Jolo Revilla, Happy as Kapamilya

Jolo Revilla is happy for the twin victory of his parents, Senator Bong Revilla, who emerged as the topnotcher in the senatorial race, and Lani Mercado, newly-elected congresswoman of Bacoor.

He said he is equally happy for his two uncles, Stryke Revilla, younger brother of his dad who ran for reelection as mayor of Bacoor and won by a landslide, and Jun Ynares, husband of Bong's younger sister Andeng, who again was given the mandate to govern his constituents in Rizal.

"But, of course, mas happy ako para sa sarili ko," Jolo said, beaming. "I've never had it so good in my career. I'm glad that ABS-CBN is taking good care of me."

After the success of his Agimat series as Pepeng Agimat, he is again included in the second batch of Agimat stories from Ramon Revilla Sr. Collection. He will star as Kapitan Inggo.

But before Kapitan Inggo, he is now also a part of the Piolo-Zaijan fantaserye, "Noah".

Jason Abalos as Bianong Bulag

Jason Abalos will finally be taking the lead role in a TV series with Bianong Bulag, an upcoming installment of Agimat: Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla Sr. Though an award-winning actor on the indie film circuit (Urian Best Actor for 2007's Endo) and a familiar face in teleseryes, Jason never expected that he would top-bill a series. " Na-surprise ako kasi unang-una, hindi ko hinihintay kasi ang gusto ko lang tumagal talaga, eh. Hindi naman ako naghahangad na umangat [sa isang project] pagkatapos wala ka na. Gusto ko 'yung unti-unti pero napapahaba 'yung buhay sa showbiz."

Asked if he feels ready to be the star of his own series, Jason responded, " Ako naman kung anong ibigay sa akin pinaghahandaan ko, eh." He also thinks that the time is finally right for him to take the lead. " Ang hinihintay ko lang talaga 'yung pinakatamang panahon at palagay ko ito 'yong [oras sa] pagiging bida kasi ang hirap naman na sasabak ka hindi ka handa." Having been in the business for five years already, Jason believes that he is fully prepared for this project. " Parang kahit anong ibigay sa akin tatanggapin ko na. Wala nang atrasan."

Although known as a dramatic actor, Jason says that he wants to try different genres. " Ang sa akin lang okay ' yung umiikot ka. Nasa drama ka ngayon 'yung sa Agua Bendita gustong-gusto ko 'yung ginagawa ko tapos ngayon naman action. Kung ano 'yung nagawa ng mga artista dati pa gusto ko rin gawin. Ang sarap isipin na, 'Uy nakagawa rin ako ng ganyan,'" he related.

Jason says he also feels privileged to be included in the second batch of Agimat actors. " Tingnan mo kung sino ang nauna, at kung sino ngayon ang mga naging kasabay ko. Sila 'yung mga mabilis umangat, eh tapos ako kasama rin dito. Kaya masayang-masaya ako kasi unang-una, isa itong karangalan na mabigyan ng isang series ng Agimat," he stressed. Aside from Jason, the other actors in the second batch include Enchong Dee, Ejay Falcon, and Jolo Revilla.

Heavy Weight Auditions on Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition

Kapamilya heavyweights trooped to the PBB Eviction Hall recently for the chance to be a contestant in ABS-CBN’s latest reality show.

The “biggie-sized” Pinoys faced their first challenge as they lined up and waited in the hope of finally achieving their dreams by getting their ideal weight through the “Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” (BLPE).

BLPE director Jon Raymond Moll said the huge turnout was a sign of the big things coming in the show. “With the variety of the people who auditioned, we can expect a very good first season,” said Moll, who was one of the executive producers of the hit reality show “PBB Double Up.”

There were applicants who were just a few pounds over the 250lbs minimum for men and 200lbs minimum for women while there were those whose weight went beyond the capacity of the weighing scales.

In the interviews, the applicants shared their colorful stories and even embarrassing experiences like when they were called “elephants” or “giants” by other people. Some also mentioned their over-the-top eating habits like finishing a whole chocolate mousse cake by himself or munching up food every 30 minutes.

Asked what they would do when they get fit, a hopeful said she would run and hang-out with friends while another joked that she will post her picture in a dating website.

Executive Producer Reily Santiago assessed that the applicants where after self-improvement and really joined to improve themselves and not for the cash and prize package. “We hope that those who won’t advance to the next level of auditions will still pursue and achieve the change they hope for,” he said.

Catch the “Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” auditions on July 16 at Metro Town, Tarlac, July 30 at Park Mall Cebu, August 6 at Embarcadero de Legaspi, Legaspi City, and on August 13 at SM City Iloilo. Men weighing 250lbs. up and women 200lbs. up, both in good health and aged 18-40 years old may tryout by simply bringing a valid ID and close up and whole body photos.

Kapamilya abroad may also audition. Watch out for announcements on the global auditions on ABS-CBN.

Charlene Gonzales Now Official Kapamilya!

