John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo's Third Movie Team-Up Installment Will Not Push Through

John Lloyd Cruz confirms that the third installment of his movie with Sarah Geronimo, following You Changed My Life, will not materialize. No matter how successful the two preceding movies were, Star Cinema and Viva Entertainment have come to a mutual decision of not pushing through with the movie. As an actor, John Lloyd Cruz said that he could not do anything about it as he just waits and adheres to the film outfit's decisions. "I guess malinaw naman na ngayon (na hindi na talaga matutuloy) dahil nag-express na yung side nila (Viva Films) na medyo hindi na sila interesadong gawin pa yung storya. So I guess naging mas madali for Star Cinema na makapag-decide na sabihin na natin na hindi talaga siya mangyayari."

ABS-CBN.com asked John Lloyd if he feels dismayed and disappointed about the said resolution. Since they haven't even started with the conceptualization stage, John Lloyd said that it became easier for them to accept the fact.

But despite this news, John Lloyd is very happy with his upcoming projects. One of which is a movie with Toni Gonzaga. "Very soon mag-start kami ni Toni Gonzaga ng movie namin. May panibago na naman tayong…kasalukuyan nga meron pa akong mga ine-explore with Angel Locsin which is Imortal. I am just really happy to be here and to be working again. Ang masarap dun is yung excited ka dun sa gagawin mo at ginagawa mo. Na-miss ko talaga ang pelikula. Talagang I am back."

ABS-CBN Answer to Willie Revillame's Press Pronouncement

Television host Willie Revillame announced Monday that he is leaving ABS-CBN despite his existing contract obligations with the network.

In his letter to ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III dated August 9, a copy of which was furnished to the media, Revillame said he wants to end his contract, claiming unfair treatment from the network.

In particular, Revillame cried foul over the management’s move to withdraw from a reported initial agreement that he would return to “Wowowee” on July 31.

He also objected to the network’s plan to give him a weekly pre-recorded TV program on Channel 2 and a possible show at sister company Studio 23.

“After much thought and thorough reflection on where I should stand in the face of these frustrating events, I have come to the conclusion that I should now rescind our contract,” he said.

“I do this because I honestly believe that the company has not dealt with me fairly. The company acted in bad faith and in clear violation of our contract,” Revillame added.

He also said that he sees no reason for the network not to release him from his contract obligations, citing its “allegation that I do not have the public trust or acceptance.”

It was earlier reported that Revillame, who went on indefinite leave following his controversial outburst on May 4, would make a comeback on July 31. The network, however, denied the reports. Revillame, on the other hand, kept mum on the issue.

Days before July 31, the network announced that “Wowowee” would be replaced by a new game and variety show titled “Pilipinas, Win na Win,” and that Revillame would be given a new TV program.

“Pilipinas, Win na Win” is hosted by Kris Aquino, Robin Padilla, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang, and Valerie Concepcion. The hosts had admitted that the new program caught them by surprise.

Series of meetings

Revillame claimed that the decision for his July 31 comeback was made during his meetings with ABS-CBN Entertainment Production head Linggit Tan on July 10, and ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio on July 13.

He said he immediately met with his staff to make the necessary preparations and changes, as well as brainstorm on new segments and musical scores, only to be told days later that the company had “changed its mind.”

On July 20, he said he met again with Tan wherein he was told that “Wowowee” would be replaced by a new show. Tan also informed him about his new TV programs.

“I was shocked at the repudiation of the agreement for my return to ‘Wowowee’ on July 31… I am aware of the implications of my decision but I have to do it. I cannot just sit idly by and watch the death of a show that has brought joy and hope in so many ways to our less fortunate countrymen,” he said.

Rescission of contract

Revillame lamented the network’s decision to place him on probation by hosting a one-hour weekly program without assurance of reinstating him to daily programming.

He also criticized the network for the alleged unilateral downgrading of his appearance from live to a pre-recorded program. He claimed that a pre-recorded appearance constitutes “prior restraint and censorship.”

He also lamented that a pre-recorded TV program would mean he would not be able to “relate directly to my constituents and make them happy in the same way I did in ‘Wowowee.’”

