GMA7's Are You The Next Big Star's Greggy Santos and Alex Castro Now Both Kapamilya

Ex-Kapuso stars Greggy Santos and Alex Castro are now can be seen in Kapamilya shows.

Greggy Santos has joined the hit ABS-CBN show "Momay" as Valerie's love interest. This was already his 2nd show in the Kapamilya network after his guest appearance on "Agua Bendita" last March. He joined GMA's Are You The Next Big Star? last year and he almost made it to the grand finals. He was eliminated one week before the finale. And after that, nothing much happpened to him on GMA 7 as the network concentrated much on the winners: Geoff Taylor and Frencheska Farr. Greggy also co-hosted "Living It Up" on Q11, sister station of GMA 7. He also appeared in the 2010 indie film "Pitas" topbilled by Sid Lucero and Kristel Moreno.

Alex Castro can now be seen in the new Your Song Presents Maling Akala opposite the Primetime Princess Kim Chiu and with the Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas. Alex won first runner-up in GMA's Are You The Next Big Star? last year and he was last seen in GMA' s series "Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak" and the dating game 'Take Me Out". He was also seen in the Clear commercial with John Lloyd Cruz.

Maling Akala on Your Song

The Queen and the Princess join forces in the new episode of Your Song.

A new comical tandem is sure to keep your Sunday afternoon light and stress-free as the Comedy Concert Queen, Ai-ai Delas Alas, and the Princess of Primetime, Kim Chiu, join forces in sharing a good laugh via the newest offering of Your Song entitled “Maling Akala,” premiering on July 25.

Playing mother-daughter roles in the said mini-series, Ai-ai and Kim surprisingly make a good comedy tag team. “Walang duda na magaling ang timing ni Ai-ai sa pagpapatawa. Revelation si Kim para sa akin. Mahusay siyang magdeliver ng lines. May timing rin,” Francis Pasion shared, director of ‘Maling Akala.”

The story of Your Song presents Maling Akala circles on how a mother and daughter stick with each other even through worst scenarios. An incident pushes Buena (Ai-ai) and Yen (Kim) to take on different personas only because they were mistaken to be someone they’re not. Their pretension leads to more trouble, causing a chain of conflict which they have to deal with eventually.

Jon Arcilla, Alex Castro and Van Roxas will also have their share of laughter in the series.

Kim last appeared in Your Song two years ago where she was part of the toprating My Only Hope’s series. On the other hand, this will be Ai-ai’s first Your Song episode.

Get ready as Your Song takes you to a joy ride starting on July 25, “Maling Akala,” every Sunday on ABS-CBN after ASAP XV.

Star Magic's July Celebrants

Star Magic July birthday celebrants Xian Lim and Aaron Villaflor are gay lovers in Joel Lamangan’s Mamarazzi under Regal films, scheduled to premiere next week. When asked if they have a bed scene, Xian answered negatively. When asked if they have a kissing scene, Aaron just smiled and said, “Panoorin nyo na lang po yung movie.” Despite the denials, Xian jokingly called Aaron as his love tanden.

Xian Lim will celebrate his 21st birthday on July 21. His date on that special occasion in his life will be his mom since he does not have any girlfriend. Xian’s first project was Katorse where he had his early taste of acting with Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales. After the said project, he slowly learned the ropes of the business including the demands of late-hour shoots. This former Cosmopolitan’s Top 100 Bachelors, essays an important role in Agimat Presents Elias Paniki with Jake Cuenca. Xian juggled his schedule shooting in two movies, the Sixth Cinemalaya entry entitled Two Funerals and Mamarazzi.

Aaron, on other hand, turned 20 last July 5. Aaron was seen in the commercials like Nissin’s Yakisoba, Extraderm, and Globe. He also acted alongside some of the industry’s finest like OK Fine Ito Ang Gusto Niyo with Aga Muhlach and Sana Maulit Muli with Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Aaron is studying at Kester Grant College taking up Business Management. He will soon tape for Agimat’s Bianong Bulag with Jason Abalos. He continues to be one of the Giggerboys heartthrobs who regularly seen in ASAP XV.

Other July birthday celebrants from Star magic are Hiyasmin Neri who will be turning 20 on July 18. A BS Clothing Technology major from UP, she’s best known as the leading lady of Felix Roco in the Cinema One indie film UPCAT. On TV, she played Zanjoe Marudo’s cousin in The Wedding and Kim Chiu’s best friend in Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo. She’s now also hosting a show in The Knowledge Channel.

