FHM Philippines’ Sexiest Woman of 2009–Cristine Reyes–is featured in FHM Germany Spring 2010 issue.

The FHM Germany feature on Cristine Reyes is entitled “Erst Rechts Gucken” (Only the Right Look) with description saying “Daran solltest du dich nicht im StraBenhverkehr halten, sondern nur, wenn es die philippinische Schauspielerin Cristine Reyes zu sehen gibt” (Because you should not hold in StraBenhverkehr, but only if there is to see the Philippine actress Cristine Reyes).

She placed second in the 2010 poll of FHM Philippines 100 Sexiest Women which is topped, this time, by Angel Locsin.

Cristine is prepping up for her upcoming primetime series on ABS-CBN entitled “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine” which is about to premiere this Monday night.

Vincent Bueno on ASAP XV

Another world class Filipino performer was featured on ASAP XV.

Reality show product Vincent Bueno performed on ASAP XV. He is a Filippino born in Vienna, Austria. On January 12, 2008, he became winner of the ORF programme "Musical! Die Show" (Musical! The Show), an Austrian television musical contest. Vincent defeated Eva Klikovics and Gudrun Ihninger of 10 contestants / finalists, and earned the top prize of 50,000 EUR (3 million PHP). He first performed "Grease Lightning" (from musical Grease), and then, "Music of the Night" (from Phantom of the Opera). Vincent got 67% of televotes (landslide victory) from televiewers in Austria and nearby countries.

Miss Universe 2010 Kicks Off in the Sin City

The countdown for Miss Universe 2010 officially began in Las Vegas last August 12, as 83 women from all over the world posed Wednesday morning for a photo-op at the famous sign welcoming visitors to this city.
Miss Philippines Venus Raj stood tall as she posed in her swimsuit with the other contestants.
After overcoming the challenges in the past, Raj said she is more confident about representing her country.
Raj said she felt like she never left home because of kababayans who welcome her at every turn from California to Nevada.
“Amazing! This city is in the middle of a desert, it’s wonderful! Actually, ang dami-dami pong Pilipino dito. Hindi ako makapaniwala na ganun kaganda ang pag tanggap nila. Actually, inside the hotel ang dami-daming Pilipino, it’s amazing,” exclaimed Raj.
She added, “mas nakaka-boost ng confidence level kung mas nakikita mong maraming Pilipino.”
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman could not be more delighted to host this year’s Miss Universe competition.
Goodman called on the Filipino community to support the pageant.
“Every Filipino in the world is watching in here, and first of all we have a great Filipino population here in Las Vegas. It’s very important to us, they are hard working folks who really are part of the fabric of our community and as a generality, I think Filipinos love beautiful women too don’t they?” Goodman said.

The Miss Universe pageant will air via satellite on ABS-CBN on Aug. 24, 9:30 a.m. with a primetime telecast the same day on Studio 23 at 7:10 p.m. and on Velvet at 6:30 p.m. The network is airing Miss Universe for the fourth consecutive year which makes the Kapamilya network the home of Miss Universe in the Philippines. ABS-CBN senior sports correspondent Dyan Castillejo will follow Venus in her journey and report pageant highlights via TV Patrol and Bandila.

K Magazine August Issue

Kris Aquino talks about the endings and beginnings in her life in the latest issue of K The Kris Aquino Magazine or KMag. She talks about the difficult decisions that she had to make, such as ending her marriage to James Yap, but still coming out triumphant. “So many changes, so many challenges, but my resolve is firm,” Kris writes. “I have grown up and I will continue to mature. I have become more responsible and I will continue to be resourceful, diligent, and prudent.” Kris relates that she may not be a wife at this point in her life, but she continues to pray that God will help her become the best mother to her two sons, Baby James and Joshua.

The actress-host also talks about her sad farewell to The Buzz after a decade of hosting the show opposite Boy Abunda.

On a positive note, the Queen of All Media still feels fortunate that she said goodbye to her shows at the prime of her career. “Few are given the opportunity to go while their show is on top and while you’re still a prized possession of the network. This is what Mom wanted,” Kris says.

Though she resigned from her old shows, Kris is still very much active, what with her multiple endorsements, her TV commercials, her new show Pilipinas Win na Win, and her duties as presidential sister. People are curious about the part Kris will assume since her brother Noynoy Aquino now holds the highest position in the country. “Nothing, because I wasn’t the one who was elected, ‘di ba?” Kris replied in one of her endorsement gigs. “Parang I think, it’s a bonus to the Philippines that we are all working, productive citizens so hindi kami magiging pabigat sa ating mga nagbabayad ng buwis. I’ll continue doing my job and I’ll continue trying to be a worthwhile citizen.”

