will reach the peak of stardom as a famous singer. However, because of a whopping family debt, she will be forced to set aside her fame while hiding her true identity and living a simple life as Jean. She will also be torn between two handsome hotties, Sam Milby as Vince and Coco Martin as Lando, who will eventually fall in love with her.

After years of solely focusing on her singing career, Pop princess Sarah Geronimo ventures once again to acting as she is set to penetrate Kapamilya’s Primetime night teamed up with two of the sought after leading man, Acoustic heartthrob, Sam Milby and Prince of Indie films, Coco Martin. The oozing chemistry between the pairs is yet to be seen on screen which makes it more exciting. Rico Blanco on Imortal

After 15 years of being a singer-musician, Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco is making a career move as he tries acting for television.

This time, Blanco will be working for Kapamilya's upcoming series "Imortal" with Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz as the lead stars.

"This is my first time to do acting for TV. I think it's different," said Blanco.

"I play Lucas. I'm sort of like bestfriend and brother ni Matteo (Cruz)," the singer said.

Even if he is more established in the music scene, Blanco is not new to acting since he already tried doing stage plays.

Blanco starred alongside Noel Cabangon and Joey Ayala in the Music Museum and 70s Bistro production of "Jesus Christ Superstar."

He was also part of Epy Quizon and Christopher de Leon's independent film "Nasaan si Francis."

Though the singer is now spending his time in acting, he vowed that he won't turn his back to writing original Pinoy music.

Blanco was the man behind the hits "Liwanag sa Dilim," "Umaaraw, Umuulan," "Elesi" and "Kisapmata."

Ai-Ai delas Alas on Her 20th Anniversary Concert

Ai-ai de las Alas is about to mark her 20th year in showbiz with a major concert entitled Ai am 20 set to be staged in November. The star, dubbed as the Comedy Concert Queen, said this event is dedicated to all her fans and supporters who made the past 20 years filled with fun and success. “Sabi nila madali naman talaga ang maka-angat sa showbiz. Ang mahirap ay ma-sustain at ma-maintain ang kung ano ang mayroon ka, ang pangalan mo. Masaya ako kasi hanggang ngayon, ang mga tao ay sinusuportahan pa din ako. Maraming salamat po.”

Known for her flair for comic musical performances, Ai-ai will showcase in Ai am 20 her impersonations of the concert scene's reigning kings and queens here and abroad. "This is my 20th anniversary in showbiz. Ito ay magha-highlight sa lahat ng royalty ng showbiz. Lahat ng reyna at hari ng concert at pati ang mga icon na performers sa Hollywood 'yun din ang ipe-perform ko.”

Ai-ai further shared that her good friend Sharon Cuneta has confirmed that she will be a part of this concert. The comedienne and the Megastar worked together on the 2009 box-office comedy film BFF.

Angelica Panganiban's Camp Demand for Retraction from Claudine Barretto

Angelica Panganiban and Claudine Barretto’s word war on social networking site Twitter might just become a legal one. Star Magic has confirmed that they have given the former Kapamilya star a final demand letter to detract her accusations against Angelica or else face its legal consequences.

Through Antonio and Associates, Angelica’s camp answered Claudine’s accusations which she posted on her Twitter account that the Rubi star was spreading rumors that she’s having an affair with Martin Castro. Martin is supposedly a very close friend of Derek Ramsay, Angelica’s boyfriend.

Aside from the twitter posts and her interviews with other networks regarding the issue, the letter also detailed the Claudine’s phone conversation with Angelica wherein she threatened the latter with the words “Wawasakin ko ang mukha mo,” and even challenged her to a brawl. According to Angelica’s lawyer Atty. Joji Antonio it is clearly a grave threat towards the young actress. Claudine is given seven days to retract her statements. TV Patrol World tried to get Claudine’s side but has not yet responded as of this report.

A source in Angelica’s camp revealed though that Angelica has recently hired a body guard for her safety.