Jane Oineza, who turns 14 on July 22, is a former child star (Goin Bulilit) and was last seen in Magkano ang Iyong Dangal as the young Bangs Garcia and in the film Miss You Like Crazy as Bea Alonzo’s sister. She was paired with Kristoffer Dangculos in Ligaw na Bulaklak who is now known as Kristoffer Martin in GMA-7’s Endless Love.

Igiboy Flores is also a Goin’ Bulilit graduate best known for spoofing female characters. He’ll turn 14 on July 31. He was last seen as the son of Ai Ai de las Alas in Ang Tanging Pamilya.

Mark Sarayot started as a child actor playing the young Matt Evans in Pedro Penduko and Kambal sa Uma and the young Ejay Falcon in Katorse. He turns 13 on July 23 and now plays the brother of Jason Abalos in Bianong Bulag. He comes from a political family in Laguna but he now avoids politics after his uncle, the mayor of Mabitac, was killed in an ambush.

On Spotlight: Tutti Caringal of Music Uplate Live

Musician Tutti Caringal shared that he was very excited when ABS-CBN offered him the chance to co-host Music Uplate Live with Yeng Constantino because finally, he will get the chance to fulfill his long-time passion of hosting. “Napansin kong madaldal talaga ako. Hilig ko talaga magsalita. Before pa ako magbanda pangarap ko nang mag-DJ o VJ. Nasa dugo ko na yata ang hosting, even hosting events, party, debut, kasal.Natural na sa akin ang magsalita.”

As the drummer for band 6CycleMind and vocalist of his own group Protein Shake, Tutti’s only adjustment in doing Uplate was the midnight time slot of the program. “Parang call center na graveyard shift. Umaga na perong gising na gising ka pa. By the time you get home ang hirap na matulog,” he said. But so far Uplate has not yet affected his commitments to his two bands. “Kapag weekdays bihira kami magka-gigs. Kung meron man nakakaabot pa rin ako sa Uplate kasi hindi naman talaga inaabot ng midnight ‘yung gigs namin. Good thing na magfi-fill in na sa amin sina Nicolehiyala at Christsuper every Fridays kasi tuwing Friday usually madami kaming gigs at out of town.”

Tutti also dispelled rumors that his mates from the two bands are beginning to feel insecure with his growing popularity brought by Uplate. He said that his band mates acknowledge what his newfound TV career can contribute to their music. “It was our manager’s decision and they didn’t mind kasi it works for the band’s advantage na nakikita ako ng mga tao sa TV. Tumatatak talaga sa isip ng mga tao ‘yung 6CycleMind at Protein Shake.”

Other local bands have members who have ventured into mainstream showbiz like Mark Abaya of Kjwan, Kean Cipriano of Callalily, Champ Lui Pio of Hale, and former Rivermaya front man Rico Blanco, who will be part of the cast of the upcoming John Lloyd Cruz-Angel Locsin fantaserye Imortal, to name only a few. Does Tutti have plans of also trying out acting like his fellow musicians? “I’m really not thinking about ‘yung mga ganyan for now. I’m still enjoying my stint as host for Music Uplate Live. But at the same time I’m not closing my doors on whatever will come my way. If the opportunity comes, why not? Maraming naga-aspire to be in showbiz, sayang naman kung ako ite-turn down ko lang. Let’s see what will happen.”

For now, Tutti is enjoying his job as co-host of Uplate wherein they usually invite unsigned and up-and-coming artists to perform. “The good thing about our show is we don’t limit ourselves sa mga kilalang banda. We also invite unsigned bands and musicians. Important kasi na we always look for new talents para may mga bagong napapanood ang mga tao na magagaling din naman.”

Underground Monsters on The Correspondents

In the provinces of Bataan, Batangas and Cavite, instead of sleeping soundly at night, residents lie awake, worried that “monsters” might once again attack their land.

These “monsters” are worms, which attack in thousands and eat up their crops. In Bataan, nine towns have already been badly destroyed. In Batangas, residents of 28 villages continue to live in fear after having been attacked by these monsters in the past months.

This Tuesday (July 20), Dominic Almelor will make his rounds of the fields in Batangas and Bataan to investigate and monitor the movement of these underground monsters.

Will he be able to help the residents find a solution to their problem? Will the residents every find a way to bring an end to their nuisance?

Rescue of Illegally Recruited Minors in ‘XXX’

Two innocent minors from Dumaguete City were recruited to work as house helpers in Manila but to their surprise, they were detained by their recruiter named “Teresita” who was asking for P5,000 each for their release.

According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), recruiting children below 18 years for employment and detaining them is a grave violation to the law.