Denise Laurel, Certified Kapamilya

Denise Laurel happily shared that she’s now a certified Kapamilya after signing a contract with ABS-CBN last August 12. She really considers it a huge blessing, which is why she couldn’t stop giving a small prayer of thanks every now and then. “This is where I was discovered. This is where I've started my shows when I was like 11 years old. So I am happy until now they still work with me. Ang sarap ng pakiramdam knowing that they’re giving me more challenges and they trust me now. Nakikita naman siguro nila yung hard work ko and ni-reassure naman nila ako that they will help me grow as an artist by giving me more shows to work on,” she began.

But aside from the fact that she will be having her very own teleserye soon, the young actress was also ecstatic because of her growing number of admirers—one of which is an R&B singer. “No, I don’t have a love life yet. But of course there are some people that are around. For the first time feeling ko dalaga ako. Mga two to three sila. You could say that they’re from showbiz, something to that effect. But you know, it’s weird for me because I am not used to guys making me ligaw. I don’t know why. I think they're scared of me. Hindi nila ako nilalapitan kahit naka-smile ako parati.”

When prodded about the names of her suitors, Denise explained that she would rather keep it to herself first until she’s certain about their intentions. “I try not to bank on one first. Hinihintay ko muna makita lahat ng true colors nila. We will see. When I’m sure na I’ll tell you guys.” She further shared that it helps to have lots of male relatives who taught her how to deal with her admirers. “I just tell them not to put their best foot forward, to be my friend first, so I know how they really are. I have two brothers and most of my cousins are guys so medyo alam ko na kung paano mag the moves at mag-isip ang mga lalake. Alam ko na lahat yun so ‘di na gagana sa akin,” she exclaimed with a laugh.

Is her on screen partner Rafael Rosell one of her suitors then? “Ask ni’yo na lang siya. It’s weird to come from a girl. Being a lady, it should come from the guy if they're going for me or nanliligaw sila.”

Angel Aquino on Gretchen Barretto's Professionalism

Totoo nga ba na tumanggi si Gret­chen Barretto na magpasampal kay Angel Aquino sa isang eksena nila sa Magkaribal? Sabi-sabi na dapat ay bonggang-bonggang sasampalin ni Angel si Gretchen sa isang eksena ng kumprontasyon nila, pero tumanggi raw si Gret­chen?

“Hindi! Ako tala­ga ang nagsabi sa kanya na kung kaya niyang salagin ang sampal ko, gawin niya. Ang gagawin ko, bubuwelo na lang ako, para at least, hindi naman isi­pin ng mga tao na in-anticipate niya talaga ang sampal ko.

“Kumbaga, kung makikita niya na bubuwelo ako, sasampalin ko siya. Kasi, ma­bigat talaga ang kamay ko. Mabigat talaga. Baka masira ang kanyang jaw,” bungad na kuwento ni Angel.

Pero, bakit kailangang harangin ang sampal? Bakit hindi sila tumulad sa mga eksena noon nina Lorna Tolentino at Chin-Chin Gutierrez na tunay ang sampalan?

“Actually, she was ready for the slap. Sabi niya, I want it to be real. Pero sabi ko sa kanya, nakikita mo ba ‘yan (kamay ni Angel), ‘yan ang lalapat sa iyo. Masakit `yan.

“Ako kasi, I can’t fake a slap, eh. Hindi ko kaya na dito lang (maliit na bahagi ng mukha) ang sampal.

Usually, bumabagsak talaga `yung buong palad ko sa mukha.

“So, pinag-usapan namin. Pinlano talaga namin. Kasi, kawawa talaga siya. Baka bumagsak siya,” pa­tuloy na pahayag pa ni Angel.

Anyway, between Angel and Gretchen, puring-puri nga ng mga manunulat ang klase ng acting na ipinapa­kita ni Angel sa Magkaribal. Sobrang effortless nga raw, na natural na natural.

Pero, pagdating sa pananamit, may mga nagsasabi na talung-talo nga raw ni Gretchen si Angel.

“Alam ko na, na she is the more fashionable one. And hands up na talaga ako riyan. And I don’t even want to try to compete with the way she dresses up, with the way she stands herself, kasi she has the means, she has the goods, she has personal stuff na puwede niyang magamit.