Charlene Gonzales recently signed a contract with ABS-CBN to formalize her new stint as a co-host on The Buzz. She said in an interview following her contract signing, “I’m happy na Kapamilya ako ulit. My last show here I think was three years ago, At Home Ka Dito. Once a Kapamilya, always a Kapamilya talaga. Na-miss ko talaga ang ABS-CBN kasi madami akong naging kaibigan dito.”

Charlene, along with Toni Gonzaga, made their debut as The Buzz co-hosts last July 11. Although she had fun doing that episode, Charlene also confessed that her return to TV hosting made her feel nervous. “Sabi nga niTito Boy (Abunda) parang pilot episode ‘yung ginawa namin kasi lahat bago. Kinakabahan kami lahat. Nagkasama sama kami the night before for dinner, then the following day live show na agad. It was something new for all of us kaya kami lahat nagtatantyahan kung ano ang gagawin namin. But it was fun to work with them kasi magagaling silang lahat, professional, at mababait.”

For the three years that she was absent from TV, Charlene devoted her time to being a wife to Aga Muhlach and a mother to their twins Atasha and Andres. When the offer to co-host The Buzz came along, she knew it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. “It’s the opportunity of working with good hosts like Tito Boy, Toni, KC (Concepcion). This is something new for me. Ako naman I always want to try something different things. This is a genre na parang hindi ko pa nata-try. Gumawa na ako ng lifestyle show, dance, tapos ngayon naman showbiz oriented talk show. Ibang field so I thought it would be interesting.”

The former Miss Universe semi-finalist revealed that she didn’t have a hard time asking the permission of her husband if she can work again on TV. “Pumayag naman agad siya. Every decision naman namin we first consult each other. He was very, very supportive. Nag text siya at tumawag agad habang umeere ‘yung Buzz. He was very happy watching me.” She also talked about how her daughter Atasha is a big fan of The Buzz. “Nung nalaman ni Atasha na may offer sa akin ang The Buzz, sabi niya, ‘Mama gawin mo na, I want to watch!’ Gusto nga niya sumama sa akin sa first episode pero sabi ko ‘wag muna kasi may nerbiyos pa ako. But I told her na when things get settled na I will bring the kids to watch.”

The only downside though is that Charlene won’t get to spend her Sunday with the family since she has to be in the studio for work. “Nanibago kami sa schedule. Before kasi usually every weekend kaming family nasa Batangas, out of town. Now our weekends will not be the same na. Siguro ‘yung family day namin weekdays na lang.”

Charlene seemed to be ready to take on the job as an “intrigera” for The Buzz and she said that she will not be the kind of host who will play safe with her interviewees. “I don’t want to ask questions na safe. Gusto ko itanong ‘yung required of me as a host at ‘yung gusto talaga malaman ng mga tao. I think kung sino man ang mage-guest sa The Buzz alam na nila na more or less ang requirement ng show. Tsaka when you reach a certain age gusto mo rin na you’re more settled sa sarili mo, not as fearful anymore, so you want to be playful din.”

For the debut of her own segment called “Straight from the Heart with Charlene,” she had the honor of talking to the Queen of Teleserye Judy Ann Santos who shared her feelings as an expectant mother. “It was a magical moment. Tuwing gagawa ka kasi ng interview hindi mo talaga malalaman ang mangyayari. The beauty of hosting is you will never know what will happen until it’s finished. I just love Judai so much and her family. When we were there, nararamdaman ko ‘yung nararamdaman niya, as a mother and six months pregnant. I felt her that day and that was a very magical moment. I’m just thankful that she shared hindi lang sa akin kung hindi pati sa lahat ‘yung present state niya ngayon.”

Is Willie Revillame Returning to Wowowee?

It’s been months since Willie Revillame has gone on indefinite leave from Wowowee. The program has had different hosts since he left including Robin Padilla, Billy Crawford and Luis Manzano.

Recently, both the showbiz and non-showbiz worlds are abuzz with rumors of his return to the hit noontime show. ABS-CBN Management denies such rumors and issues an official statement on the issue. To quote Bong Osorio, Head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications:

“Ang mga lumalabas na bali-balita tungkol kay Willie Revillame at sa Wowowee ay mga espekulasyon. Nag-usap na ang ABS-CBN Management at si Willie Revillame kung ano ang kanyang options o mga posibleng gagawin pagkatapos ng kanyang break. Wala pang napagkasunduan ang ABS-CBN at si Willie. Kung mayroon mang pagbabagong magaganap, ito’y opisyal na ipahahayag ng ABS-CBN sa takdang panahon.”

Commercial Overload on Noah!

Piolo Pascual and Zaijan Jaranilla’s Noah is doing very well in advertising placements that ABS-CBN has jacked up its advertising rates! According to a memorandum, ABS-CBN can’t accommodate all advertisers as it follows the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas’ 15 minute advertising time rule for every hour of program time. So bulk advertisers which will place one spot a day will have guaranteed spots. The so-called scattered group of 40 percent will be aired in a best effort basis, meaning, can be bumped off the next day or so.
