"This plan has been in the pipeline even before I got here," sagot ni Reyes.
"Anything naman that affects your career is surprising no matter how the company breaks it to you. I think they had an idea before, but of course, not that long ago.
"Pero I was the one who first talked to her. She was very calm...
"It's never easy to say to someone that you're being replaced by this person and we're making these changes. You know this is how I put it to her, 'ABS-CBN valued you, continues to value you, but we need your support now to make this work also.'
"It was a corporate decision. It's something that we think would help strengthen the show."
It's just a matter of finding the strengths of all our talents and finding the right places for them, ganun lang naman po 'yon.
"I was very decent with her and maganda naman ang aming usapan, pati po kay Julius din."
"Medyo confidential lang 'yong iba naming plano and we don't want to reveal our plans siyempre, pero I told her [Karen] that we wanted originally to put her in Bandila para naman lumakas din ang aming late night, sila ni Julius.
"No, he didn't," diin ni Ging. "In fact, Julius was the first to confirm that he's staying, that he's accepting Bandila."
"They did not shape nor do they have any influence in our editorial policies," diin ni Reyes.
"Kung sila ay gagawa ng istorya—we will check it, we will edit it as editors, we will check it for balance, accuracy, and fairness. There's a news process, there's a hierarchy of writers and producers and even myself...
“We know our craft as journalists. Siguro, sinasabi lang ‘yon ng ibang tao dahil naging vice president si Noli, and then Korina is married to Mar. But they do not shape nor do they have any influence in our editorial policy. Kung sila ay gagawa ng istorya, gagawin nila and we will check it, we will edit it. As editors, we will check it for balance, accuracy and fairness. Dadaaan sila sa proseso. There’s a news process, there’s a hierarchy of writers And producers and even myself. Look. Listen. I’ll give you an example. Andrea Mitchell, NBC’s multi-awarded reporter has long been married to Alan Greenspan (economist at naging Chairman ng Federal Reserve ng Amerika), hindi naman naging isyu sa kanila. Christiane Amanpour (sikat na ABC News anchor at dating chief international correspondent ng CNN) is married to James Rubin, the former US State Department spokesman. Diane Sawyer (batikang TV journalist at co-anchor ng Good Morning America) is married to a film director (Mike Nichols). Another example, Tim Russert of Meet the Press who is highly respected was a political operative before he became a journalist. He worked for a politician, so halos pulitiko na rin. So, I guess we just see their strengths and we believe that those strengths can help our program,” paliwanag ni Ms. Ging.
Dagdag paliwanag ni Reyes, "Maliit ang mundo kasi nating ginagalawan—politicians and journalists and even movie stars circulate in a very small world, so to speak, na hindi natin mapigilan minsan nagkakatuluyan sila.
"We will try to still be comprehensive in our reporting, and of course wala naman tayong pinapatawad hanggang ngayon. We will just try to infuse more public service elements in the newscast.
"As a news organization, wala pong pagbabago sa aming commitment to truth and public service. We will continue to be incisive in our coverage and try to give all sides to a story."