“Eh ako, wala naman akong gamit. So, kung ano lang ang pinasusuot nila sa akin, sinusuot ko. Basta sa akin, as long as tama ang pagpu-portray ko bilang Vera, happy na ako,” lahad ni Angel.

Hindi ba mahirap kaeksena si Gretchen?

“Hindi! She’s very particular lang sa halimbawa, walang masyadong destruction. Mahirap din kasi kapag maraming lumalakad, maraming nag-iingay, at nagku-concentrate ka sa mga lines mo.

“She’s very professional. She comes on time. And she’s a giver also, as an actress…” papuri ni Angel kay Greta.

Pangi-intriga ng isang manunulat kay Angel, hindi raw kataka-taka na kinamumuhian siya ni Gretchen ngayon.

“No! She likes me,” iglap na sagot ni Angel.

“She gives me clothes. Alam niyo ba, she came to taping one day, basta sabi lang niya, dumating ako, med­yo late, kasi lumipat ako ng location. Sabi niya sa staff niya, dalhin niyo nga dito `yung bag ng damit.

“Akala ko naman, bibigyan niya ako ng isang damit. Nagulat ako dahil binigyan niya ako ng isang plastic bag ng mga damit. Siguro, mga 15 pieces na klase ng dress `yon. Ginagamit ko `yon sa Us Girls.

“You know, the effort, the kindness (ni Gretchen). Isa `yon sa mga what we love about her. ‘Yun pa, when she’s present sa taping, may baon talaga siya na ang dami-dami para sa mga tao,” kuwento pa rin ni Angel.

Sundot na biro ng mga manunulat kay Angel, baka paraan lang ni Gretchen `yon (na binigyan siya ng maraming damit) para iparamdam sa kanya na huwag niyang masyadong galingan sa mga eksena nila?

“Eh, ‘di hindi rin siya mai-inspire o matsa-challenge…” sagot ni Angel, na biglang natawa nang ma-realize niya na hindi niya dapat patulan ang mga pambubuyo ng mga manunulat sa paligid niya.

Siyanga pala, ilan sa mga nominado sa Us Girls August Awards ay ang mga TV star na sina Andi Eigenmann, Empress Schuck, Erich Gonzalez, Jessy Mendiola, Kristine Hermosa, Marian Rivera, Cristine Reyes, Rhian Ramos, Carla Abellana, Isabel Oli, Megan Young, Heart Evangelista, at Kim Chiu.

Gretchen Barretto: Magkaribal is Life-Changing

Gretchen Barretto revealed during a recent visit to the Magkaribal that she is slated to shoot her next movie project in the last quarter of this year. Like in her previous interviews, Gretchen was consistent in saying that she does not want her projects to overlap for fear that the quality of her acting would be compromised. “In the beginning sabi ko kay Boy (Abunda, her manager) gusto kong tanggapin lahat ng movie offers,” related Gretchen. “Lahat gusto kong tanggapin but now (while she’s doing Magkaribal), nagpupuyatan and all, matatapos kami ng 4 or 5 in the morning, the whole day ng Tuesday wala na akong magawa kasi nga natutulog ako at aayusin ko ‘yung things the next day.

“So sabi ko, ‘Oh my gosh, hindi ko na kayang mag-shoot ng movie.’ I want to give a hundred percent of myself to this project Magkaribal. Pagkatapos ng Magkaribal and then ako gagawa ng movie para hindi naman ako super-harassed.”

But in general, the actress is enjoying her showbiz comeback. She even was beaming when she said that her partner Tony Boy Cojuangco would tease her and calls her a working girl. “He said that before we left for Paris. Kasi ‘di ba working girl na working girl na ako,” said Gretchen.

But she went on to say that she believes that Tony Boy is really proud of her accomplishments. “Ang nakikita ko proud na proud si Tony. Every time maraming nagsasabi, you know pinag-uusapan ang Magkaribal o nagpapa-picture,” she beamed. She even related that during their recent vacation in Paris, some Filipinos who recognized her called her Victoria—the name of character in Magkaribal—and asked her to have their picture taken with her. “Parang natuwa ako, oh my gosh, parang life-changing yata ang Magkaribal na ‘to,” she said.

Meanwhile, after finally resolving their differences, Gretchen is now looking forward to befriending Angelica Panganiban, girlfriend of Derek Ramsay, who is Gretchen’s leading man in the teleserye. Gretchen and Angelica had a tiff after exchanging harsh comments with each other.