“Although ABS-CBN has graciously offered me a replacement program, I am declining it because it is a one-hour weekly show, not live but pre-recorded, and therefore, not of the same kind of equivalent importance as Wowowee,” he added.

He also cited suspension without pay and unilateral cancellation of “Wowowee” “due to reasons not attributable to me” as reasons for his decision to cancel his contract.

He also protested the network’s refusal to save “Wowowee” by reinstating him as a host, especially when its TV ratings began “to decline with different trial hosts which did not generate the same viewership of 22-23% under my watch.”

He also noted ABS-CBN’s alleged deliberate sabotage of his image “by airing destructive pieces against me, instead of promoting me as a talent.”

Revillame mentioned the company’s alleged “abuse of right under a one-sided contract of adhesion, intended to destroy my career and humiliate me.”

“To Sir Gabby and Ma'am Charo, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me and for giving me opportunities in life. I have yet to decide what to do for the days to come. But for now my objective is to move on and to learn from my experience,” he said.

"While I have certain rights to claim against the company, I am willing to forego and waive this if we both live and let live," he added.

Revillame is represented by lawyers Ferdinand Domingo and Leonard de Vera.

May 12 letter

It was on May 12 when Revillame first asked the bosses of the Kapamilya network to release him from his contract. His letter came after his his outburst on “Wowowee.”

His outburst was triggered by fellow Kapamilya talent Jobert Sucaldito’s alleged criticisms of “Wowowee.” Revillame threatened to leave ABS-CBN unless the network fires Sucaldito.

His May 12 letter prompted the network’s executives to call a closed-door meeting with Revillame. In the meeting, both parties agreed that Revillame would take an “indefinite break” from his popular noontime show, but his contract obligations with ABS-CBN remained.

In his August 9 statement, Revillame explained why he blew his top.

“Throughout its five-and-a-half-year stint, I have put my heart and soul to the program and in the process, I discovered that the secret to its phenomenal success is ‘pagpapaka-totoong tao’ and genuine love and affection for its faithful followers. This is the reason why I reacted emotionally when they were insulted by no less than a fellow ABS-CBN talent,” he said.

He said his only mistake is “loving Wowowee too much and making it my life.”

“Thus, when it was cancelled, as if my life was consumed as well. I see no reason why I should still continue with my contract with ABS-CBN,” he said.

ABS-CBN issues statement

ABS-CBN Corp. on Monday said it would not release Revillame from his contract obligations with the company.

In a statement, Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, reiterated the network’s previous stance that it is holding Revillame to his contract obligations until the agreement expires in September 2011.

He maintained that as an “aggrieved party,” ABS-CBN is the only one, not Revillame, that can decide whether to end the contract.

Below is the network's full official statement:

We take note of Willie Revillame's pronouncements in his press conference today.

Willie is bound to ABS-CBN by a contract until September 2011. He violated the behavioral provisions of his contract when he threatened the ABS-CBN management during the May 4, 2010 episode of Wowowee, with a resignation if management does not fire another artist of the network. His behavior was generally seen as a display of disrespect and arrogance, completely unacceptable to the Filipino public.

As the one who violated his contract, Willie has no right to have it unilaterally invalidated. Contracts are binding agreements that must be respected by the contracting parties involved. The one who violates the contract cannot be allowed to dictate whether it should continue or end. Otherwise, contracts will have no value and may be terminated based on whim.

ABS-CBN is the aggrieved party, and as such, is the only one that can decide to end the agreement.

Despite all that had happened, ABS-CBN was willing to continue with the contract. Willie however, refused to take responsibility for his actions.

ABS-CBN wishes to reiterate that it will hold Willie to his obligations under the contract which expires September 2011.

Three Rivers on Velvet

Beginning August 19 at 10pm, another medical drama series will premiere on Velvet (Sky Cable Channel 53) which follow the lives of the dedicated, confident, tenacious and headstrong doctors of “Three Rivers,” as they operate on the toughest cases in an arena that takes more than just skill and a sharp scalpel. The series was set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at a fictional hospital specializing in transplants, with Alex O'Loughlin starring as a famous transplant surgeon. Also starring are Katherine Moennig, Daniel Henney and Alfre Woodard.