Direk Ruel Bayani on 1dol

Bibida na sa Kapamilya network this September 6 ang seryeng Idol kung saan bida ang sikat na sikat na singer-actress na si Sarah Geronimo kasama sina Sam Milby at Coco Martin. Sa set visit for the press last week ay nakausap ng ABS-CBN.com ang magaling na movie and television director na si Ruel Bayani. Nangako si Direk Ruel na punong-puno ng buhay at awit na magbibigay ng tunog sa inyong primetime viewing. “Sa trailer pa lang ay nakikita naman nating napakaraming dapat abangan sa Idol.Yung mga pinagsama-samang elemento ng romantic-comedy, musical at family drama, hinalo 'yan,pinasarap, niluto at tinimplahan ng mas makabagong flavors kasi nga ang musicals noong araw ay meron na niyan at sa bawat pagbihis natin ay nilalagyan natin ng mas magandang kulay ang serye para masabi natin na it's current na magugustuhan ng ating mga manonood talaga.”

All praises din ang director sa kanyang cast. “This time, si Sarah Geronimo bilang the lead, our protagonist ay masasabi nating ang Idol ay very young, very current at very hip 'yung show kasi may effort to assemble a fresh casts na magagaling na at mga baguhang ngayon palang magkakaroon ng chance na mag-perform at makita sa television,so, I guess 'yung dynamic na 'yun, kapag pinagsama-sama 'yun na itong mga baguhang ito ay makikita natin kung papano makikisabay kina Sarah, Sam at Coco, kina Zsa Zsa (Padilla) at Agot (Isidro). Maganda ring abangan na sa programang ito ay makakapanood ka ng musical numbers araw-araw na nandoon pa rin 'yung love story, family drama na swak na swak talaga sa ating generation ngayon that we have to admit na forte naman talaga ito ng ABS (CBN), sa ABS naman talaga natin mapapanood ang mga naglalakihang soap operas and everything,” mahabang pagkukuwento pa sa amin ni Direk Ruel Bayani na sobrang excited na rin sa airing nitong Idol.

Naniniwala rin ba si Direk Ruel na si Sarah nga ang perfect choice talaga to lead sa seryeng Idol? Wala ba silang naging ibang contender for Sarah's role? “Sarah was the best and perfect choice for this serye. Kasi nga, aminin natin she's very young, fresh, wala namang duda na siya 'yung young superstar ngayon na perfect na mag-top bill sa ganito kalaking proyekto ng ABS, kasama ng pagiging interesting at talented at pagiging versatile performer ni Sarah like yung husay niya sa pagpapakilig,husay niya sa pagpapaiyak at dito siguro ay mapagsama-sama 'yun at hindi lang 'yung mga fans ni Sarah 'yung magi-enjoy na manood nitong Idol.Wala kaming naging second choice and to make it clear lang, nung inilatag sa amin ang project na ito, meant for Sarah na talaga itong Idol at hinintay namin si Sarah kung kelan siya naging available ay saka na kami nag-rolling for Idol kasi alam naman nating napakasipag niyang bata, ang dami niyang work schedules na kailangang habulin natin ang kanyang schedules,” explained Direk Ruel.

Ano naman ang reaction ni Direk Ruel sa isyung pagkukumpara nitong seryeng Idol sa sikat na sikat rin ngayong US series na Glee? “Ah, hindi maiiwasan kasi ang Glee naman din ay inspired sa long history ng mga TV musicals, film musicals. Ang ABS naman ay hindi lang naman sa unang beses nag-venture sa ganito. Kaya nga kapag tinatanong kami, sabi namin, years ago pa ay nag-i-expirement na ng ganito and one of the best expirements natin ay 'yung Kampanerang Kuba by my good friend direk Wenn Daramas. So I think perfect na sa ABS ang genre na 'yan dahil kelan pa 'yung Kampanerang Kuba, ‘di ba, kaya ngayong 2010 ay minabuti naming sundan ito at pinagbubutihan namin talaga sa production to the best that we can para itong Idol ay maging maganda at kakaiba naman sa panlasa talaga ng ating mga manonood,” depensa pa ni Direk Ruel.
