Avatar: The Last Airbender Now on ABS-CBN

Another Nickelodeon cartoon will make its way on ABS-CBN this Saturday, July 31. Avatar: The Last Airbender is the next offering from the recent tie-up between Nickelodeon and ABS-CBN.
The series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating the evil Fire Lord and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation. It takes place in a world that is home to humans, fantastic animals, and spirits. Human civilization is divided into four nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation. Each nation has its own natural element, on which it bases its society. Furthermore, people known as Benders have the ability to manipulate the eponymous element of their nation using the physical motions of martial arts. The show’s creators based each Bending style on a style of real-world martial art, leading to visual differences in the techniques used by Waterbenders (tai chi chuan), Earthbenders (Hung Ga kung fu, for the most part), Firebenders (Northern Shaolin kung fu) and Airbenders (baguazhang). Each country is also associated with a season: autumn for the Air Nomads, winter for the Water Tribe, spring for the Earth Kingdom and summer for the Fire Nation.
Avatar was also a multi-awarded cartoon for it has been nominated for and won awards from the Annual Annie Awards, the Genesis Awards, the primetime Emmy awards and a Peabody Award among others.

Pilipinas, Win na Win Replaces Wowowee

Speculations on what will happen to Wowowee now ends. Curtain will fall now on Wowowee and this Saturday. July 31, a new Variety -Game show will take the timeslot of Wowowee. The shwo is entitled Pilipinas, Win na Win. Robin Padilla and Kris Aquino will host the show with Wowowee girls Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion and Pokwang.

“It is a game and variety show that will surely bring joy, energy and hope to Filipinos all over the world,” Osorio said in a statement.

“'Pilipinas, Win na Win' will be managed by director Johnny Manahan, creative director Bobot Mortiz, business unit head Jay Montelibano, and executive producers Phoebe Anievas and Rancy Recato. It will be aired after 'Showtime,’” he added.

Osorio said the camp of Willie Revillame, the on-leave host of “Wowowee,” has been informed about the changes. He also confirmed that Revillame will be given a new TV show.

Willie Revillame, through his manager, was already informed about this new development. He was also notified about the new program being planned for him and this will be announced in due time,” he said

In May, Revillame went on indefinite leave following an outburst on "Wowowee" where he threatened to leave the show. It was triggered by fellow Kapamilya talent Jobert Sucaldito’s alleged non-stop criticisms of the noontime show.

Prior to Tuesday's announcement, speculations about Revillame’s return to “Wowowee” have spread. He would supposedly make a comeback on July 31.

Revillame, however, declined to confirm the reports. He merely shrugged his shoulder when recently asked by ABS-CBN News to confirm the rumors.

Kris Aquino, on the other hand, is expected to return from her vacation in the United States on Friday to give her time to prepare for the new afternoon television program.

In a message sent to ABS-CBN News, Aquino, who recently quit celebrity talk shows “The Buzz" and “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon,” said she is excited to be back on television.

"I'm happy to be part of the new noontime show, and to work with Robin, Pokwang, Mariel and the whole production team. I'm excited to be back on television," she said.

When sought for her reaction, Pokwang burst into tears when told about the new show. She said she is still waiting for the final instructions of the ABS-CBN bosses

Concepcion’s talent manager, Becky Aguila, said the new show “is a big surprise.”

"This is a big surprise for us. We thank ABS-CBN management for the wonderful blessing,” Aguila said.

Padilla, who became the guest host of “Wowowee” for 2 weeks, was thankful to be given a new show on ABS-CBN.

"Masayang masaya ako pero hindi hamon ‘yon sa akin kundi pagsilbi sa tao. Wala akong hangad kundi mapaligaya ang mga kababayan ko sa lahat ng sulok ng daigdig," Padilla said.