Three Rivers goes inside the emotionally complex lives of organ donors, the recipients and the surgeons at the preeminent transplant hospital in the country, where every moment counts. However, dealing with donor families in their darkest hour and managing the fears and concerns of apprehensive recipients takes much more than just a sharp scalpel. Leading the elite team is Dr. Andy Yablonski, the highly-skilled workaholic lead organ transplant surgeon, whose good-natured personality and sarcastic wit makes him popular with his patients and colleagues. His co-workers include Dr. Miranda Foster, a surgical fellow with a rebellious streak and fiery temper who strives to live up to her deceased father's excellent surgical reputation; Dr. David Lee, a womanizing surgical resident who's broken as many hearts as he's replaced; Ryan Abbott, the inexperienced new transplant coordinator who arranges the intricately choreographed process of quickly and carefully transporting organs from donor to patient; Dr. Sophia Jordon, the dedicated head of surgery who has no patience for anyone who hasn't sacrificed as much as she has for the job; and Pam Acosta, Andy's no-nonsense operating assistant and best friend. In this high stakes arena, in which every case is a race against the clock, these tenacious surgeons and medical professionals are the last hope for their patients.

Teen Sex Addicts on The Correspondents

ABS-CBN: Most Credible TV Station

When it comes to providing balance and accurate news, most Filipinos say ABS-CBN is the most credible TV network in the country as seen in the latest opinion poll of Pulse Asia.

Results of the nationwide survey showed 72% of the Filipinos believe ABS-CBN gave the most credible TV news coverage of the May 2010 elections. ABS-CBN scored higher than GMA, which had only 63% believing in its credibility and TV 5’s 32%.

Pulse Asia attributed this high rating to ABS-CBN’s election-related programs such as the “Harapan” debates, as well as its multimedia campaign “Boto Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” that educated and empowered the people during the election period.

“The public wouldn’t go to ABS-CBN if they don’t find the network credible. They feel empowered thus, they text and send them their reports,” said Pulse Asia Chief Dr. Ana Maria Tabunda in an interview with “TV Patrol.”

Follow their quest for good times, adventure, and love while they face challenges at work and in their personal lives every Wednesday at 8:30pm.

Fly Girls on Velvet

They work hard and they party harder, but there is definitely more to the fun and glamorous lives of flight attendants.

Find out how they deal with working 30,000 feet above ground while pursuing good times, adventure and love on “Fly Girls,” the newest reality series to watch out for on Velvet (SkyCable ch.53).

“Fly Girls,” which premiered last Wednesday (August 4), follows the lives of five charismatic flight attendants on America’s hippest new airline: Virgin America as they jet from one glamorous location to the next including Las Vegas, South Beach and New York City.

Leading the pack is Nikole, a self-confessed accessory addict who sneaks in jewelry from airport security so she could wear them on duty. But despite taking all the time to get decked out before a flight, the group’s Paris Hilton-wannabe is never late for take-off.

Mandy, meanwhile, is your typical wholesome girl next door—the kind a man would love to bring home to meet his folks. Being a neat freak, she makes it a point to always wear slip-on shoes with socks in airports.

Tasha is the working mom of the group. In order to keep track of her child who’s miles away at her hometown Sacramento, she never goes to work without her cell phone. Her motherly instinct shows in her favorite travel tip, which is “Don’t forget your common sense at home.”

Then there’s Farrah, who is your stereotypical flight attendant. She’s a blonde bombshell who always has a smile on her face despite the hectic cross-country flight schedule. She’s always pleasant to all passengers and to all the other flight attendants.

Finally, the last girl, Louise is the rebellious one. Though she displays a no-nonsense attitude, she’s still like any other girl who won’t dare go on a long haul flight without primping up herself up first with a lip balm and some moisturizer.

Living in one home-base they call the “crash pad,” they only have each other to get through issues in romance, family, friendships and even roommate conflicts, as well as the split-second decision-making, demanding and sometimes fascinating passengers, long hours in the air and layovers in interesting locales at work.

Get a 360-degree look at their lives up in the air and in the places they visit on “Fly Girls” every Wednesday, 8:30pm on the country’s premium general entertainment channel for women, Velvet on SkyCable Channel 53.
